“Jamie, what do you mean?”, Jamil questioned his twin as he searched through his luggage for what to wear.
Leonard adjusted his position, so he was closer to where Jamie was seated and tried to glimpse at his MacBook, but Jamie gave him a glare that immediately shot down his attempt.
“What do you think you are doing?”, Jamie tilted his head sideways and gave Leonard a deadly gaze, one that could put a healthy man to his deathbed.
“You are taking too long to respond”, Leonard said impatiently. He needed something to keep Harry away from Avner's life.
“If you don't move your ass away from my side…”, Leonard let out a sigh, pouted his lips, and moved away from Jamie before he could complete his threat.
Juggling his leg on the ground as he waits for him to reveal the information he had on Harry.
“Good. Now, back to Harry. When I say he is the definition of a demon that has escaped from hell, I meant this…”, Jamie showed Leonard his MacBook screen to allow him to read the profile he had set up for him.
Leonard quickly took the MacBook from Jamie's hand and began scrolling through it. With every paragraph he read, his mood plummeted.
He placed his palm on his forehead in disbelief, letting out a disappointing sigh. He knew there was something weird about Harry, but he hadn't for once thought that Harry could do all those things to people. He was no person. He was a beast, Leonard thought. The only words he could utter were “Oh God”.
“What? Someone read it out for me”, Jamil implored his best friend and his twin.
“Jamil, Harry is a psychopath”, Leonard blurted out, still trying to wrap his head around what he had just read.
“He organized parties solely for boys to get raped. He almost killed his father's ex-wife because she wouldn't have s*x with their pool guy as he asked of her.”
“These are just the least of the things he has done. He is a monster who berates women, kills for fun, and, of course, because he comes from a rich family, they cover up all of his crimes and allow him to live like he is completely normal while that man has been diagnosed with multiple mental disorders,” Leonard summarizes what he could about all of Harry's crimes.
He stared into the screen of the MacBook, and all he could think about was how to get Avner away from Harry's clutch without Avner getting hurt.
“Do you think Avner knows about all Harry's atrocities?” Jamil walked over to them and sat at the table, bewildered.
“I don't think so,'' Leonard replied.
He knew Avner wouldn't date someone as evil as Harry if he learned the truth about who he was. He and Jamil began conversing about how to expose Harry's real identity to Avner in a way Avner would believe and not think that they were making it up because they wanted Harry out of his life.
While they were on it, Jamie sat down quietly and watched them. He let out a sigh of apprehension. If only they knew who Harry was, if only they knew he had hidden the most important part of the information from them about Harry's true identity.
Leonard wouldn't be able to handle the truth if he knew who Harry was and how Harry's actions had affected his life.
What would he do if he found out that Harry was the reason behind him leaving Avner's side?
How would he deal with the fact that Harry was the one who stopped him and Avner's relationship from happening? Or that Harry was even the cause of his mother's death. He shook his head and sighed again, as he knew things would only get difficult from here on out.
“Jamie”, Jamil called out, snapping him out of his thoughts.
“What is it?” He snapped and turned toward his twin.
“Mr. Avner is here”, Jamil wielded his eyes to direct Jamie's attention to where Avner was standing with his hand stretched out for a handshake.
“Why should I shake him? It's not like we have any relationship, or I want to form a relationship with him,” Jamil dished out.
He wasn't one to hide his emotions or know when to hold his tongue. He would say whatever came to his mouth without thinking about what the individual would feel. He wasn't concerned about those who weren't related to him. As long as they were not Leonard or Jamil, he had no business faking friendship with them or being soft spoken.
“Jamie, how rude of you. Shouldn't you be thanking him for letting me stay at his place?” Jamil chided him for his behavior, but Jamie rolled his eyes at him and kept on with his rude attitude.
“You are the one who accepted his offer, so why should I be thankful on your behalf? Besides, we are not some hobos who need shelter. I haven't worked my ass down for the last six years to be sheltered by a spoiled brat who has everything handed to him on a platter of gold,” Jamie retorted and stood up from where he was seated.
His words s***h through Avner's skin like blades. Who did he think he was to downplay his achievements and hard work? He grabbed Jamie, who was putting his MacBook into its bag, and glared at him with so much intensity.
“I may be a rich spoiled brat, but I have worked hard for all I have accomplished, and I won't allow you to talk down on me. I am holding in my anger because you are a guest of Leonard's, but you will show me some respect,” Avner declared, glaring profusely.
Leonard's face was alight with so much pride as he watched how Avner handled himself and had made the Almighty Jamie speechless.
Jamie pulled his hands out of Avner's hold and stormed out of the room, spewing profanities in the air, pissed at how Avner treated him.
Jamil chased after Jamie to calm him down and left Leonard and Avner alone in the room.
“Hmm, you handled yourself quite well”, Leonard said, breaking the awkward silence that was sitting in the room with him and Avner.
“Do you think I am still that naïve Avner who waited for his then-best friend to stand up for him even though I was older?”, Avner countered Leonard's words.
“Wow, you get defensive over anything but can't seem to see…”, Leonard held his tongue and refused to finish his statement. He was about to reveal Harry's ill acts to Avner with no proof.
“Why are you here?” Leonard immediately changed the subject, deterring Avner from suspecting that he was trying to hide something from him.
“Am I not allowed to come into this room? This is my house, Leo, and not yours or are you setting out to deprive me of walking into this place as you have deprived me of the truth behind your disappearance?”, Avner taunted Leo with his words in hopes of him giving in and finally telling him the truth behind his sudden disappearance.
“Avner, can you stop being cranky and tell me the reason you left your room that's on the left-wing and made your way down to Jamil's room when you could have just called through the intercom?” Leonard asked, ignoring Avner's words about his disappearance.
“I have a meeting to attend in an hour”, Avner informed him and walked out of the room, irked at the way Leonard was acting like, him requesting the truth was a sheer joke to him.
“Clown, that's what he is. Can't he see the signals I am giving to him? I have dropped my ego and endeavored to make it work with him, but he has refused to do the one thing that will bring us back together. Just the truth and I would end whatever I think I have going on with Harry, but the fool can't read the goddamn message,” Avner grumbled to himself.
“What do you want from me?”, Avner mimicked Leonard's words to himself, making a gesture in the air and making some weird faces as he walked through the hallway leading to his private study.
“Why are you acting like a mad man?” Stephen blocked Avner's path. He was worried.
What was going on with him? Stephen thought as he set out to read Avner's expression.
“You are asking me? Ask your coward of a son. He is the one who has made me this!”Avner yelled out and brushed Stephen out of his way, stomping his feet on the ground like a kid and continued with his curses.
Stephen rotated and looked at him, flabbergasted at his behavior. He left his mouth wide open as he watched Avner.
“Dad, you'll get flies in if you don't close your mouth”, Leonard leaned forward from Stephen's shoulders and whispered.
“How can I? Avner is functioning like a crazy person”, Stephen pulled Leonard in front of him and quizzed him about Avner's attitude that he was displaying.
Maybe Leonard's answer would make him understand why his young boss was acting like a man who had been possessed by an evil spirit.
“Father, I don't know what you are talking about,” Leonard replied, and walked out of him.
“Why are they getting mad at me? I am not the one who is too stubborn to admit my feelings for the other,” Stephen scoffed at the attitude of the two young lads.
Leonard made his way to Avner's study and informed him he was ready, and they should leave if they wanted to make it on time to the meeting. Avner raised his head and gazed at Leonard for a few seconds before he stood up from his seat.
“How could he be so good-looking?”, Avner mumbled under his breath as he walked out of his office.
He had hoped he could tame the beast in him that was telling him to devour Leonard and not mind about the past.
The mere thought of him devouring Leonard got him a bit aroused. He thought about how he would kiss his plump lips, his hands trailing all over that body of his that looked like that of a Greek God made him more stimulated.
“Fxck!”, he blurted out and turned around, facing Leonard, who was walking behind him.
“What is it? Are you okay?”, Leonard was worried about him, scanning over his body to see if he was injured.
“Leo”, Avner called out softly.
“If I asked you to do anything for me, would you?”, Avner questioned.
Avner was up to no good. Well, maybe to Harry he was up to no good, but to him and Leonard, he was up to some good, and he couldn't wait to set his plan in motion.
“Yes, but why do you ask?” Leonard replied, disturbed by Avner's sudden question.
“Good, that's all I need”, Avner smirked and made his way to the car.
They both got into the car. The chauffeur greeted both of them before he started the engine and drove off.
Avner pulled out his phone and sent a message to an unknown number. He had this mischievous expression plastered on his face after he was done sending the text. He tilted his head towards where Leonard was seated and smiled coyly at him. He then shook his head.
If only he knew, Avner thought as they drove off.
“Boss, we are here”, the chauffeur notified them and parked the vehicle.
Leonard rolled down the window and realized that they were at a special airstrip. He turned over and looked at Avner, stunned as to why they were at a private airstrip.
“I thought you said you had a meeting?”, He finally raised a question.
“Yes, I said I had a meeting, but I never said where”, Avner gave him a completely laid-back and nonchalant response.
Leonard chuckled and bit his lips in disbelief before he spoke.
“Avner, I am your bodyguard, I am supposed to know about all of your schedules ahead of time that way, I can assure your safety”, Leonard countered, irked by his boss who was sitting beside him in the car humming a song and pretending like he had done nothing wrong.
“I am sorry”, Avner apologized instantly.
He would not let this minor disagreement that was rearing its ugly head disrupt the plans he had set out for Leonard.
“Now, can you come down from the car and make sure the place is secure for me?” Avner smiled at him and fluttered his lashes.
Oh boy, he was up to no good, and Leonard did not know what his boss had in store for him.
“Unbelievable”, Leonard hissed and got down from the car.
He inspected the area to make sure it was secure for Avner before informing him to get out of the car.
They boarded the jet and were on their way to Canada.
Why the hell were they going to Canada for a meeting?
In an hour and thirty minutes, they had arrived and were welcomed by Sophia. She was already there waiting for them.
“What the hell is going on?” Leonard muttered to himself as soon as he saw Sophia.
“Sophie”, Avner called out warmly and swooped in for a hug.
“Avner, I haven't seen you ever since you got yourself a man”, Sophia teased Avner.
“Hello, Leonard”, Sophia greeted him, before directing them to the car that was waiting for them.
They drove down to the hotel that had already been booked and when they got there, Leonard realized that a suite room had been reserved for both him and Avner.
“I don't think we should stay in the same room”, Leonard protested, but Avner only frowned.
“How do you want to guard the body that you are rooms away from?”, Avner asked with an all-knowing smirk.
A confused Leonard followed Avner into the suite, where they both took different sides of the suite and locked their doors.
Leonard was about to relax and think of why they could be here when he heard Avner shout.
He ran into Avner's room immediately.
“What's wrong? What Happened?”, he asked as he rushed in.
He stopped in his tracks when he found Avner unharmed and unclad in any type of clothing.
He stood naked in front of the mirror, smiling as if he had just won the lottery.
Leonard did not understand what was going on and why Avner was naked, so, he stayed rooted to a spot.
Confused and slightly turned on by the sight in front of him.
