This novel is part of a larger story in the ‘Heart of Nepal’ series and is based on the tragedies that occurred in the Himalayas and other parts of Nepal in 2014. The first occurred on Mt. Everest (Chomolungma) on April 18 and took the lives of sixteen sherpa men who fix the lines on the route up through the perilous Khumbu Ice Fall. The second was a flash flood followed by a landslide that hit the tiny town of Mankha and other villages (occurring on August 14). It was brought on by a severe monsoon season. And finally, the Annapurna Circuit disaster, noted in this novel, that occurred in October, which took the lives of forty-three trekkers and sherpa guides.
