DON'T GET TOO CLOSE.

“Wow, that’s such a lovely name.” He spoke cutely. I heard her voice calling someone, but I didn’t know who that was. From inside the mansion, hearing that voice made my heart beat so fast, I could sprint a mile in two seconds. “You want some cake?” He politely asked, and I looked at his smiling face. My heart melted at his smile. Was he having some sort of pity for me? “Don’t worry, my Mother won't bite. She is currently busy with lots of important guests at the party and wouldn’t have the time to be cautious.” He assured me as he patted my shoulder. “Wait here. Let me get you something.” I nodded. He ran to the front main building and entered the mansion. Maybe he didn’t want to use the window because of his mom. I waited for a while, and time was running out. The cold was getting to me, and my feet were getting numb from the cold. I covered my chest with my hands, wishing I had worn my black jacket before coming here. I wanted to stay at home, with my parents and grandparents, but my curiosity took the best of me, because of Garold and Stefan, so I had to sneak out, instead of finding them, I wandered around the area. I didn’t want to be in the house when people are also celebrating the New Year. I stayed for a while before I saw him coming, panting, with a little silver package and handed it over to me. He was super nice. “Sorry for the long wait.” He chuckled. I took it from him, opened it and it was a chocolate cake. It thrilled me with excitement. “Thank you, thank you so much.” I jubilated and gave him a big hug while putting the cake aside on air and then I realized I shouldn’t be doing that, so I withdrew from him. He was quite stunned. I could see it in his impression and suddenly he laughed. Why was he laughing? “I don’t mind you hugging me.” He mumbled. I smiled once more, looking at the cake and then at him. “How did you know…know…” “That was your favorite?” He said. “Yes.” With a smile still on my face, I nodded. “I…I saw you telling your Mom, you wanted chocolate cake, and she said you couldn’t afford it. So take this, to make your wish come true.” “Thanks, you are a lifesaver.” I was grateful and surprised, he could remember something like that but I have never even been here before, maybe he was referring to Claire. He must have thought I was the one he saw, because she also loves chocolate cake and surprisingly, I was putting on the same gown she wears around. “You are welcome.” He grinned. “What’s your name?” I asked, and he just raised an eyebrow at me. “My name?” He pointed at himself and I nodded. “Why do you want to know my name?” He playfully smirked. “I just…” “Let that be a secret for now.” He winked, and we both laughed at his playfulness. “Come on, aren’t you going home? You are getting goosebumps.” He noticed he was such a kind soul. “Oh, I’m just feeling a little cold,” I murmured. I didn’t want to leave him yet. He was just so handsome and nice. “Oh, then go home. We will see each other again tomorrow.” My eyes lit up with excitement. “You mean you will see me again tomorrow?” “Yes, cutie pie, of course. You will see me.” “Cutie pie.” I was confused. “It’s a nickname because you are so cute, or should I call you, baby cakes.” I blushed, and he held my arm and made a request to take me home instead. His hand was so warm as we walked together and we were almost getting to my house when I stopped him. “I will take it from here.” I mumbled, and he tightened his grip on my hand and smiled. “Good night, sweet dreams.” He said. “Make sure you dream about me.” He teased me. I laughed. I wasn’t in a hurry to know his name. I was excited for him to say those pleasant words. It was amazing. We both bade our goodbyes and left, going to our respective homes. That night I couldn’t sleep. I kept thinking and dreaming about meeting someone like him again. I couldn’t wait till tomorrow to see him again. I tossed here and there on my bed all night. His scent and his voice were beautiful, like the voice of an angel. He was like a captivating angel, and his smiles were the best. The next morning, I couldn’t wait till evening, so I tried as much as possible to relax and do my chores, so I wouldn’t end up running out of the house, and before I knew it, it was sunset. I quickly wore my dress and dashed to the same spot we met yesterday. I got there and saw him with a new guy. They laughed out loud like they were the best of friends. I stood behind them for a while and intended to turn back so I could leave them alone. I didn’t want to interrupt and be a third wheel. That was when he shouted my name. “Ramona.” He called me as I turned towards them. To my surprise, I saw Griffith with him, I never knew he was friends with him too. “Griffith.” I screamed and ran to him. He got up and hugged me as he patted my head. “Long time no see.” He chuckled. I was so happy to see him. I laughed cheerfully. “You didn’t tell me you were back from boarding school. How could you be so cruel?” I playfully hit his chest with my fist and he pretended to feel terrible. “Ouch, my chest, Ramon...Ramona wants me dead.” He feigned and held my shoulders. “Tell my parents you killed me and after I’m gone.” He winced in pretense. “Do not eat my cake.” The other boy smacked his head. “You are not serious, are you, Griffith? So if you were truly dying, the next thing you would think about is cake and not your loved ones?” We both laughed at his silliness and the three of us all sat down on the grass opposite each other. Griffith is my childhood best friend, more like an older brother who was barely six feet tall, not that muscular, he had pretty white skin, clenched jaw, pale red lips, a pointed nose, bright dark eyes, his hair, neatly combed backward, he was eight years older than me, such a gentle young dude and a powerful Alpha. “So you know him?” Griffith asked. I nodded with a smile. “Yes, we met yesterday.” I almost blushed. Come to think of it, I never heard of Stefan and Garold after that night. Griffith turned to him. “I don’t want to see you with her.” He smirked.
