There was an ease about him today that had never been there before. He stood an inch or so closer without seeming self-conscious or stiff, he held Liseny’s gaze longer without going hard, and he even almost smiled when he discovered Liseny waiting for him in their agreed-upon place nearly thirty minutes before their scheduled time. Liseny had gone to him last night in a moment of desperation, too lost in a world he didn’t recognize to cope with it much more, but it had done both of them good.
