“s**t!”, Avner moved away from Leonard and started breathing rapidly as his heartbeat increased vehemently.
He had just kissed the person he had been endeavoring to resist, and Harry was outside knocking. What was he going to do?
Leonard's eyes were closed as he set out to lock what just happened into his memory. His heart continued fluttering as he thought about the kiss.
“I shouldn't have done that”, Avner murmured under his breath, and Leonard opened his eyes instantly as he heard those words come out of Avner's mouth.
“You shouldn't have kissed me? Avner, I don't get it. Are you saying you didn't feel what I felt when we kissed?”, Leonard let out in a low tone. His views were glossy as he focused his gaze on Avner, waiting for his response.
“I don't know what you are talking about, I should go,” Avner responded coldly.
Leonard chuckled in disbelief as he heard Avner's response. He bit his lips and dragged his hand through his hair, irritated and annoyed at how Avner was feigning insensibility to his questions.
“Whether or not you like it, Avner, it's only a matter of time before you realize we are meant to be, that you are as much my fate as I'm yours,” Leonard walked up to the door and opened it, causing Harry to fall flat into the room.
Avner hurried over to Harry and assisted him, dusting off his jacket.
“Why were you two in here alone?”, Harry asked his boyfriend as he looked at Avner, who was helping him.
“No reason”, Avner replied and sauntered out of the office, making his way to his office.
“No reason? You were both in there for quite some time, and what was he saying about fate and what was meant to be? Who is Leonard to you? Is he an ex-lover?”, Harry questioned, wanting to get an explanation, but Avner ignored him and just walked straight into his office as his mind was elsewhere, specifically on Leonard.
Avner laid down on the couch in his office and used the pillow to cover his face as he continued thinking about the kiss between him and Leonard. He was confused about what to do or how to act around Leonard. His mind was running with questions upon questions.
“Avner!”, Harry yelled out his name in outrage. It irked him about how he had been ignoring him and not giving him answers to his questions. It was like he wasn't even there.
“Oh, for f**k's sake, this is my office Harry, quit with your temperamental tantrums,” Avner yelled out in fury.
He already had a lot to deal with, and now Harry was trying to add his? If he had known he was going to act this way, then he wouldn't have accepted being in a relationship with him.
“I'm sorry, babe”, Harry hastily apologized.
He realized if he pushed further with his questions, Avner would want to call it quits, as he knew his personality too well. Avner disliked being stressed, and right now, Harry was pushing him to his limits.
Harry moved closer to Avner and bent down on his knees, placing his hands on his thighs as he spoke to him.
“Babe, I'm sorry I reacted the way I did. I just don't trust that bodyguard of yours. It's no secret that he likes you and would do anything to get you,” Harry explained.
He started trailing his fingers on Avner's face. He moved closer to Avner, going in for a kiss, but Avner stopped him and told him he wasn't in the mood for such, and he wanted to be left alone.
“Okay, I will let you be. It's almost time for my meeting with my dad. Call me when you feel better”, Harry faked a smile, kissed him on the cheek, bid him goodbye, and walked out of the office hoping Avner would stop him or say something to him, but he was disappointed as Avner didn't do any of that but let out a sigh of relief like as if a massive weight were lifted off his shoulders.
“I'm going to deal with him. Oh, Leonard Sullivan, you don't know what's about to hit you,” Harry mumbled to himself on his way out.
“What's about to hit me?”, Leonard leaned forward to Harry and asked.
Harry jumped, startled by Leonard's voice. He didn't expect to see him nor did he expect him to overhear what he was mumbling to himself.
“If it is not the boyfriend stealer”, Harry tilted his head facing Leonard, he had a despairing look on his face. His eyes were filled with hate and wrath.
“The elevator is here”, Leonard said with a smile, and walked in.
It irritated Harry at how Leonard was giving him an unconcerned attitude. He had just called him a boyfriend stealer, and yet, the fool was acting like he didn't hear him.
“Are you not getting in or are you still plotting about what to do to me in that head of yours?”, Leonard uttered sarcastically.
He had an odd smile on his face, like he was enjoying every bit of Harry's suffering.
“You are mocking me, right? You are nothing but a mere bodyguard”, Harry scoffed, and got into the elevator.
“A mere bodyguard but yet, I'm getting under your skin”, Leonard commented. He was having so much fun teasing Harry.
Harry ignored his words and kept his cool, as he preferred not to attract attention to them. He smirked and licked his lips and looked at Leonard, then shook his head.
Keep your cool, he urged himself.
The elevator bell beeped as they had both arrived on the first floor. Harry was about to leave when Leonard grabbed his hand and pulled him closer and then muttered words to him.
“Keep your eyes open, Harry. Keep looking over your shoulders because one day, what you think you have will slip out of your hands with no warning,” Leonard let go of him and walked out like he didn't just throw a threat at Harry.
Harry couldn't utter a single word as he was quite terrified of Leonard's words, which only aggravated his anger. He didn't get easily scared, but here he was, sweating profusely at the mere words of a bodyguard, huh?
“Impossible!”, Harry yelled out the moment he got into the car.
“Is everything okay, sir?”, Harry's chauffeur asked.
“No, everything is not okay. I am so f*****g pissed at myself. How can I let him scare me off like a child?”, Harry punched the window in a fit of rage, which had him bleeding. His driver didn't react, as he was used to his boss's outrageous attitude.
“Is it the Leonard issue?”, the chauffeur asked.
“The most irritating part is that I don't know s**t about him. So, I don't even know how to attack him, and I can't hurt Stephen Sullivan because Avner sees him as a father. My hands are tied,” Harry analyzed his situation with his driver.
“When has that ever stopped you, boss? If you want to kill Stephen Sullivan, you can do it. Yes, Mr. Avner would be sad, but you will be there to comfort him,” the driver advised.
He knew Harry too well and knew how low and evil he could get just to have his revenge. There had to be something else stopping him from hurting Stephen Sullivan.
“You don't get it, do you? If anything happens to Sullivan, I will lose Avner forever. You know what? Forget it. Just take me to Amy's place, I need to blow off some steam,” Harry pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and used it to tie his hands to stop its bleeding.

It had been days since the kiss between Leonard and Avner. Both parties had been avoiding each other, as none of them was willing to give in.
Avner had been fighting with his feelings ever since the kiss, he wanted to avoid accepting the fact that he enjoyed kissing Leonard and that he wanted more than just a kiss from him.
He was trying so hard to keep his feelings in check, and he knew seeing Leonard would only make it harder.
He pretended to be sick just to stay away from Leonard, but Stephen Sullivan knew what was going on and acted like he didn't, as he believed whatever issues they had going on between themselves, they were going to sort it out, it was just a matter of time.
Leonard had also been holding on strong and stopping himself from seeing Avner. He was still mad at him for saying that their kiss was a mistake. It was not like he forced him to kiss him, they both wanted it, which is why they had kissed. Besides, Avner kissed him first, and he reciprocated, so why did he say it was a mistake? It was like Avner was invalidating his feelings, which only got him madder.
“Good morning, dad”, Harry greeted him as he came across Stephen in the hallway.
“Morning, son. I was about to come to get you for breakfast. Good thing you are here. Please go tell Avner to come down for breakfast”, Stephen said, knowing fully well that those two had been avoiding each other like a plague.
“He is your boss, so why should I be the one to call him?”, Leonard snarled at him.
“He is your boss as well, son. You are his bodyguard, so what exactly are you saying?”, Stephen retorted.
“I'm not getting him. It's bad enough I have to sit down with him at the same table acting like all is well”, Leonard declined. He didn't even give his father a chance to convince him otherwise, he just dashed out on him.
“What am I going to do with the two of them? They love each other. Why can't they just say it and stop acting like kids fighting over a play toy?”, Stephen muttered as he strode down to Avner's room to call him down for breakfast.
“Avner, are you awake?”, Stephen knocked at his door, but he got no response from him.
He went in and checked if he was still asleep since he didn't give him a response.
He walked in and found an empty bed. He checked the bathroom to see if he was in there, but there was no sign of him. Not only that, but he called out his name, but he didn't get a response.
“Where could he be?”, Stephen pondered as he made his way downstairs searching for him, but instead he met the boys bickering about who was to move.
“Please move out of my way”, Avner said in a calm voice.
“No, why should I? You blocked my path, but I should be the one to move?”, Leonard sneered at him.
“You are….”, Stephen interjected, shouting at both of them.
“For fxck sake, makeup already and stop acting like children,” Stephen growled.
“I'm done with you both”, Stephen walked over to the dining table and took a seat. Avner and Leonard had complacent looks on their faces. They were embarrassed.
“You both, take a seat”, Stephen said, but the boys refused and kept mumbling.
“Sit your ass down. I wasn't asking, it was an order”, Stephen said sternly. They both immediately took their various seats.
“We are going to have breakfast like a normal family and when we are done, we will discuss this glaring issue you two have going”, Stephen signaled for butler Charles to bring in food.
Butler Charles brought out the food and served it to them. Stephen said the prayers first before they started eating. There was the utmost quiet as they ate.
Well, just until a surprise guest disrupted it.
“Darling!!”, a sleek voice called out, getting the attention of everyone.
“My God, Jamil!”, Leonard jumped out of his chair, shocked.
He couldn't believe he was seeing his best friend in front of him and not on his phone screen.
“You are just going to stand there? Not even an embrace?”, Jamil expressed.
“My bad, I was just taken aback”, Leonard ran into his arms and hugged him tightly. He buried his head in the embrace.
Avner watched them, and all he could think about was pulling Leonard out of Jamil's arms. It filled him with rage. Who is that? Who does he think he is, that he would walk into his home and hug his man? He didn't know when he stood up subconsciously and walked up to where the best of buddies were and grasped Leonard by his hand, pulling him out of Jamil's arms.
“He is mine!”, Avner declared surreptitiously.
