"I love you so much baby. I can't believe that we are going to be parents." Daniel kissed her hand while holding it firmly in his. She rolled her eyes in pleasure as his lips touched her back of the hand. It was a short peck but it affected her. "I know but this is the reality. I am excited. I can't wait to see the look on everyone's face." She giggled agreeing with him. It would be so much fun. Maybe she should secretly hide a camera somewhere or Daniel could hold it while she delivers the news. Yeah that sounds like something he can do. "We should call them over tonight at over place. Let's celebrate" He suggested while trying not to look at her and keeping his eyes focused on the road. "Yeah? But I was hoping we would do something tonight. Just the two of us" She pouted while rubbing her belly. She felt strange that there was a life growing inside of her and to say that she was happy would be an understatement. She cannot believe that she got to find out just today after being pregnant for two months. "Really?" Daniel asked in a husky voice. He was going to do anything for her at this moment. If she tells him to just pull over at the moment he would do it. But she wouldn't because they are in the middle of the road. "Hmm. Something with chocolate and blindfold." She whispered seeing his fist tighten around the steering wheel. Even after all these years her voice alone does the trick. He's far too easy for her. "Baby stop making promises you can't keep." He mumbled while looking ahead. He had to take a right turn and then left one to reach back to their place. "Are you calling me a liar now? I'm offended." She said folding her arms, forcefully extracting her hand from his. "Babe remember the last time when you asked me to get a condom and before I could you feel asleep?" He questioned hiding his smile. "Because I was tired and you were taking too much time." She exclaimed. "The drawer was just few steps away." He said as he took a right turn and then raised his head towards her to give her a look and just then she saw a car coming towards them. She yelled at him but it was too late as their car was hit and it swevelled few feet away crushing their bodies between the seat and the hood. She woke up with a gasp and looked around. Daniel was not beside her. As usual. She tried to calm herself. Took few deep breaths. It felt like it happened yesterday even though few months had passed for that incident. She then turned towards the clock on the nightstand and sighed. It was three am in the morning. She let out a sigh. Nightmares were not new for her. They had been haunting her since that incident but there are few nights when she can sleep peacefully and by the looks of it this definitely wasn't the one. She wiped the tears formed at the corner of her eyes and laid back on her bed. They were haunting and always reminding her of something precious she lost. Her baby. Taking a deep breath and counting the numbers she tried to fall asleep. It was a trick her counsellor had told her when she was unable to sleepa and went into episode once. It was rough living like that. But she couldn't do anything much about it. *** Daniel groaned as his phone rung the vibrations causing the table to vibrate. He swallowed and felt his throat like a sandpaper and shut his mouth. He opened his eyes and blinked his eyes repeatedly. He covered his eyes with his palm feeling his neck hurting because of the awkward position he was sleeping on. He should have went and slept on the bed instead of thinking that the study table would be okay place. The ringing continued annoying him. He picked his phone ignoring the wooden bits cracked at the side. He squinted his eyes looking at the bright screen. It was his Dad calling which was not unusual but at this time it was. He quickly swiped and pressed the phone against his ear. "Hello?" He rumbled, his tone sleepy and hazy. "Daniel were you sleeping?" His father's deep voice resonated back. Daniel cleared his throat and repeatedly blinked his eyes to get rid of the sleep. It was difficult. "Umm...yes. What is it papa?" He questioned. He then glanced at the huge clock on the wall. It was seven in the morning and surely his father didn't think he would be awake now. It's not even fully morning yet. It is for most of them but not for Daniel apparently. It is the time when he is in middle of sleep. "The delivery is halted. I want you to go and look into it. Maybe send it through yours." His father said in a softer tone. If he didn't know his father he would have said that's a pleading voice of his. But sadly he didn't know that. He wasn't the type to beg or plead anyone for doing his work. It was either do them or die. Yeah his father took the no nonsense policy too strictly. Daniel shook his head, as if father could see him. Then he realised that his father couldn't see him. He can't do that. He would never let the company name get involved in this. That was his years hard work and he wasn't letting it get ruined for some company shipment or the delivery. Whatever it was. "Dad you know my policy. I dont mix those two. Send someone else." He groaned. "Now now Daniel if I had someone else why would I be calling you? Hmm? This is very important. Get out of there and go check on the delivery." His father yelled, his thick accent not helping at all. Daniel hated that when his father does that. Thinks that he can boss him and do anything he wants. It was something he always wanted to say to his father that he can stop controlling him now but he couldn't. "But just so we are clear I'm not using my company's resources to deliver the shipment." He said in a firm tone, leaving no room for argument. He had to do this, clear this thing or his father would think that it's okay to boss him around. And as much as knew his father he can say that his father would use some methods to try and persuade into using his resources. "Oaky whatever. Just move out of the house first." His father yelled, impatient. Like he wanted Daniel to go just now. "What's the hurry? The delivery won't arrive until late." Daniel said with a huff. He wanted to go and sleep beside his wife who was after that incident might be more angry. He had to make right with her. "It's not in this town. It's shifted so you need to hurry." His father said in a desperate tone. "Why would you shift it last minute?" Daniel asked confused. This never happens in their business. Usually last minute changes are made only if something suspicious happens or they are informed that something wrong will happen. They have too many insiders. "Are we playing twenty questions here? Because I have other things to do son." His father's sarcastic tone greeted him. He rolled his eyes. "No we are not. I'm going. Just text me the address."He answered and hung up the phone. It was always like this. His father didn't entirely tryst him perhaps he thought. His brother won't get the same treatment as he does. He's sure of that. With a sigh he got up from his seat and walked out of his study room. The floorboard creaked under his feet and he cringed at that. He wanted to be as quiet as possible. He was sure as hell not trying to wake up Natasha. She was already in a angry mood. Again why type of husband forgets his wife's birthday? It's not like he did that purposefully. He wants to explain her that but he cannot without revealing his secret and that would be another epic fight. Oh that would be a war. He tried to get out of his meeting. He really did and he even sent her flowers in the afternoon along with the message that he'll be back soon and they can have dinner in the evening. Maybe he shouldn't have done that. Sent the message to her that he will be back when himself wasn't sure. It's not like he did it on purpose but who will tell her that? She's still onto him about it and will necessarily hold that onto his head for their next fight. He slowly pushed open the door of their bed room and tip toed inside. It was not particularly bright maybe because of the winter season. He stood at the edge of the bed and looked at her sleeping peacefully in her bed with the most peaceful and innocent look. He wished that she would be the same when she greets him big that's like expecting too much. He observed her for a while and then moved to his wardrobe to pick out something more comfortable to change into. Just then his phone vibrated with a message. Stifling his groan he unlocked the message and narrowed his eyes. The address was of the whole another town. And it was like two hour drive from here. He let out a sigh. He didn't have any choice now. Did he? "Daniel?" He stiffened hearing her raspy voice from her. He turned around locking his phone and saw that she had her eyes closed but then her hands were shifted. So he figured that she was still sleeping. "Where are you going?" She slurred cracking open her one eye and staring at him. His eyes widened comically because he thought she was sleeping. "Work." He answered finding his voice. Seriously why was he so freaked out? It was not like she would march here and check his phone. "This early?" "Yeah it's out of town so I'll be late today." He sheepishly said pulling at his strands. "Another meeting?" She snarled not fully looking at him and he knew that she must be angry with him because it was weekend today and he should spend some time with her instead of running off to some meeting. "Important one. I'll try to be back soon sweetheart." He cooed. "Don't bother please." She said and turned her back on him. It was going to be a long day, he sighed. ***
