Gabe sat in Senior Sergeant Bentley’s office reading the file he had been handed. It was nearly 12 years old according to the date on the file but still marked unsolved, he read it from front to back, looked at his boss and said, “What do you want me to do with this?” As he flicked through the photographs of the crime scene. It was before he’d even gone to the academy, though barely so, a few weeks only. “I want you to fill in the blanks, Gabriel, look at the dates, the names, the places, and tell me what it is you think you’re looking at.” “It’s a murder case.
