Growing up in a huge pack like mine with different monogamous and polygamous family, seeing love radiate through these families, the way they always had the others back, never neglecting a member of their family, for someone like me who grew up with no knowledge of my family background or relatives.
A part of me adored the sight of this family, and the other part envied them for what they had that I didn’t have.
And I longed for that day when I would have a family to call mine, to love, adore and cherish. Create my little family that would love me as much as I love them. This was the only thing I wished and prayed for, never asked for much. But life could be tricky.
I grew up in the packhouse, but according to what they let me on, a female omega had requested permission from the Alpha to care for me few days after my mom died.
A few years later, the omega died. I remember little about this as I was still a toddler. But I vaguely remember occasions where the Luna would wash me and tuck me in bed to sleep. She stopped, but I don’t remember when or why.
Later the nanny that help take care of children, fend for me on most occasions till I was old enough to draw baths for myself and clean floors of the packhouse. At age ten, I started helping with little chores in the packhouse occasionally.
I could school unlike the other omegas in the pack, but working these little chores was my p*****t for education, food and a roof over my head and there was no way I would complain about that.
I am cared for partially the only thing I lacked was a family of my own, but the few that paid attention to me in the packhouse treated me nicely. Aside for the kids who sometimes laugh at my clothing.
At age 12 I was already in middle school, my wolf hasn’t manifested yet because I had few months to my 13th birthday when I would shape-shift for the first time and I looked forward to it.
The only disappointment I have was the fact that I had stopped growing in height and body mass after my 11th year birthday. Hopefully, I’ll grow more after my shape-shifting. it’s common among our kind, I’ve seen most boys spurt a rapid growth after their wolf manifest.
Like our Alpha’s son Jason, and his friends, their shape-shifting ceremony was a year ago and now he looks like a 16-year-old wherein he is only thirteen.
I walked out the guest room I was told to clean, going back down the first floor to the kitchen to complete my task before dinner starts so I could rest and also do my assignments. Humming a song I always hear coming from the future alpha’s room as I swing the duster in my hand when I heard voices coming from under the stairs that led to the alpha’s suite.
l changed my course of direction walking towards the voices, I heard a whack sound and I hurried my steps peeping through space in between the stairs rails to see what was really going on.
“You should know your place and stop being a nuisance. I don’t even understand why father didn’t send you out the pack.”
Jason, the future Alpha, spat at his victim and she only hissed. I strained my neck to see the face of the victim, to realize it was Allison.
The beta’s daughter. Every member of this pack knew her s********e say she is a under a spell, others say she would bring bad luck to the pack. But everyone knew her even before the incidence of her inability to shift on her 13th birthday. Among all her peers and friends, Allison was the only one who didn’t shift.
According to the Alpha, it was something that had never happened in the history of our pack. They might have banished her from the pack if not for her father was second in command and her mother the third in command and they were both close friends with the Alpha instead the Alpha demoted her to the status of an omega.
And ever since she started working in the packhouse, Jason had taken it upon himself to make her miserable.
She mumbled a reply, hissing as she made to leave the future Alpha’s presence only for him to yank her back with her hair and I gasp at his hostile treatment. Jason looked up to see where the sound came from and I turned swiftly, hiding behind the walls. Soon as I heard him resume back to Allison, I hurried out of the place.
Funny how people change. Jason and Allison used to be best buddies, did almost everything together and members of the Pack suspected they might end up being mates. Their closeness was Undeniable. Funny how that dear friend drastically changes to the ringleader of the people that made her feel like s**t, simply because she differed from them.
I sighed shaking my head as I entered the kitchen sending a silent prayer to the moon goddess. ‘ dear goddess whatever you do, please do not give me an omega wolf’ I pleaded sending her a silent prayer.
Not that I have a thing against omegas, but I don’t want to be in a situation such as Allison’s. I know no one would blink an eye if I ever become a victim to bullying; I never want to be in her shoes or go through that. If her friends could turn their back on her, what would be the fate of me if I turned out to be an omega?
I don’t want to think about it. I sighed going back to washing the dishes when I felt my hand being yanked and the plate I was holding fell to the floor scattering to pieces.
“Alpha Jason.”
I greeted surprised yet bowing to show my respect.
“You were the one at the stairs, right?”
He asked sounding pissed and my eyes widen, did he see me? I shook my head frantically, fearing my voice. He was only a year older than me, yet he towered above me like he 16 years old. I didn’t trust my voice at the moment, so I didn’t bother to open my mouth to speak.
“I don’t like being lied to little one, I can smell your scent all over the place.”
he said, and I nodded frantically.
“What did you see?”
he asked, I shook my head again, and he growled?
“Use your words are you mute.”
He asked, and I almost shook my head before stopping midway.
“I saw nothing Alpha,”
I lied, hoping he would believe me and just leave me alone.
“That’s the second time you’re lying to me in a roll, do not test on my patient.”
he growled, and I bowed my head in submission.
“Forgive me, Alpha, I didn’t mean to see a thing.” I replied, and he sighed.
“if I hear a word of what you saw today, I’ll end you.”
he threatened as he exits the kitchen and I sighed in relief.... praying not to encounter him again.
