DOMINIQUE'S POV
"Sire, her highness requests your presence in the courtroom." A servant reports, after getting the go-ahead to do so from me. It annoys me to no end, that till now, my parents still send servants to call for me to the courtroom when they know perfectly well that I don't enjoy being in the same room as those vipers.
I don't know why they still keep the council members when their words cannot be challenged anyway. It's not as if they are bad rulers too.
I'd rather be in the battle field. Tearing through my enemies with my claws and fangs. Tasting their blood on my tongue, getting light headed from the victory over those who wish for this kingdoms' down fall. Working out or having a spar with Dan.
I can even take a run in the forest in my beast's form, while enjoying the tickling of the wind in my fur and the tingling of the grass under my paws, feeling the vibrations caused by every movement of mine. Submerging myself in the silence, and peace of the green forest under the clear blue sky.
"I'll be there." Is my simple reply for him. He bows in respect and leaves me to my thoughts.
I place the book I was reading on the table as I stand and stretch a bit. Whilst my brothers display their wealth in their overly ginormous rooms, with expensive portraits, huge beds with the best bedsheets and servants at their feet to tend to their every need and want.
Mine, is very simple and exactly to my taste. With a king sized bed, covered in grey silk bed sheets, a black couch and a small bookshelf filled to the brim and a television. A perfectly sized bathroom and closet. It serves its purpose for when I'm not in my house, but my parents' palace.
It's been two days since the incident with Nebula, and still no improvement with my situation, even the thought of her makes me nauseous now. A sigh of fatigue leaves my lips, and I get ready to go see what it is my mother wants.
It's required of royals to wear a golden robe to the courthouse. Unlike my brothers who need their servants to do everything for them, I'm perfectly capable of doing everything myself.
Standing in front of my floor to ceiling mirror. I see a nearly 7 feet man with brown shoulder length hair held in a ponytail, and blue eyes with specks of gold in it. It reflects a man who has fought battle after battle, and still made it home alive with scars of war as his trophy.
I turn my back on what the mirror has to show me after getting ready, and make my way to the courthouse. It takes a few minutes to walk through different glamorous hallways and pass by multiple rooms to reach where I'm meant to be now.
A door with a golden wolf howling to the silver moon, that is emblem of this kingdom, along with a guard who announces my presence is what greets me upon my arrival.
I was expecting the place to be full of backstabbing council members, who can't take a step without their servants and slaves at their feet, crawling with forced submission.
Instead, I am graced with the commanding and ever loving presence of my mother and father seated on their thrones. My dad holds my mom's hand, never taking his eyes off her as he say whatever it is that's making her smile so much.
My parents never had that love at first sight relationship. They had to learn to want and love each other. Father lost his true mate to a very rare disease that affects the brain only two weeks after they met. In order to live and fulfill his duties as a king, he took a chosen mate.
Lycans don't get sick often, not to talk of the kind that killed his mate. But he doesn't let his true mate's death bother him now. It hit him hard in the beginning, but he says that he now thinks of it as Selene's way of preparing him for mother. And that he cannot forget his true mate, but it just wasn't meant to be.
My mother never met her mate, so she had nothing to lose when she was chosen, and dedicated her life to my father, her duties as Queen and her children.
"You called for me mother." I announce my presence once more with a smile as I move towards their throne, to give my mother a kiss on the cheek and my father a handshake.
"I never see you, if I don't look for you... Myself" she says with her hand on my cheeks and a loving smile on her face. Whilst making sure to emphasize on that one word. I'm grateful to the Moon Goddess that, even though my parents are not true mates, our family is full of love.
"I'm sorry mother, I have been a bit busy." I say with a kiss to her hair.
" Too busy to see your parents, Dom?" father asks, with a raised brow. He definitely does not believe me, I didn't expect him to anyway. But there's no need for them to know about my s****l problems.
"My apologies, father." Father may be uptight sometimes, but we all know how much he loves his family. Especially mother.
"Alright, alright. I need you to go to the slave market in two days. They are preparing servants for the palace, go and select the best ones. So we can have your party on time." Mother says, with a cheerful smile, her eyes glinting with roguery.
"Mother, I think I'm well past the age of celebrating birthdays." I can't believe she still wants to do this. We've had this same discussion more times than I can count. But, she acts like it's the first time we're speaking of this.
"Nonsense. You are royalty after all". she says, with eyes that say, she's not taking no for an answer. There is no need to start an argument we all know she'll come out victorious in.
"Okay, mother" I relent, saying nothing more. It'll end the same way it always does. With her having the last word. To See father give mother's hand a gentle squeeze, and the love in his eyes when he looks at her, makes my stomach churn with caged jealousy at their relationship. It makes the yearning in my soul and heart unbearable, and reminds me of just how much I need a release.
"I'll be taking my leave now" I kiss mother's cheeks and give father a nod. Then turn around to leave before my jealousy turns to rage at how incapable I am at finding my Mate.
