Nicholas was half-sitting on the bed, resting on a couple of pillows. For a moment, I thought his expression hardened looking at the pill in my hand. Then it was gone and he was smirking, a little too smug for my comfort. He was holding his cellphone to his ear. "I'm fine. Don't worry." I turned my head, cursing the heavens for this turn of events again. Then I opened the water bottle, popped the Ibuprofen into my mouth and followed it with a swig of water as I listened in to their phone conversation.
