“Move it miss! You dare not keep the alpha waiting!”
Miranda trembled as each step she took brought her closer to the silver packhouse court, where her fate would be decided for intruding on the pack’s territory, her head was bent as she walked in chains past the city gates, where the majority of the silver wolves lived. As she passed, she could feel their glances pinned on her; the strange prisoner that was being taken into the court to meet with Alpha Damian, she was a she wolf, and she looked so small and innocent, mixed glances of worry and pity overshadowed her as she was taken in.
Finally entering the court,
“On your knees!” The guards behind her didn’t wait before pushing her mercilessly, so that her knees hit the ground with such painful force. She’d heard a lot of stories, but she never thought it would be this intense. Why were the silver wolves so cold to strangers entering their lands in such manner? And why the HELL didn’t she check properly before wandering into this place…?
“The alpha has arrived!”
As soon as the announcement was made, all the wolves gathered in the court quickly stood up, everywhere suddenly became silent and not a pin drop was heard, until the only thing audible was the sound of the alpha’s footsteps entering the court, followed by the guard behind him.
Miranda remained on her knees, trembling and hoping that alpha Damian would recognize her as someone far from the enemy. She’d known him in the past, when the wolf tribes were still together, from joint training as a young cub, but that was a very long time ago, way before the rogue war, she was only about three years old then, but her senses were as sharp as that of a strong middle-aged man. The only reason she’d been able to keep remembering Damian was because of the many stories shared amongst the wolf tribes about the triumphant silver pack and the mighty alpha that ruled over them. But for an infamous lotus princess, she had no reason to doubt that he wouldn’t know her at all.
The footsteps became louder as alpha Damian approached her, his steps in sync with her beating heart she swore she could almost hear perfectly, until he stood in front of her. She still had her head down facing the ground but then she saw his covered feet, fear radiating her heart, his dominance giving her the urge to find the nearest hole to crawl into, it would have been perfect if she could. She then felt his hand lift her cheek, raising her head to meet with his gaze, the both of them sharing eye contact as all the wolves in the court remained silent and watched.
He was handsome, even more handsome than when she’d known him before, he’d grown up too, with a well-built rock-hard body, green eyes, and dangling black hair that gave his face a perfect shape, he also had a smirk that sent her tripping.
She then heard Lily’s voice cheering her on, “nice one, keeping tripping for the man who’s about to send you to your early grave!”
Her wolf quickly made her snap back into reality, with the fear returning to her heart, she still held eye contact with Damian, they’d been looking at each other for someone minutes now, but he hadn’t said a word yet, only had that strange look on his face she couldn’t decipher, but of course he didn’t recognize her. It took a few more minutes before he let go of her face and then spoke, turning his back to her before he did.
“Who are you and what is your mission here?”
Her hands were shaking, sweat dripping from her palm, wetting the chains that bound her, but she’d dared not keep quiet, as this might be her only chance to save her life.
“My name is Miranda; I am the daughter of alpha Luther and princess of the Lotus tribe.”
He turned to face her then, alpha Damian’s face was one that hardly showed any emotions, but this time, no one missed the hint of surprise he revealed.
“Princess Miranda??? You’re alpha Luther’s cub?”
Miranda nodded her head confidently, as alpha Damian came closer to her again, “yes.”
“So princess, might I know what you were doing, trespassing on the lands that your pack wolves had no right to?”
“I-I’m sorry…. It was a mistake…. I swear I didn’t know when I came in here.”
He let out an empty laugh at her statement, “you didn’t know??? You didn’t notice the change in atmosphere? You didn’t notice the barriers placed at the borders? You didn’t notice the difference in vegetation or any other signs that even a blind man would see. You didn’t know???”
Sighs, “I know it sounds crazy…. But I swear, it’s the truth. I got carried away by something that happened to me and…. I don’t know, I just found myself here.”
Rather than feel pity, he seemed disgusted by the flimsy excuses she was giving, “give me one good reason why I shouldn’t kill you right now, princess.”
Her voice became louder then, she didn’t know where the sudden boldness came from, the need to defend herself because she knew she didn’t deserve any of this treatment, the need for alpha Damian to see that she was telling the truth.
“Because I am not the enemy. Yes… I came here, I trespassed, I stepped on lands I shouldn’t! But it was a mistake! I don’t have any ulterior motive apart from being a victim of circumstance. Please!!! You have to believe me!!!”
He was standing in front of her again, lifting her chin again to meet with his gaze, staring into her eyes again, before he spoke the words gently, without any form of compassion blinding him…
“I don’t believe you… And not just that, I don’t believe you’re the lotus princess either. No princess would do what you just did, not when she values her head.”
She closed her eyes as a tear slipped down her face, she’d tried all she could, alpha Damian just didn’t seem to be moved by anything she did or said.
He smirked, letting go of her face and went towards the alpha seat in the center of the court, giving the guard an order before he sat to watch, “kill her!”
