David's POV I arrange the takeaway food on the makeshift dining table. Sitara walked in, I looked at her and blinked my eyes looking at her. I gave her my t-shirt and joggers to change in. The clothes don't exactly look too big on her. My clothes fit her perfectly, she rolled the joggers up. And the t-shirt looks big on her but in a good way. I look away when she looked at me, she is usually quiet but I can see the tiredness on her face today. Today's events have taken a toll on her. "I will serve your plate," I tell her picking up the plate. She nods her head sitting down, she placed her hand on the table with her chin placed on her palm. She closed her eyes as her wet hair locks were open framing her face. "Here." I place the plate before her and fill my plate before sitting down. I don't ask her anything and we silently eat our food with me taking glances at her once in a while. "We were meant to go to the after-party..." I look up as Sitara starts speaking. "The Freshers party don't allow the students to drink and dance with no time limit. So the students booked a guest house to host the after-party. I have never been to the after parties so I decided to go. Kavya doesn't drink and she was not feeling good so she left the Freshers party," she said looking at me. "Pranav, Isha and Nithya were with me. Pranav brought his brother's car. I was sitting in the back with Nithya while Pranav was driving and Isha was sitting in the front. We had vodka shots in the car but Pranav didn't drink as he was going to drive. I don't why I didn't felt good halfway to the party. When we crossed madhapur road number four, I told Pranav that I will get down." She sighed looking at the plate, "they tried to make me join them but I made my decision. So Pranav halted the car and I stepped out. I don't know what happened in that one minute or what went wrong, I was watching the car go when after crossing a few meters Pranav hit the current pole." "I rushed along with the public to the car. Nithya didn't get hurt but Pranav and Isha were hurt pretty bad. Isha hit her head hard as she wasn't wearing the seatbelt," Sitara said looking at me. I stayed quiet listening to her. "It was like a shock... I snapped out of it and called the ambulance. I went with them to the hospital as a guardian and didn't know where I lost my phone in that chaos." I keep my hand on hers and gently squeeze it. Her gaze goes to my hand holding hers. "Sitara... What you have done is marvellous. People wouldn't snap out of the shock and react quickly. You are brave and immediately thought of the situation and reacted fastly calling the ambulance. You did a good job... You couldn't stop what was going to happen but you saved them reflecting and taking the matters into your hands," I tell her. "It must've startled you but trust me... You did that one thing that people wouldn't quickly do. People take some time to snap out of the shock and to call the ambulance. Do not think much, they are safe... You are safe, let's pray for their early recovery." She nods her head, I remove my hand and start eating my food. She finished her food and stood up to keep her plate in the washing basin. "I will wash the dishes, leave them in the sink," I tell her. "Okay." "I will watch the TV," she said. I nodded my head. I finish my food, take the dishes to the kitchen and wash them all. I have a morning shift and then next week my night shift starts. I dry my hands and clean the kitchen counter before going to the living room. Sitara leaned back on the sofa watching a movie. "Go and sleep," I say standing behind the sofa. She leans back her head looking at me. "I want to stay and watch a movie. I can't sleep tonight," she said. Even if I want to stay with her I can't, my body isn't agreeing even if my tells me to stay and keep her company. I have been having continuous shifts and operations that I can hardly stay awake. "I'm sorry, even if I want to stay here and keep you company I can't stay awake." "It's fine, see you in the morning. And thank you," she said looking at me with her sharp brown eyes. "Good night," I tell her before walking to my room. I stop and turn around to see her looking back at the screen. I yawn going to my room and falling asleep.
