I waved goodbye to my friends as I rushed down the stairs where Autumn was already waiting for me. She'd asked me to go to the school store with her through text and I did need to buy a few things. I would have gone earlier while I was out getting a drink from the vending machine but it completely slipped off my mind when I saw Roan.
Autumn was looking up the stairs when I reached her. I pulled the bills from my skirt pocket to check that I had enough money. Joy wanted me to buy some pens for her too and Irene needed a refill for her correction tape. Why they wouldn't just go with us to the store was beyond me.
