I was by the lake with my best friend Jason, on the hill near the mountains and cliffs in Swan Hills. Swan hill is a small town we live in known for its nature and pure lakes. Oh and the fact that this place is a werewolf zone, but of course humans from elsewhere don't know that. All of Swan hill is intruded by my pack, Dawn Lake Pack; most people say Dawn Pack for short.
We have our border line which separates us from Downright Pack which is probably one of the strongest packs. As for Dawn Pack we of course are a really strong pack too, but take the whole Alpha and business stuff less seriously, meaning we're all like one big family and don't tend to start fights or other unacceptable things needing the Alphas presence constantly. We all still of course show our respect to our Alpha and the others intended.
Our Alpha, Jason's brother Drew is a great guy and twenty-two years old, that making Jason the beta at eighteen. Well I'm seventeen a year younger than Jason but I've been friends with Jason for years growing up in the pack house. But now I live in a small house with my mother and father. Everyone has there own personal house and the Pack one we share.
I guess I was an average she-wolf. Long brown hair with specks of blonde at the end. I have hazel eyes with brown and green in it. The green from my dad and brown from my mother. I was normal in weight maybe skinny, but having curves I was normal I guess.
Oh, well a difference from most wolves I have is that I have Alpha Blood or maybe did. My father and mother were Alpha and Luna of their previous pack; Twilight Pack. When I was two years old it was attacked by rogues; the pack being a small one, half of the wolves were wiped out and the other remaining joined Dawn Lake Pack. This meaning I have brown fur with black paws.
As for my mate, I don't have one but I do believe I will find my mate very soon. Jason has found his mate, Jasmine. Shes a sweet quiet girl but for all I know their madly and deeply in love, the way they should be. So has Alpha Drew, mates with Luna Violet. Most werewolves find there mate at seventeen to nineteen, sixteen is just the age were you could possibly find your mate.
So I had two years or whenever ahead of me or maybe I could find my mate very soon. But for now I didn't mind when that time was. I was more focused on my life now, sitting here with my best friend is one of the most relaxing things to do; even if he can be extremely annoying. I lightly chuckled at the thought of it.
"Whats so funny now Vanity?" I was brought back to reality with Jason's nagging. We were sitting on the hill, more specifically on the long grass in the wood were we came often. Well- and yes my name is Vanity, Vanity Fern daughter of Victor Fern And Anna Fern. Sometimes I think they named me when they were drunk.
"Nothing Jason, I was just thinking about how annoying and what an disturbing boy you are," I said trying to keep a straight face but failed horribly.
"Very funny." He said sarcastically. Then he started laughing, the hold-your-stomach-rolling-around-dieing, one; and that's exactly what he did he fell to his death rolling of the cliff.
Nah just Kidding. Oh though that would be quite interesting.
"I know I'm funny Jason, but we gotta get going; school starts in half an hour. So much for walking to school early." I said mumbling, getting up from the grass brushing the dirt off of my butt.
As for Jason, he continued to sit there sighing dramatically holding his hands up for me to help him up. This time it was my turn to sigh, yeah his good looking and well build but looks don't mean everything. Werewolves can be a bit heavy.
Once we both were up, we started walking through the similar streets taking us to Swan Lake High.
Walking through the familiar doors of Swan Lake High, it felt like a thousand scents hit me at once like every other morning. Unfortunately none of the scents were appealing meaning my mate isn't in this school. I waved as Jason headed towards block C since he was older than me, we were separated in different age groups.
Heading to my locker I saw a girl I knew, Lucy a few lockers down. Grabbing my books I went to hers leaning against the one next to it.
"Hey Lucy." I said putting my weight against the lock near hers, resting my head lazily on it.
She looked up from the lock and gave me a smile and glanced back down to her lock.
"Hello Vanity," she said kindly and after she finished fidgeting around with her locker, her phone rang and she took it out of her pocket completely forgetting about me.
I stood up properly and turned around, not only two seconds later I bumped into a hard surface. Regaining my balance I looked up to see I had bumped into the side of someone.
"Oh, s**t Sorry." I mumbled looking up to see who it was.
I looked up into set of green eyes, and saw Connor Riley smirking at me.
"It's fine, but you should watch were your going. Maybe you can make up for that clumsiness?" Connor said lightly trailing his hand down my arm.
I of course moved away from his wandering hand and started walking away.
"I think an apology was fine." With that I made a left turn disappearing from his view
"Stupid creep-" I was cut off cursing under my breath when a good friend of mine showed up.
"Vanity, come on! Lets get to first class!" My friend Hanna chirped grabbing on to my arm and practically dragged me to chemistry.
"Whoa, Hanna there's still like what ten minutes?"
Of course she ignored me. Walking in the class room doors everyone was just talking and sitting around, seeing the teacher wasn't here yet. Hanna and I took our seats beside each other in around the middle rows.
"So, don't forget I'm picking you up with Luke tonight for Peters party, be ready at ten." Hanna reminded me.
Oh wait party? I had completely forgotten about that. Luke was Hanna's mate and I swear there one of the cutest couples.
"that's tonight?" I groaned slumping back in my chair.
"Ah, yeah? And guess what your going and you better be ready at ten." Hanna threatened.
Rolling my eyes at her I decided id go. "Yes ma'am."
Just then Mr Howard made an entrance scattering his book out on the desk.
"Uh, great another day of this crap." I muttered grumpily.
