I arrived at the door and, without pausing to announce myself, pushed it open. My sudden entrance startled the maids inside, causing them to jump with surprise as they turned to face me.
“Leave up," I stated firmly, my voice conveying a sense of authority that brooked no argument. The maids quickly departed, leaving me alone with Alice in the room.
