Chapter fourLucille came hurrying into the house from the stables and Delia was waiting for her in the drawing room. She realised that her sister was looking very lovely. Lovelier in fact than she had seen her for a long time and she was obviously very happy. It was something Delia thought that she ought to have noticed before. “I am back,” Lucille announced unnecessarily. “I have been waiting to talk to you.” There was a note in Delia’s voice that made Lucille feel apprehensive, but she managed to reply lightly, “What about?” “I trusted you.” Delia answered. “It never crossed my mind that you would deceive me!” Lucille drew in her breath. “Oh – that –” “Yes, that.
