Chapter 21Kol shook the water out of his fur as he stood on the jetty by Elijah’s island. There were scents there. Elora, Elijah, and the third scent had been there not too long ago, but still long enough ago that they could’ve gone far away if they had a car.
He walked up the trail but stopped a couple of steps off the jetty. Elijah and Elora hadn’t been there. Varg must’ve met them on the jetty and forced them back into the boat. But where had they gone? There was one empty boat bobbing in the middle of the lake, and Elijah’s boat was tied to the jetty.
They must’ve all gone in Frank’s canoe when they left, and the one drifting on the lake must’ve been how Varg had gotten there in the first place.
With a silent snarl, Kol went back into the water and swam back to the shore.
