Introduction
It's 3am, I am laying in my bed, thinking about my life. Does fate hate me? My name is Ella Mead, I'm 16 years old. I have natural platinum blonde hair and aqua blue eyes. I have sun kissed tan skin and I am 5'8 and 100lbs. A little to skinny for my liking. When I get up, it will finally be time for me to move on and head to college, I skipped a few years so I graduated early. I am so excited. I live in a huge mansion with my Uncle Ed, amazing right? No, not really. When I was two, My parents and I were headed to Broadway, to watch a play. My Uncle Ed, my father's brother, was meeting us there. My mom was six months pregnant with my little brother. It was pouring out, a truck came out of no where and hit our car. The car flipped multiple times and I remember my dad and mom reaching their hands back and grip holding my little baby hands with tears in their eyes, but that's all I remember, I assume I passed out. When I woke up in the hospital I had gauze wrapped around my stomach, due to a piece of metal from the car getting stuck in me and my right arm was in a cast and sling. The doctors told me that my parents and little brother didn't make it. That it's a miracle, that I'm alive. I don't feel like that. At that point I asked why I did, I wished every day I could join my family in the after life. I was officially an orphan. Ever since then, my Uncle Ed took me in. Well, sort of, he moved into my mom and dad's mansion in New York City and started treating me like I was the maid. I have to sleep in the kitchen, I made a bed out of flour bags in the pantry. He beats me Everytime he comes home drunk or when ever I speak a word. I learned real quick to never talk. I don't talk to anyone, ever. He use to call me names and tell me I was the one who killed my family. How did I do that when I was only two? I was afraid he would abuse me in other ways but so far he hasn't. I am not allowed to eat in the mansion, so I only eat school lunches. I had straight A's and a 4.0 GPA in school but no one wanted to be my friend. I passed my SAT testing with a score of 1600, you can't get higher than that. Everyone could see the bruises but no one helped, no one cared. I thought when I leave for college that would be the end of my horrible fate, but what I didn't know was that I was wrong. That was only the start of my horrible life.
"GET YOUR LAZY ASS UP RIGHT NOW" Uncle Ed bellowed out. I must have fell back to sleep. I jump up, picking up all the flour bags of the floor and start cooking my uncle's breakfast and coffee. I place his two Benedict eggs, hash browns and bacon in front of him with his coffee and newspaper to the side.
"Why is there luggage next to the front door?" Uncle Ed asked.
I don't answer I just look at him.
Uncle Ed glares at me, "You are not going anywhere."
I sigh inwardly, then nod my head in agreement. I then head to the bathroom to change. I will just leave when he goes down for his nap. I got accepted to Princeton University in New Jersey with a full scholarship, I am alittle scared people will pick on me. Usually I'm just a wall flower though, no one sees me. They ignore the abuse, the unhealthy weight, anything that has to do with me. I step out of my clothes and look in the mirror, I have bruises littering my body. I can see my ribs sticking out, and my hip bones pushed out as well. My shoulder is a purple blue, my uncle dislocated it last night and I had to pop it back in place, this is normal life for me. The only thing I like about my body is my face, I have a heart shape face with dimples when I smile. Perfect cheekbone, a little button nose and bright aqua eyes with full eyelashes. My hair is wavy and the perfect shade of platinum blonde and my lips are full with a rosy color to them, almost looks like I am always wearing lipstick. I sigh and jump in the shower. If only my parents didn't die, I miss them so much. What would it be like if they were still here? With a little brother running around to play with? I fantasize about a life with my family all the time, just wishing I could wake up from this horrible nightmare. I scrub my hair and body, trying to get all the bruises to wash off, all in vain. Can my life get much worse? I hop out of the shower and dry off with a hand towel. I put on my underwear then I pull my black skinny jeans on, a aqua blue off one shoulder long sleeve shirt and black flats. I brush my hair with my fingers and do a side braid tying it off with a rubber band. Then I slip on my baggy sweater.
It's now noon, I just fed my Uncle his lunch and he went up to his room to take his daily nap. I am waiting to hear him snoring so I can finally leave, the good part about college is I can sign my own stuff and don't need a gaurdian's signature. I get lost in thought while waiting, my father owned law firms, hotels and construction companies across the United States and over sea, last I knew it's still all in my father's name, being ran by his best friend, Jake Ross. He came to visit once when the accident happen, my uncle told him he wasn't allowed to show his face here again. All I know about the will is that my father left nothing to my uncle, just me. The mansion is in my name but I don't know about the company, who does it go to? Why didn't my uncle get it? My father use to tell me this story about two boys that were five years apart in age, one had the ambition and brains to work hard and get a life worth living, the other felt everything should be handed to him and be treated like a King, being selfish and greedy. The younger one started businesses all around the world and had a beautiful family with a wonderful princess, while the older one was jealous and always tried to take what the younger one had. I never understood the story till I started growing up. My father was the younger brother and my uncle the older brother, it makes since why my father didn't hand everything he owns over to my uncle, greed and selfishness is how you get no where in life and destroy all that is good. Kindness, focus and hard work gets you to where life wants you. I come out of my thoughts hearing my Uncle snoring, time to leave. I grab the five Grand I have saved up from working as a dishwasher at the diner down the road, they wanted me to be a waitress but I don't talk so they put me on dish duty, shoving it in my handbag, that use to be my mother's, and grabbing my suitcase. Good bye home, one day I will come back for you. With that thought I walk out the door and head to the bus station. I purchase my ticket and wait till my bus number is called. After a half hour, I am able to get on my bus. I find a seat near a window and think to myself, here I come Princeton. Dad and mom, I hope you are proud of me. With that I dose off.
I feel myself being shock by the shoulder, god that hurts, can't they stop. I jump up startled and look around. No one is on the bus but me and the bus driver.
"This is the last stop miss, Princeton University." The bus driver says kindly.
I give a smile and nod. He backs away while I get up and stretch, I grab my suit case and start heading off the bus waving a goodbye to the driver. I walk through the black iron gates and see the castle like college, it's amazing. My father's father built this when he was younger. My father also went to college here, his grades weren't as good as mine but when your father built the school you can be surprised the strings it can pull. I walk towards the administration office. When I walk in a see a lady in her fortys with big rim glasses and her brown hair in a messy bun. I walk up to her smiling.
"What's your name?" She asks without looking up. I tap her desk and she looks up while I hand her my ID.
"Ella Mead?" She questions. I nod my head in agreement. She hands my ID back to me and starts printing something off her computer.
"Here is your schedule and a map of the school." She says while handing me a bunch of papers. "You are in room 312, in the girls dorm. Are you in any relation to the Mead Inc.?"She asks while handing me a key, I assume for my room.
I nod my head again while taking everything and putting it in my handbag. "Do you know you are scheduled to do both business and lawyer major?" She asks.
I nod once again. She sighs, "Okay have a nice day." I wave and head to the girls dorm. I studied about this school since I was little, I could probably find my way around with my eyes closed. I get to my room and push the door open after using my key, it's a double room, I tried really hard for a single room but I guess you have to have money to get one of those. I walk in and see the left side already taken so I start unpacking my stuff on the right side. When I am done the door opens and I look over to see a girl with red hair, pale skin, green eyes and freckles scattered across her nose and cheek. She's not really skinny, but not fat either, just curvy, she's beautiful. She has a white crop top on and jean short shorts. She smiles at me and I can already tell she's one of those energetic, perky kinda girl. I am guessing she's not here because of her grades, guessing a money baby.
"Hello, my name's Ariel Young. I'm 18. What's your name? How old are you? You look young. Man your really pretty. I am so happy to have you as a room mate, we are going to have so much fun. I have been exploring and already got a list of parties we can go to." She says all in one breath, see I told you. Perky and energetic.
I smile at her and wave, I take out my ID and show her it.
"Ella? That's pretty. Your sixteen, wow. You don't talk much do you? That's okay I can talk for both of us. What are your majors? I'm going for business so I can take over my mother's fashion business." She says while smiling the whole time.
I show her my schedule and she gasps, "Two majors, that's impressive, you must be really smart. Who am I kidding, of course you are. Your sixteen and in college. It looks like we have all the business classes together except one. That's awesome. We will be able to walk together."
I nod my head and put my schedule back in my purse. "I'm hungry, do you wanna get dinner? There's this cute little Cafe on campus, it's not to far of a walk." I think for a minute and then nod my head yes and we head off to the cafe, while she talks my ear off. I like her. She lifts my spirits. Once we are done eating I went to pay but she said she got it and paid for both of us, we start walking back to the dorm when we run into a couple of guys. I would say they were in their second or third year of college they looked maybe nineteen or twenty. They stopped us, "Hey Ariel, who's your friend?" The one with frosted hair, pale skin, just like Ariel and green eyes asked. I guess she knows them.
"Travis leave us alone." Ariel says, irritated.
"Come on baby sis I just want to know who your friend is." The guy Ariel called Travis says.
"Your only five minutes older than me, were twins i***t. This is Ella." Ariel replies. I wave. I can't believe they are twins I really thought these guys were older, maybe it's the muscles. Now that I think of it other than the hair they look a lot alike and you can tell he dyed his hair.
I get out of my train of thought when Travis speaks again, "Hey Ella, I'm Travis, Ariel's older twin brother and these are my friends Justin and Aron." I wave again and give them a smile. Ariel blushes and smiles at Aron, she must like him, he has strawberry blonde hair with dark blue eyes and tan skin. Justin has sun kissed skin, like me with pitch black hair and light gray eyes, he's dreamy, but looks so familiar.
"We should be going." Ariel states and I nod my head in agreement. We start walking off and the three boys say goodbye. I just wave and Ariel sticks up her middle finger and continues walking. We get back to our dorm and I really wish I had the nerve to talk so I could ask her about Aron. Maybe one day. I go in the bathroom and change into my silky long sleeve and pants light pink pajamas. I get in bed and start dozing off, this bed is like heaven. I haven't slept in a bed since I was two years old. I sigh in exhaustion. Right before I fall asleep I hear Ariel say good night, I give a small smile and then I'm pulled into an heavenly sleep.
