Chapter 6While the chambers Tearnal had provided were luxurious, Liseny wanted nothing more than to leave them behind and find Tanash. He actually tried once. He opened the door and came face to face with a guard he didn’t recognize. Panic arose in the back of his throat so quickly, he slammed the door shut again without uttering a word. Another castle. Another prison. At least, that’s what it felt like. The one difference was the way the maid bowed and blushed when she brought him his meal. “What’s your name?” he asked. “Sylvia, my lord,” she said without meeting his eyes. She bolted before he could draw her into conversation. He picked at the meat and fruit she’d set out for him with little appetite. None of it was helped by the fact that King Tearnal took an eternity to return. Lis
