Chapter 12

6457 Words

John’s flight touched down in Pokhara under cloud-heavy skies. As the twin turboprop passenger plane extended its flaps and skimmed over the bumpy runway, he stared aimlessly through the tiny window. He was home, if that was what it was. To be truthful, he wasn’t sure where he belonged anymore, and for the first time in his life, he felt rudderless and alone, despite the fact that he had family back in Oak Creek that wanted him there. In his mind’s eye, he saw Peg and the kids, still felt their hugs around him as they said their good-byes at the airport. Had he made a mistake coming back to Nepal? Honestly, he didn’t know. What really niggled at him, though, was Bob and Vanessa. All through his transpacific flight back to Nepal, he ruminated over their actions and the things they’d said.
