Michelle opened her eyes and stared up at the ceiling, not quite sure where she was, only that she felt warm and dizzy. Everything she saw looked alien and out of place. Where was she? The sensation of floating and spinning in darkness was fading and with it, a dull ache grew in her side. The pain intensified, pushing a muted cry to the surface. Her body tightened and jerked, sending mind-numbing jolts up her spine. Something sour trickled into her mouth as her stomach churned. She coughed and a moment later, there were voices entering the space around her. Her eyes fluttered as people went in and out of focus. Something strong and warm settled on her shoulder.
