Jackson's Point of View My 17th birthday was turning out to be a total bust. I had spent every minute of the day trying to locate the scent of my mate. I'd gone through every single she-wolf in the pack and had come up empty. I was now in a foul mood and just wanted to get home. 'It must have been one of the kitchen staff' Seth whined in my head. 'We need to pray to the moon goddess that it isn't Seth, My father would likely kill us, not to mention our mate.' My father had been so angry when I announced that my mate was a Gamma, I dreaded to think what would happen if I spoke up about my mate being unranked. 'Your father brings shame on the Moon Goddess', Seth declared in a hard voice. Of course he did - I knew damn well that he did! He'd been getting progressively worse over the years and the time had come for me to do something about it. I wasn't ready yet, I didn't have the support of the whole pack. If I didn't have that, it would be foolish to strike out, and my Mom would probably end up paying the price. My father underestimated me. All I was to him was 'Little Jackie'! A joke rather than the succeeding Alpha of the Platinum Moon Pack. A little boy that would never be ready to take the reigns, I could not wait to prove him wrong. My thoughts were interrupted by loud shouts from behind me. I looked around to see Jude and Asher jogging towards me. We usually walked home from school together. But I was so pissed off I hadn't stuck around to wait for them. 'Well, if it isn't Casanova himself' Asher called out. 'So tell me, who is the lucky lucky lady?' ' The word on the street is it's not Lisa or our high-maintenance sister.' Jude said, pretending to shudder at the thought. That pulled a smile out of me at least. 'So I reckon you're on for an Alpha's daugher, buddy!' He grinned and arched an eyebrow. Jude and Asher were Stacey's younger brothers. They were unidenticle twins, not just in looks but in personality too. Asher was tall and lean with dark hair and eyes. Jude was blonde, broad and made of pure muscle. As a threesome, we were really tight, but I trusted Jude with my life. He knew things about me that no one else did, like how devastated I'd been when I was told I couldn't hang out with Rose any more. He also knew that the time to overthrow my father was quickly approaching. I would make Jude my second in command the minute I took over the pack. Asher knew that this was the case and he respected my choice. He wasn't jealous of me choosing his brother over him, he always thought that Beta's worked too hard anyway. He also had no idea about Werewolf law and pack policy, nor was he particularly interested in learning it at that moment in his life. Which was fine, as long as he studied it at some point. " The word on the street is correct, it's neither Stacey or Lisa" I clarified for them. "Man, Stacey is gonna be pissed. You're still gonna date her, right? until you find your Luna?" Asher asked, looking at me seriously. "I doubt it. Not when I'll most likely meet my mate at the party tomorrow night!" 'Something bothering you Jackson?' Jude asked me through mind link, he could see from a mile off that I was not my usual self. 'We'll talk later man,' I linked back 'You up for some training later?' 'Sure, but we can't be at it for hours like we were yesterday. My Dad thinks something is up. I think he's worried we're a couple' I threw my head back and laughed out loud at such a ridiculous statement. Both Jude and I were red-blooded heterosexual males. His father had no reason to be worried. "What's so funny?" Asher asked, whipping his head backwards and forwards between us. "You know I hate it when you link and leave me out!" "Don't sulk Ash, it was just a private joke." "Whatever!" He glowered. He stomped towards the front door of the pack house whilst Jude and I continued on to the training area. When we got there, we dumped our bags on the ground and got ready to start fighting with each other. This was pretty much all we did during our extra training. We both had our different techniques. I was fast and tactical, whilst Jude was pure strength and muscle. He was a one-wolf wrecking ball and if he landed a punch he hurt you. "Before we get started, do you want to tell me what's going on with you?" I sighed "I caught the scent of my mate today in the pack house." "That's fantastic! Who did it belong to?" "That's just it, I don't have a clue. For a while, I thought it was Lisa. I even told my Dad" "What made you think it was her?" He said, his distaste clear in his voice. "I smelt it in the kitchen, she'd been in there a few minutes previous on her own. But I saw her, after I came out of my Dad's office and she smelt exactly the same as always. I've got close to every single girl in the packhouse today at school, but I've not smelt her again. I think it's one of the kitchen staff. " "Seriously? Oh man, is your Dad gonna be pissed." "Tell me about it. He was unhappy enough when I told him it was Lisa". I explained to Jude exactly what he had said. He growled and snapped his teeth at me, before shifting into his wolf, Quil, and charging right at me. I wasn't expecting the attack and was unable to get out of the way in time. I did manage to jump high enough to avoid him ripping my face off, but he managed to get his mouth around my foot and bit down on my ankle. I roared and shifted to Seth. 'All this talk about your Dad disrespecting female pack members has put me in the right mood to fight. And once I've finished kicking your ass, we'll find out who your mate is, and what exactly we do about it'
