I couldn’t stand there and not do anything. I couldn’t just stand there and watch her walk out of my life. I wasn’t done with her, not yet. I wanted her. And I was ready to do anything, except to beg her on my knees. But there was one thing I was sure would get to her. As much as I knew Queen, she would never back out of something that would question her pride. So without anything to say to persuade her, I blurted out, “You still owe me twenty two hundred dollars.”
She stopped. Her eyes narrowed. In disgust or in anger, it didn’t matter. But she was standing there, may be considering or ready to unleash her anger on me. I waited, as she bit down on her lower lip looking at me in the way that made me nervous. I barely stopped myself from fidgeting under her regard.
