Behind Those Glasses

Chapter 1

Hindi ko talaga maiwasang isipin kung bakit pa tayo pumupunta nang school kung pwede namang sa bahay nalang tayo mag-aaral. All I've seen inside this campus are bullying and not learning. Mas madami pa yung pambubully dito keysa natutunan. Bummer.

"Hey nerdy! Hindi ka ba makakita kapag wala yang salamin mo?"

"Four eyes"

"What a loser"

"I know right"

The usual insult I hear everyday. Palagi nalang akong binubully because I'm a nerd. I never cared. Besides, kasalanan ko bang ganito ako? I don't need to adjust for them just so I can fit in. I am my own president. My life, my choice. Kaya hindi ko nalang pinapansin ang mga nambubully sa akin. Kung papansinin ko sila mas sosobra sila.

Yes I was going to ignore them, but I felt something hit my head, and it's sticky. Napatigil ako sa paglalakad at kinapa yung ulo. Umalingawngaw ang malangsang baho ng itlog.

"Ooops, sorry. Akala ko kasi bird's nest yang buhok mo, bagay kasi. Hahahaha!"

"Hahahaha!"

Ke-aga-aga nabubwisit na ako. Kung ako pa yung Princess 10 years ago paniguradong humihikbi na ako. I was too young and didn't knew any better.

At dahil nasa tamang edad na ako, I have to keep my cool. Tsaka nakakatamad makikipag-away sakanila.

"Anong kaguluhan to?" Umalingawngaw ang boses ng nag-iisang King of the Bullies ng campus.

King Xander Chase Stein.

"H-hindi ako ang may gawa niyan King." Said the girl who threw the egg.

King's face became gloomy all of the sudden.

That's new. Siya kasi ang pasimuno sa lahat ng bullying sa school na ito. Kaya nakakapanibago yung reaksyon niya. Nag-iba na ba ang ihip ng hangin?

"Edi sino?!"

Ang kaninang maingay na lobby ay nabalot nang katahimikan.

Wala pa ring sumagot kaya nagdesisyon akong lumisan na. And just when I was about to walk away, I felt a powdery substance that's been showered upon my head. Flour.

"Ooohhhh!" Hiyawan ng lahat.

Fvck!

"You might wanna take a shower." Sarkastikong sabi ni King. He poured one bottle of water at me.

Bakit pa ako nagulat? What should I expect? He is the King of the bullies afterall.

"Hahahaha." They all laughed.

I just rolled my eyes and continued walking. They probably didn't know who they're messing with. Tsk. Nagsasayang lang ako ng oras kapag pinapansin ko pa sila. My time is precious nga diba?

"Where do you think you're going Nerd?" sigaw ni King.

I didn't mind them and continued walking. Minding them would mean wasting my time.

Naramdaman ko nalang hindi lang isa kundi limang itlog na tumama sa likuran ko.

"Happy birthday, freak!" Sigaw ulit ni King. Kinuyom ko ang kamao, para ikontrol ang galit ko. Easy Snow, control your temper.

Hindi ko naman birthday pero ano ang pinaggagawa nila? Mga walang magawa sa buhay. Tsk. Kulang sa aruga ng mga magulang.

I breathe in and out. Wag mo na silang pansinin. Pinatuloy ko ang paglakad ko nang may tumama sa ulo ko.

Napahinto ako dahil sa lakas ng impact at tumilapon ang salamin ko sa sahig. Halos umalog yung ulo ko sa lakas nang tama. Tumalon-talon ang bolang tumama sa ulo ko. s**t that hurts.

Napasobra na sila 'a! Gusto ata nilang makita yung kabilang pagkatao ko.

Humakbang ako ng isang hakbang upang pulutin ang salamin ko. Pinulot ko ito at pinunasan ang lenses tsaka sinuot ulit. Lumingon ako sa kanila with a pokerface kaya tumahimik sila. Hinihintay siguro nila kung ano ang gagawin ko.

"What now nerd?" Nakangising sabi ni King at lumapit sa akin.

"Take one more step and I'll punch you." Walang gana kong sabi. Tinatamad talaga ako pero nanggigigil ako sa pagmumukha ng isang 'to.

"Ooohhh." Hiyawan ng lahat.

"Oh no! I'm scared" Nag-iinarteng sabi nung kasama ni King. Girlfriend niya ata— more like fling. Flavor of the day?

Humakbang si King papalapit sa akin.

"What are you gonna do about it?" Nakangising sabi niya at inilapit ang mukha niya sa akin.He push my head using his finger and laughed. "Nerd"

"I'm warning you..."I said in a serious tone.

"Oh really? I'm not afraid" He said. My blood is boiling and at any moment I may lose my temper, but otherwise, I keep my cool.

Tinulak na naman niya ang noo ko kaya hindi ko napigilan ang galit ko. I grab his wrist and gripped it tightly.

"Urgh!" He exclaimed. I gave him a strong punch in the stomach that made him drop on the floor. Hinimas-himas niya ang tiyan na.

"Stupid.."I whispered and turned around.

"Oh my gosh! King are you okay?" Alalay nung babae sakanya. Hindi ko na sila nilingon pa.

"You will pay for this!" Rinig kong sigaw ni King. I raised my right hand and showed him my middle finger. Gago.

Dumiretso ako sa locker room upang kunin ang extra uniform ko and went straight to the shower room.

Hinubad ko ang uniform ko at yung salamin ko at nilagay sa tabi. Nagsimula akong maligo.

I don't know why they treat me like that I mean, I didn't even do anything to them. Siguro natural na sakanila yun. Or maybe they just hate me that much.

Now I'm done taking a bath I walk towards our classroom. Geez, ang layo pa nun. Nasa third floor pa. Kay aga-aga nabubwisit na ako. Male-late na ako nito.

Malaki ang hakbang na ginawa ko para makapunta na sa room. Huminto ako sa harap ng classroom at huminga ng malalim at inayos ang sarili bago kumatok.

I fixed my glasses and waited for someone to open the door pero wala pa ring bumukas nito. I knocked once again but to no avail.

I grab the door knob and open it myself. Pagkabukas ko ay ang tahimik na paligid. And when I say tahimik, it means walang tao.

I heard a loud thud. Nakakasiguro ako na may tumatakbo papunta sa direksyon ko. And I wasn't wrong. Napalingon ako sa babaeng tumatakbo. I grabbed her arm making her face me.

"Miss anong meron?" Tanong ko. Mukha pa lang niya parang sabik na sabik siya.

"May gulo kasi sa field. Kaya paniguradong nandun lahat ng estudyante" Gulo? Oh no.

When there is a riot, there must the twins.

"Sige, thank you"I said. Muling tumakbo ang babae. I rub my temple of frustration.

Those twins. I thought I made it clear to them already.

I calmly walk down the corridor and head down the field. I'm only 10 meters away from the field and I can hear the shouts and the noise from the field.

Pagdating ko sa field, wala akong makitang Sky or Ace dahil sa mga estudyanteng nagkukumpulan. How can I see them now?

I look at my left and right hoping to find something to see through the crowd. A spotted a huge tree tall enough to see through the crowd. And that is when I got an idea.

I silently creep towards the tree and silently climb it. I grab the first branch and carry myself using one hand only. As soon as I got myself on the first branch, I tried to crawl onto the second. Nang mafeel kong kumportable na ako, umupo ako at pinagmasdan ang paligid.

Wow, what a huge crowd of people.

"You wanna die b***h?"sigaw nung babae. Jackpot! Ayun si Ace and of course with her brother, Sky.

"You're funny" Ace chuckled sarcastically. "You think you can kill me? I don't think so"

Damn!

Hahablutin na sana ni Ace yung baril niya pero mas mabilis ako sa paghablot sa phone ko at tinawagan yung numero niya.

She stopped on her track and fished her phone inside her pocket. From where I am, nakita ko kung paano nagbago yung expression niya. From irritated to somewhat— delighted?

"My baby Demon?"

"Get the hell out of there" May diin kong sabi.

"Awe. But I'm having so much fun"

"Cut that s**t!"

"Fine. Alright"

I saw her frowned as she put down her phone before she faced the person she's fighting with. "I'll let this pass. But we're not done yet" she then left.

Bumaba na ako sa puno at dumiretso sa sulok. I heard footsteps coming my way and I know that it's them. Nung nasigurado kong sila na yun, I grabbed their wrists and dragged them away from that place.

"What are you two doing here?!"s Sgaw ko sakanila. Kinuha naman ni Sky ang sigarilyo niya at sinindihan ito. He then blow the smoke at me.

" Ano ba Sky. Wag mo akong idamay sa pagiging 2nd hand smoker mo!" Sky smirked and chuckled.

"Yeah right" He said. I just rolled my eyes at him. Binaling ko muli ang atensyon ko kay Ace.

"Ace, answer my question. What are you two doing here." Kung kanina ay iritang-irita ako. Ngayon kalmado na ako.

Instead of focusing on my question, she played with my hair instead.

"We just missed our little demon. That's all." She said.

I slap her hand. Ayokong pinaglalaruan yung buhok ko. Urghh! That is why I hate having conversation with them. Inuuna nila yung pangungulit.

"Come on, tell me already. "Asar kong sabi sakanila.

"Alright, geez. No need to be feisty." Pagsusuko ni Ace. I crossed my arms under my chest waiting for her to continue.

"We have good news and a bad news"

"Tell me the good news"

She was hesitant at first but it didn't stopped her. Bumuntong-hininga muna siya bago magsalita.

"We have tracked down the black lion's only son"

Napahinto ako sa sinabi niya.

Could it be?

Black Lion?

Only son?

I smell vengeance.
