“Alina, they’ll be here in about five minutes,” Maddie says on the other side of my door.
“Okay,” I sigh out, not prepared for this evening at all. I just got done with my shower, and now it’s left up to some gossipy beauticians to finish the job- the best, my parents say, but also the ones that will spread the word on how ‘excited’ I am for this to happen. According to tradition back when the suitors’ ball was popular, everything had to be done by hand, including hair and makeup. So, I’ll only have a few more minutes of peace before I have to put on a fake smile and pretend that it’s my mission on finding a groom.
