The Hybrid’s Curse

CHAPTER TWO

                       DEEP SLEEP

                 *****RYAN POV********

     I was led into a dark room by Selene, I wanted to see Eric and see how he was doing, we were meant to wake up together why was he taking time to wake up. When we got to the door of the room Selene stopped to stare at me.

   “This is how far I can go, the last time I went in there the dark orbs covering him attacked me and almost got me killed, so I wouldn't want to risk going in again, I will call Maxwell and the rest to come stand guard in case you need their help,” she said opening the door and taking few steps backward

     “There won't be a need for that, I will be staying in here for some time” I am good her before closing the door behind me, I know she won't listen and still go-ahead to call them but on the brighter side, I will be safe a little.

     When I walked inside I was startled at the appearance of Eric, he was still asleep, he looks so peaceful as he slept, I was about to move forward when the dark orbs covering formed a sword ready to attack me and I took a step backward, I didn't come here for an attack moreover I wasn't prepared, and I don't have any ways of defeating the dark lord, so it would be useless if I start anything now and since Eric is unconscious it won't be difficult for it to possess his soul and Eric would be gone forever.

      Then I noticed a black huge mark around his neck where the orbs were coming out from, I didn't know what it means. The more I stare at it the more the orbs were coming in and out of the huge mark, damn I wouldn't call this a mark any more it's a hole. Is this how to extract the dark lord out of him.

      Without blinking twice, I ran out of the room just to find Cassy, Jake, Maxwell, and Selene guarding the door armed with weapons in case they heard me scream so that they can come to my rescue

    “I think I know how to get the dark lord out from him,” I said breathing heavily and a little smile on my face

     “How?” asked Cassy as the rest lowered down their weapons when they saw that I was alright

    “There is a dark hole at the side of his neck, where the orbs are going in and coming out of him, what if we find a way of extracting the orbs out of him and when they are gone we can find a way of sealing the dark lord in this necklace and destroying it forever,” I told them while showing them the necklace Selene gave to me during the war.

     “Done that” Jake said in-between disappointment

     “What do you mean you have done that?” I asked him, looking confused, here I was thinking I got the perfect plan in saving my mate only to be disappointed by Jake's words

     “When we saw the huge hole and the dark orbs coming in and out of the hole, Selene suggested we extract the orbs and then wait for you to wake so that you can do the trapping since it's your destiny, but it all failed, all plans went to waste,” Cassy said

    “Failed? How?” I wanted to know how they did it if they made a mistake while trying to extract the orb

   “First the orb tried to kill us and that's how serene nearly lost her life and second we found out it's the orb that is even saving Eric's life, it's protecting it from the dark lord. Without that orb, Eric would be no more and the dark lord would have completely consumed Eric's soul. So the orbs stay so that Eric would live” Cassy said explaining everything to me

      “Wait you just said the dark orb tried to kill all of you, and now you are saying it's the same thing that is protecting my mate from completely being consumed by the dark lord. Wow, how can something that fierce-looking thing be protecting Eric? Something is wrong somewhere” I needed to find out what's wrong before something happened, something we can't be able to explain.

      “A lot has happened since you were sleeping Ryan, a lot of things changed during that period between you and  Eric. Since you guys faced each other on the battlefield, the dark lord lost something dear to him, the dark orbs no longer protect the dark lord anymore, it's a new master is Eric.”

   ”wait are you saying because of my encounter with him when he transformed into the dark lord n I used the necklace on him, that's what made him lose control over the black orbs, which is now protecting Eric?" I asked them, the whole thing sounding and looking confused to me”.

      “Yes that's the summary of everything, I hope you got it. We are trying to find a way to communicate with it so that it can know we are on the same team,” Selene said

      “Trying to communicate with that thing doesn't know what's wrong or right. It's on protective spree and don't mind killing anything or anyone that's trying to harm his host including me. Doesn't it smells emotions?”

      “I am afraid no, but I believe it might be able to sense good or bad” selene said and I laughed out loud 

    “I doubt it will ever be able to sense good or bad, if like you said it could sense good, then why did he try to attack me?” I asked her

     “It must have thought you are a bad person, we are still making enquires of it and researching about, until we are done, we don't know for now. We should leave here I don't feel too good around the black orbs it brings bad memories to me,” Selene said as she walked away from Eric's door and the rest followed, I stopped to stare at Eric's closed-door one last time before running after them, this, whatever is wrong with Eric now is my fault, I have a high part in this, if only I didn't disappear a long time ago, I would have defeated the dark lot and nothing would have been wrong with my mate but on a second thought I won't have been here right now, and I won't have known him, should I say this is for the best or the worst.

When we entered into a room, I was amazed at how Selene was able to recreate the meeting room of king Alexander's former castle, matter of fact she mate this mountain a replica of the king's castle, even my room looks the same, so with Eric's but now isn't the time to talk about stupid things, my name needs my help that's what matters most to me now. Once inside we continued with our meeting

    “I think the orb will only listen to someone close to Eric” when she said it all eyes in the room were focused on me.

     “No, absolutely not me. The black orbs nearly attacked me, and you are saying it will listen to me? This is one messed up conclusion you all just made right now” I asked them. These people must be confused or are going mad

    “Yes of course you are his chosen mate and live partner or should we remind you about that again,” Jake said and the rest nodded in agreement

     “No don't remind me about anything but you all know, if I die, I we won't be able to trap the dark lord and save the world from the dark lord,” I told them

     “We know that's why we are going to take it a step at a time, slow and steady before he Eric awakens, then it would be difficult to communicate with it, and we don't know how long the dark lord will take for it to take full control of his orbs and Eric again. So you have to do this. Slow and steady wins the race”

      “Can't I think about it?” I asked them

      “Nothing to think of about it, everything is already conclu------” just then the door flew open and Scott ran in gasping hard for breath like he was being chased by someone.

     “What's wrong, is something after you?” I asked and everyone stood up to run to his side

     “I — I — I — I — it's Eric,” he said stammering

     “What happened to him!” Everyone asked at the same time

    “Eric I — I — I — is awake, my brother is awake,” he said bursting into tears.

   “Oh no, it's all ruined.”
