Chapter6

THE DILEMA BELINDA I stood there, just transfixed. I didn't know how to react to the fact that I'm standing in front of the ruthless Alpha Damon of the Blackwater pack. “You are the Alpha?” I sounded like an i***t. “Yes, but that is not what I really came here to say.” He seemed unfazed. “I just rejected the Alpha of the Blackwater pack. I'm so dead.” My face must have turned white. My wolf tried to encourage me. “Just listen to what he has to say first.” She barked. I was just shivering. “No you're not. I just want to tell you that we are fated to be with each other.” That made absolutely no sense. Some days ago, I was fated to be with Tobias and now his enemy says the same thing. “What do you mean?” I tried as much to be respectful so that he doesn't bite my head off. “Haven't you always wondered why you are the only one with a silver fur in your pack? And why do your wolf always insist that you transform and go for a run alone?” I don't know, am I supposed to know the answer to that? But I didn't ask him that aloud. “Who says I usually run alone?” I tried to be defensive. “I guess you haven't developed the ability yet. I can hear only your wolf's thoughts. That's how I know that we are bonded.” I am a bit confused. The story I heard about the alpha was very scary. I even heard that he feeds on the heads of his victims for dinner. But the person standing before me looks very kind, gentle and patient. “So what are you saying?” I asked, a bit worried. “Let's do the mating ritual and get it over with. We will be as strong as ever and we will rule the whole world together.” As he tried moving closer, I stepped back. “What will you do to me if I say no?” He stepped back and looked at me intensely. “I will respect your wishes and give you time. That's just what you need. You will then see that I'm not the monster that people say that I am.” He didn't wait for my response. He walked out and close the door with sadness in his eyes. That was not what I expected at all. “I need to get out of here” I told my wolf. “And go where? All he is saying is the truth. There's more to it.” “What do you mean that there's more to it?” “You will soon find out. Let's just go for a run.” “Okay” DAMON “Oh s**t! What's wrong with that pup?” The wolf frustrated me but there was nothing I could do. She couldn't even let me explain better. “She will come around. Just give her some time” My wolf was trying to comfort me. “She didn't even wait to listen to me. Who doesn't want to get stronger? Who doesn't want to be the oppressor instead of being oppressed?” “I need you to focus on making her happy so that we can get her and get stronger.” “You're right. I think I need to run too. To clear my head.” Later in the evening, I called on Tatiana. I gave her clear instructions to be the omega attending to Belinda. I met her tending the gardens with the other omegas still. “Hello, Belinda” I tried to be as polite and friendly as possible. “Alpha Damon” she bowed slightly. I was embarrassed. “You don't have to do that” “You may not be an Alpha but you're still an Alpha” “You're not a prisoner here, neither are you a slave or a servant so you shouldn't be behaving like…” “Like what? An omega?” She fired. She looked so hot and irresistible that I had to contain all urge to pounce on her. “I’m really trying to get to know you but you're making it really hard. You're hell bent on letting others opinion of me being the judge.” I stormed out angrily. BELINDA I don't know why I felt bad for him as he turned his back and left. Ever since I got to the Blackwater pack, Damon has been very good to me and hasn't treated me badly the way my own pack treated me. He sent an omega to serve me and my response to him is harsh words. “Thank you, Tatiana. I'll be returning to my room now.” I dusted my skirt as I stood up to go. She followed me behind. It hasn't been long when Tobias rejected me as his mate and now I feel very insecure when Damon named me his mate too. A lot of things ran through my mind. If I let this accept Damon, everyone will believe that my family and the Blackwater pack really conspired to kill the former Alpha. “What do I do?” I asked my wolf. “Everyone already thinks you belong to a family of traitors. So what the hell are you bothered for?” She responded. “What if Damon is just playing with my feelings and is not exactly interested in me but wants to use me to get stronger?” “You forget that it's not only him that gets stronger. We also get stronger. Why are you tired of being the weak one when you can become a Luna?” “I don't want to be a Luna. I just want to be respected and treated like I'm normal.” “Do you still love Tobias?” My Luna asked. “What? What are you talking about?” “After what he and the pack did to you, you're still thinking about him?” “I told you to stop reading my thoughts.” “I didn't need to read your thoughts. It was obvious.” “I don't like him.” “I just don't want to be a toy in another Alpha's game and be rejected when he sees something wrong with me. How am I sure that he won't reject me when he finds out that I'm an orphan?” “You are trying to protect your heart because you are afraid that you will like him if you open yourself up.” When my wolf said those words, I became quiet. I never knew she had the ability to touch my soft spot like that. But that was the truth. “You don't have to like him. You just need to get stronger.” My wolf advised. Now, that sounds like her. I was wondering where she went. “But, I …” I was beginning to protest when my wolf shushed me. I didn't realise that I walked to the woods alone. “Stay quiet, we are not alone.” My wolf advised. I heard a twig break, and another running. My heart rate increased as I panicked. “What's happening?”
