CONVINCING MATTHEW WAS NOT EASY

Alex’s P.O.V.

Anaira was right. She trusted him and she was right. When I saw him hugging Tina, I was shocked to see his expressions. It was like he was on verge of crying. Tina called him her Godfather. It proved that they never met before.

He was my cousin and now I was wondering what had kept me away from him. We were close but not so close as I and John. I always trusted John over him. Now, I was regretting my doubts about him. He didn’t even let me touch my daughter. He kept her with him all the time. Though, I was glad that there is someone for her who will take care of her just like me.

When he saw Anaira, he broke down at first sight. It was hard to hold him back. He took her into his arms and cried her heart aloud. One thing, I was sure that he couldn’t lay a finger on her, it’s so far to hurt her like this. I talked to Austin and he too thought so. He was glad that Anaira had caring persons besides her like this.

Right now, we were sitting in Austin’s office and Matthew was pacing to and fro fuming in anger. I and Austin were sitting quietly as we didn’t have anything to say.

“How could we let this happen Alex?”, he yelled in frustration and I knew he was right.

“I know Matthew, but please calm down. You are not helping right now”, I pleaded to him.

“Helping????”, he yelled again and I slapped my forehead mentally.

“What kind of help you expect from me… huh… She was in coma for the last 3 weeks and not even doctors can tell when will she awake. My daughter is lying on the bed still weak to stand on her feet. What do you think what kind of help can I give”, he yelled at me at the top of his lungs and Austin looked at him in worry.

“Matthew, I know that you are right. I was too so furious when I saw her first in this state. But, right now, I need to check your BP”, Austin said to Matthew and I got alerted. I instantly stood up from the chair I was sitting and stopped him in his track.

“Matthew, stop now. Please let him check your BP”, I pleaded with him while holding his arm. He immediately pulled off his arm from my grip and gave me a death glare.

“I am going to kill him whoever is responsible for their state. I am going to f*****g kill him”, he yelled again while shooting daggers at me. His were bloodshot now.

“Alex, make him sit on a chair. He is having an anxiety attack now”, Austin said to me and stood up from me while hitting the bell.

“Matthew, please sit down.  You need to calm down”, I pleaded with him again while dragging him towards the chair from his arm.

He tried to remove himself from my grip but I was firmed. “How can I be calm, Alex? How can I be? The thought of her state is killing me. She was my best friend and I was not there when she needed me most. How I can be calm, tell me damn it?”, he yelled at me again and I knew that he is losing himself. In frustration, he punched hard on the wall behind him. Instantly his knuckles started bleeding as it was a large blow. He started throwing the things in Austin’s office on the floor. Both I and Austin held him from his arms and Austin yelled on ward boys.

With the help of 2 ward boys, Austin could manage to take his BP while he was cursing God knows whom under his breath continuously.

“Matthew you need to calm down yourself. Your BP is comparatively higher right now”, Austin explained to him and it seemed that he understood. He sat down calmly on the chair and was staring his hands placed on the table.

I went to him and put my hand on his shoulder. He didn’t look at me. “I know what you were feeling right now, Matthew. I did feel the same when I saw Anaira there in the forest all shattered and devastated. They need us Matthew”, I said to him in a calm but broken tone. He suddenly stood up and pulled me in his embrace. “You were right, Anaira. It was me who was dumb here”, I talked with Anaira mentally in my brother’s embrace.

Austin cleared his throat and we both pulled away from each other. We both were crying right now. “You have to get on hold of your emotions right now boys. You have to take care of both of them. Tina is better now and we can discharge her if you want”, Austin informed us and we both looked at each other.

“Austin, I need some more days to figure out how to break this news to everyone. We still don’t know who is behind all this”, before I could say more, Matthew cut off me, “you still want to play dumb, Alex? Huh…”, he said to me in a surprised tone and I shut my mouth. I know what he wanted to say and I have no will right now to defend James here. I didn’t want to believe that James was the mastermind behind all this.

“We can’t blame him directly. We have to wait till Anaira awake. Only she can tell us what happened with her”, I tried to reason myself but it fumed his anger more.

“Ok… fine… do whatever you want to do… I am taking my daughter with me… I will keep her safe at every cost….. go and play best friends forever with him”, he again yelled on me and I sighed.

“We can ask Tina whether she has seen James before or not if you have any doubt but we don’t know what effect it will have on her”, Austin suggested but I denied but Matthew agreed.

“I think it could work. At least we will have at least a face of our enemy”, he said with a scoffed glaring at me. I really didn’t want to believe that James was behind all these.

Both of them were looking at me for my answer. After some time, I said to them, “fine. We will ask Tina but not now. Let her go home first”.

They both agree with me. Now the problem was where to shift her where she will be safe. After thinking about all our options, last I decided to shift her with me in my house. She will be safe there with Dad and Cynthia. They both agree on this. Austin also suggested that I should hire Danny for Tina as she was attached to him and he could take care of her in my absence. First time in my life, I was glad that I did at least a good thing by hiring Danny as her caretaker.

Now, the next trouble for me was, my father. How would he react when I broke the news about his granddaughter and Anaira.
