The Alpha's Substitute Wife

Chapter 7 The bad news

Barbara was seen inside her chamber happily preparing happily to be a bride to the Barrington family. Now her plans are finally falling in place. She has always had this desire to be the luna of the Wolfsbury pack and now she just can't wait to stand in the aisle with her dream man Lucian Barrington.

Barbara's thought was disrupted when suddenly the door to her flung open and Edward, her father the alpha of the pack came in with a look of anger.

"Father, what's wrong? Why are you so angry?" She asked concern laced on her face as she turned in his direction.

"My husband, is there any news from the Barrington family?" Her mother, Diana, came inside also.

"I don't want to hear the name of the Barrington family anymore in this house!" Alpha Edward fired angrily. "It was clearly said that Barbara and Lucian were getting married, so why did it change to become Arthur?"

"What are you talking about father?" Barbara suddenly became nervous to the point that she felt her palms becoming sweaty and her breath choking.

The Smith family doesn't want anything to do with Arthur; they want their daughter for the alpha so she could be crowned the luna.

"Sweetheart, are you mistaken? Arthur is an incapable vegetable man. How could the Barrington family suddenly change the name to Arthur?"

"The Barrington family personally informed me today that Barbara and Arthur will be getting married this month instead of Lucian like we had planned."

"What!!!” Barbara shrinked. "If you want me to marry a cripple, incapable man, doesn't that make me a widow!?” With her face clouded with fear and her eyes moist with tears, she ran to her father. " Father, please I don't want it! No, I don't want to marry a cripple person, I want to marry the Alpha."

"Edward makes it clear to the Barrington family, how can Barbara, our daughter, be allowed to marry someone in a crippled state?”

Suddenly Barbara turned from her father and she faced her mother. "Mother, I know, it must be that witch Bianca. She must have told the Barrington family to replace me. Yes, it must be her fault. I won't marry a vegetative person, she will have to marry him instead.”

On hearing the noise downstairs from her chamber, Bianca decided to come down to know what was going on and she was shocked to hear Barbara accusing her of what she hadn't done.

"Barbara, what makes you think I will do such a thing? You better watch your mouth." Bianca asked walking closer to them as the whole family turned in her direction, their attention fixed on her. ”I didn't say a word last night to anyone concerning the marriage. I think this is your reward for what you did to me. For sending me to do such a wicked thing." Bianca glared at her, not minding the presence of their parents.

Bianca was so angry with them all for accusing her of something she never did after offering her virginity for the sake of the family.

"How dare you speak to your sister in such a manner?" Her father moved closer to her and spank her hard across her face, the effect making her eyes watery immediately.

Anger mixed with sadness overflowed her heart as she watched the people she called family standing before her. They deceived her, humiliated her and now she is being bullied by them. These are the people she called her family.

"Since you never regarded me as part of the family, why did you adopt me?" She placed a hand on her burning cheeks ”You shouldn't have picked me up." With that, she turned around and ran back to her room.

She never expected the Smith family to still treat her in such a disheartening manner after giving up the most precious thing for them.

Throughout the day Bianca didn't come out of her room. She locked herself up pouring her broken tears alone in her room. When it was late at night her mother decided to come check on her.

"Bianca, open the door. You must be starving since you didn't eat lunch. I have asked a maid to make your favorite dish come downstairs and eat some." Her mother called from outside.

"I'm not hungry, mother." Bianca cried from inside her room.

"Even if you are not hungry you have to eat. You worked hard last night, I am a woman and I know it is not easy.” She paused when she didn't hear any words from her then she continued. ”Sorry for what your father did to you, don't blame your father for being angry he just can't help it either after receiving such shocking news from the Barrington family.

Her mother was able to persuade her after a long time before she finally opened the door. Her mother gave her a bright smile, then she took her hand "Don't be angry with your sister, she has been so bad-tempered since she was a child, come down to eat, the whole family is waiting for you, and your sister is too, she knew she was wrong and she is sorry."

"Does she really know she's wrong?" Bianca became very suspicious of her mother's words because she knew her sister Barbara would never admit to being wrong or even felt remorseful about her actions. She has lots of pride while growing up as a child and that character never leaves her.

Her mother pulled her downstairs and immediately her eyes came in contact with Barbara. She gave her a sign with her eyes, and Barbara hurried up to meet Bianca.

She rushed and grabbed Bianca on her hands giving her an apologetic look "Bianca, I know I was so emotional and rude to you in the morning. You know I always like to talk nonsense, but I am so sorry, forgive me."

"Look, your sister has apologized to you. Now that we have gathered as a family Let's sit down and eat." The two women pulled Bianca and made her sit.

Bianca felt that something is wrong seeing the behavior of the two women and how soft they have become to her most especially Barbara who had never liked her. It was a shock to Bianca and she felt that something was wrong.

She was pulled to the table by the two of them, who served her vegetable soup and apple juice, which was something she had never received before.

"Mother, are you trying to say something to me?" Bianca turned to face her mother, giving her a suspicious look.

"Bianca I can't hide this from you." Her mother moves closer to her and strokes her blonde hair gently. "The Barrington family has decided to marry our family with their second son Arthur and we can't afford to miss this opportunity. Why don't you marry him instead of your sister?” Her mother dropped the bombshell.

"What!!!" This news was the least of what she expected from her mother.

"Mother, isn't this the marriage between my sister and the Barrington family?" She glances at her mother with her ocean blue eyes. "Why is it connected to me? How old am I? I won't agree to this." Bianca is already going crazy and irritated at their inconsiderate characters and she felt like she would choke to death if she keeps breathing the same air with these people.

They are just trying to turn everything in the favor of their daughter.

Her mother clears her throat still having that hypocritical smile on her face, "Bianca you are about to turn eighteen this year, so it's normal to talk about marriage. Besides, the Black Moon pack is the wealthiest and strongest pack among all. This is the type of family everyone will want to have a relationship with. If it wasn't for your grandfather's kindness to the Black Moon in the past, we wouldn't have this chance. It's your honor to marry the Sebastian family."

"Sister, please do this for me once again. If you marry from the Black Moon Pack it will be an honor to ally with the strongest pack. Please be a substitute for me."

Those words from her family sealed her fate and now she is trapped as a substitute wife to the ruthless Alpha who loathed.
