[There might be a way to save those that you want to and make a place that you can rule over.]
Lying on my bed with the moonlight covering me from the window, I am now lost in thoughts, not being able to close one eye.
"I wonder what Kein is thinking about... A way that I can finally help them. Like you did, Tsuki." I think just before my eyes closed, falling into a deep sleep before the quest scheduled for tomorrow.
Like all the quests we've done until now, this was the same. Meeting the hunters, getting the details, and completely exceeding their expectations.
"I got him in the foot! He is running towards you, Akushi!" says Taiyo after hitting the giant magical beast with a poisoned arrow.
"When he gets to you, use parry on him, then throw him into the air with all your force!" shouts Kein while approaching with his katana unsheathed.
"Roger!"
There he comes!
"Parry!"
With the use of "Parry", I counter the rushing magical beast, knocking it down for a brief period. The with all my force, I grasp the beast and throw it in the air.
"Go, mister Kein!"
... And in less than a second, Kein got at the beast that I threw in the air.
"Wind step."
The unmatched control Kein had mid-air allows him to deliver tens of deadly blows to the monster in an instant.
Getting back with his feet on the ground, Kein sheats his sword looking back at the defeated beast, then he turns at the hunters that could only stare with amazement at our teamwork.
"With this are four. Is this all?"
"Yes! Please accept this for your amazing work!"
The other novice hunters came straight at me and Taiyo, bombarding us with questions and compliments.
"We wish that we will work with you again sometimes." says the hunters' leader while shaking Kein's hand.
"Our pleasure, but we might leave this zone today. Hope to see you again in the future, mister Sig."
"I see. We'll look forward to working with you again sometime!"
"Of course! We'll surely hunt together again sometime!" adds Taiyo with a bright smile on his face.
Arriving in the town, we part ways with the hunters, wishing each other farewell.
"So, how much did we win for this job?" asks Taiyo
"Ten gold coins."
"That's quite a lot," I say looking at the gold pouch Kein was holding.
"With this and what we have already, we can start travelling towards our destination."
Stopping on the road, I ask Kein about the details of our main mission,
"Isn't it about time you tell us your plan? Where will we go?"
"Let's go to the inn first. I'll tell you the details there."
--- Arriving in front of the inn, Kein enters to thank the owner and return the room key while I and Taiyo are waiting outside. But all of a sudden, everyone on the streets seems to start panicking. Most of them tried to hide and even shut themselves in their houses.
"Something is not alright..."
From afar, a flag that we knew very well started to be visible, being held by someone.
"Forty, no... fifty," says Taiyo while counting the soldiers that were approaching us in a group.
"A raid? Or are they escorting someone important? I don't see any carriage..."
Then I observe something unsettling at the one leading the group. He seemed familiar, and it became more obvious who he was as he approached.
"That symbol on his armour, his look. No doubt about it. He is the bloody general, Bastien Warren."
The highest rank among the knights of Wanborne, also called the strongest general, Bastien Warren. What would an important figure like him do in the colonies, far away from the empire?
He looked forwards and walked his way to me and Taiyo, stopping right in front of us.
"For how much time did you think you can run?" he says while staring at me.
"Did he send you to bring me back?"
"I don't know the details... I only know which my orders are."
Then the tall man unsheathes his bandaged hand, his signature in the army that everyone was well-aware of. His "chosen" power, his only weapon, "The Red Arm of Orion".
"My only orders are to kill my target... For the sake of the kingdom."
