Tasha’s P.O.V
Home...
One word that constitutes all the comfort is home. I missed it so much. The first thing being back to my place was getting a warm long shower. It was good getting rid of all the smells and feeling fresh but it actually made me fall into a deep slumber.
A 2 year old me, was playing when my mom came looking for me. Seeing me, immersed in puzzles and dictionary she let out a little laugh. I turned to look at her expectantly.
“What is it with the dictionary?” She asked bemused.
“I just like it.” I said in lisp as I shrugged and going back to the puzzle.
“Have you taken your juice?” She asked me pointing to a cough syrup.
“I know it’s not a juice, it’s a....” and I stuck upon the word that I heard someone mention it sometime ago.
She looked at me urging me to go on as the corners of her lips quirked up.
Tonic...
“Yup, (turning around) thanks... (Facing my mom again) it’s tonic.” I smiled proudly as I watched her smile fade and concern took over as she looked behind to find nothing.
“Whom are you thanking sweetie?” she asked me.
“I cannot see anyone but there is someone always helping me.” I gave her a toothy grin.
I didn’t know for how long I had slept. The discomfort in my stomach and throat brought me back to reality. As I stood up, my phone chimed indicating a message. Yawning as I cover my mouth and stretching myself, slouched my shoulders looking around in the darkness. Picking up the mobile the screen told me the time, 5 AM. As I slide my finger to open the messages.
There were 5 messages from the office, Edward, Leina and 2 messages from Damien.
I quickly opened up the first one received.
Healthcare staff: preparation for the celebration to be starting from tomorrow. Everybody needs to be present to accomplish their tasks. Please go through your emails stating what is expected from you.
-‘Wow, I almost forgot that.’-
Ed: How’s you cupcake? Sleeping peacefully I guess. Will pick up tomorrow at 7 AM.
I smiled at this, he makes sure to keep me company always. Replying with a ‘yes’, I went on to look for the next message from Leina.
I paused as I was walking down the stairs and only after I reached the kitchen I read her text. (I was lazy enough to switch on the light.)
Leina: Where are you girl? Your no. is out of coverage area and so are you. Wanna see you tomorrow if not, I swear to god I will first find you and then kill you. Katie has been driving me crazy.
I laughed suddenly while opening the bottle cap with a hand and holding my cell with the other as sipped from it, reading the next message. My heart raced a little as I was curious.
Jerk: Hope to see you soon. Take good care of yourself for me.
Why don’t we grab lunch together tomorrow? I will consider it a yes then.
I almost spit the water out. Coughing hard, I put the bottle back on counter and fisting on my chest I wondered what the hell is wrong with him? He sounds like he missed me and eager to have a lunch date.
God knows what he is upto. I thought of better getting ready for the work.
The next 2 weeks were hectic. Every dept. was busy to put up their best work for the grand celebration of the company’s win and also as the event turned out to be a day for stepping up of our new CEO. Yups, you are right. Damien was to officially take his responsibilities as a CEO and there was a media invitation to cover it.
These past two weeks, we were frantically working our asses off to get everything perfectly done. There were so many times when Damien behaved weirdly like for this one instance.
I was in charge of the decoration of the celebration with the music to be fixed outside the office. I was running out of option to select a venue. I could have got any venue done but just because it involved the company’s money didn’t mean I should spend it as I like. I tried to get a best deal under my prepared budget.
The place was perfect. It was an open area with hundred of pillars in a circular line and the space in between had beautiful carved tiles. It looked like a ballet studio, but the area was huge. It was a two storey building with rooms upstairs and rooftop as well. The roof had sections which could be easily used as barbecue and catering. The center slap could be used as a table and there was a small room to its farthest left corner. The railings were French style. It was all I could have asked for. But the lady refused her earlier deal and now I was annoyed.
I rejected her offer and didn’t hide my frustration from her as I went running back to my car and slammed my car door in anger. I let out a deep breath and flicked my hair over. Suddenly my cell vibrated and without seeing at the no. I barked out, “What?”
There was a little chuckle letting me know it was our famous annoying Jr. Williams. “Congratulations, your deal is accepted. Why don’t you come out and take over those keys.”
I was in no mood of his jokes but as I was about to answer him, somebody knocked on my window making me turn to face it. There he stood, bent over my window with cellphone on his left ear as he dangled the keys in the right hands and then grabbing them in his fist, he gestured me to come out putting his phone back into his pants pocket.
My jaw dropped seeing him there. I didn’t get it, how could he have been here when I just came out of that building not 2 minutes ago. I went outside standing against my car door as he swiftly reached me. I was taken aback from the lack of distance between us as he leaned forward bending towards my neck as he inhaled deeply.
“Mulberry and camellia... It’s has become my fav. Scent now.” He whispered near my ear as I still stood rooted to my place feeling blank and some weird emotions in me.
I could feel his hands slowly sliding from my shoulders to forearm to my elbow and to my wrist as he held my palms.
He turned to face me, our faces inches apart, involuntarily making me close my eyes as my breath hitched. I could feel his breathe fanning my face as I felt my lips go dry. Moistening them, I hold my lower lip between the teeth praying him to move. I felt his thumb caressing my lip freeing it. My heart was beating wildly in my chest and I feared it was so loud that it might be heard up till few meters from where I stood. Then he whispered again in my ear, seductively. “I have placed the keys in your hand. Now go.”
I shot my eye open and saw him gulped down. I looked down in my palm there definitely was the keys. I turned to look back at him but he cupped my face. Since he didn’t plan to move, I did what I felt was the right thing. I pushed him hard and he stumbled a little before straightening his coat. Just I blinked I saw him gone.
-‘Whoa, that was fast. Thank god he is gone.’-
Steadying my breath, I sat in my car and just as I was about to rev up, I saw him sitting beside me giving me a wide grin.
That day I realized, if he continued this way, I maybe effed pretty bad. He was a bad news for me.

Today was the event to take place in our company. I selected a white black blouse and a mustard colour skirt to go with black boots. I had a mustard colour mid-length jacket to complete the look. Putting on a nude lip gloss I was ready to go.
I was missing Edward from past six days. I dunno where he has been to. He said it was urgent and only after he left I realized my life was no fun without him. I tried contacting him through call, messages and even emails but all went unanswered. I was habituated to him and guess what? I had stopped having breakfast because it was no longer fun.
Damien as always found it out and scolded me, taking me to breakfast every morning. I will say as annoying as he was. It was fun with him; he wasn’t that bad. But he was just weird at times.
I was nervous as Mr. Charles wanted to meet me before the event started. Today it was my turn to go and treat Damien for breakfast. It was the second time I was going to his condo and just as I parked my car outside his building, I felt awkward.
I made my way inside the building and to elevator. Ding! Taking deep breath, I punched in the code and headed inside slowly.
I heard noises somewhere near. I went in that direction and a door stood ajar. I pushed it to see Damien pacing the floor length as he had few suits spread around the whole room. He was nervous. Shaking my head, I moved inside as he still had his back to me, I looked at all the suits picking up a mustard coloured for him.
I smiled at it. I selected it as it stood out of all those, plus it was a match to mine and also I haven’t seen him in this colour. All others were just common.
He turned and was surprised to see me and then his eyes landed to the clothes as he smiled and nodded at me. Taking it from me his hands brushed mine as I fought to remain calm.
I made my way towards the kitchen as I made coffee and club sandwiches and sweet curd. I smiled at the thought of it. Just I was about to call him, I heard something fall in the bathroom and his hiss. I quickly ran into it and not giving a damn to his half naked body. He just stared at me and then as I grabbed his cheek and finger that had cut because of his carelessness while shaving.
“What the hell is with you, I can see a trimmer here yet you wanted to do this and how did you manage to cut your finger?” I was desperately searching for first aid in the bathroom cabinet as he tried to calm me down.
“It isn’t a big deal, it will heal soon.”
-Finally I found it.-
Gripping his hand, I cleaned his cut as he hissed in pain and closed his eyes. I was amused to see his childish behavior. I intentionally dabbed it a little harder on his cheek and chuckled as he glared at me.
-‘Look at him now, he cannot take this little pain but usually behave like hulk.’-
“You are cute.” It slipped my tongue as I shook my head and pretended to didn’t say anything.
“I should be telling that.”
I refused to look at him. As I was done with his wounds, I asked him to join me in the kitchen.
He came dressed and I forced to keep my jaw intact and not to let it drop down. He looked like a model straight from some romantic magazine cover. He stood in front of me, placing his hands into the trouser’s pocket. He passed me a boyish grin and I couldn’t hold it any longer. I could literally hear my jaw falling to the ground.
-‘Oh. My. God. He is so sexy.’-
“You can drool over me anytime. All you need is to ask.” He chuckled before sitting at the counter taking a plate.
“It is the first time you looked decent.” I cleared my throat and sat in front of him as we sat in silence.
Just as we were ready to leave, I rushed to get that sweet curd and made him have a spoonful of it. He ate it and looked at me confusingly.
“It’s kinda tradition in our culture. It is said that it is auspicious to have something sweet before starting a new venture specifically sweet curd. It holds an utmost importance. I wish you all the best for your new duties and I truly believe you would take it to new heights. Don’t be nervous, you will prove all you deserve it.”
I beamed as I put the curd back and turned to give him a quick hug. “All the best!”
He kept staring at me with different emotions as we left. He was silent through our way to the office. I kept stealing glances to see if he was still worried.
-‘I think he didn’t like it. I should have refrained myself from doing that.’-
At the Merbourn Enterprise, we silently made our way towards the CEO office. I was impatiently waiting for it to open as he spoke.
“Thank you. I was just lost in my thoughts, sorry about that.”
I turned to look at his smiling face and returned that gesture. Okay now things were good.
I was excited to meet Mr. Williams and rushed in his office. As the door opened, I saw his happy face as he stood to greet us, hugging his son and shaking his hand he turned to me and hugged me as well. I was taken aback.
“I couldn’t control myself to hug you, you remind me of a daughter I always wanted.” He looked at me with emotions in his eyes.
“By the way, I heard you met with an accident. You shouldn’t be driving from now and I will get you a driver.” I looked at him overwhelmed.
“Sir, you are exaggerating it. I appreciate your concern but I don’t want a driver.” I said and turned to my side to give Damien a disapproving look as he shrugged to me.
“Don’t blame him Tasha. He was worried and so were we. I told my wife about you and she was eager to meet you, but maybe some other time.”
“Sure sir. I would love to meet her.” I smiled brightly.
“What is it with this ‘sir’? Thought we were already with the first name basis.” Mr. Williams frowned.
“Oh sorry, s- Charles. By the way, is there something left to take care of before the event?” I looked at him expectantly.
“About that... yes! I wanted to tell you to be prepared to introduce yourself in front of the trustee board as the new CEO Assistant.”
“Oh kay... Wait-what? Are we announcing it officially? To-today?” Now that was some explosion.
“C’mmon don’t be too selfish now. Are you expecting a different event for this?” he Joked as he let out a hearty laugh.
I was embarrassed and just nodded. Now it was me who was freaking out. We started to go.
“By the way, what is with this twining? You guys already deciphered my plan it seems and decided to match your outfit.” Charles looked us up and down.
“Dad... Leave us alone. Will you?” Damien defended.
I blushed as I averted my eye elsewhere.
“Okay time for starting the event.” Charles rubbed his palms together excitedly.
When we were heading downstairs, I felt someone’s hand sneak around my waist as I saw Damien pulling me closer to him with a frown set on his handsome face. I followed his gaze to meet a pair of green coloured eyes and blonde with a perfect hour-glass figure. Dressed in a tight strappy dress that reached her mid-thigh with matching three inch heels, she seemed even taller than she already was. She had oval face with sharp nose and plump lips. She looked longingly at Damien and passed him a small smile.
-‘Dammit, she is definitely a goddess.’-
I looked at her in awe as she ignored my presence and kept looking at him. Now... I was offended. But whoever she was, Damien clearly didn’t appreciate her.
-‘ Could it be...? Rachel. Okay Missy, time to teach you some manners.’-
