I stepped in. One of the reasons why I stepped in is so that Bel will not tell Mother something that she will regret later.

“Well, Hayley said that she stretched her voice box when she turned and took the hit for you. So, it's still repeating and we should avoid having conversations with her. At least till she heals.”
I don't know how quickly I could form that lie off my head. I guess I'm going to have to get used to it from now.
After a while, my mother said.
“Very well, then. I wish you a speedy recovery. We will talk when you are very much better. I do owe you my life. Thank you.”
