"Welcome to Bella Terra University.
An elite school founded by the former chairman of Kreepoli Industries, Mr. David Kreepoli.
He was still a young promising leader of his company when he once said,
"Family is very important to me. And so before I lose my shine and before I lose whatever I have right now, I will have a school built for my children and grandchildren when the day comes they arrive to this world."
For the 30th anniversary of the school, the Kreepoli Industries turned Kreepoli Group of Companies, will now grant an increased number of special scholarships that will allow young brilliant minds that can't afford to get into the prestigious school just like Bella Terra to be able to study at the said institution for free."
"Mom! Did you hear that? Caleb!!! Get in here and listen to this." Elliot called his mother and best friend's attention. He was just watching a documentary about the elite of the elite schools in the country.
The 17 year old is currently watching the TV hanging by the wall while giving a bath to one of the dogs they're taking care of at the dog daycare center. A German Shepherd.
Both his parents are veterinarians turned owners of a dog sitting business and he helps around when he doesn't have class. He and Caleb have been the little assistants at Fuzzy Paws for years now since they were younger.
The business doesn't only handle sitting pets but also does grooming, housing, and even provides veterinary care for special cases.
"What is it?" Caleb asked Elliot soon as he came into the area where dogs receive their grooming and baths. Elliot pointed at the television screen. "Oh my god! Are you serious? Which means we'll have more chance to get the scholarship, right?"
Elliot nodded happily. Even the eight year old German Shepherd next to him gave an excited bark. He's a regular at the center since his humans are always traveling in and out of the country for work.
"Good boy, Logan." Elliot patted the dog then proceeded to dry his fur with a dog hair dryer. "Are you happy that we might be able to get to our dream school?"
"Arf! Arf!"
Elliot chuckled and continued drying the customer while talking to him in an adorable tone he uses only with the dogs they take care of.
Caleb on the other hand kept his focus on the documentary, eyes glued on the TV screen. "Wow...I can't believe it! It says if we get into the medical department, everything will be paid for including our lodging. I better start reviewing for the exam."
"Arf! Arf!" Logan butt in. He's now all dry and fluffy, ready to be transferred to the outdoor pen in the back of the building to play with the others.
"Thanks for the boost of confidence, Lindsey." Caleb said to Logan without looking back to him.
Logan let out a disappointed whine. "Oh come on, Caleb. Don't call him that. It's bad enough that his parents named him after a washed up teenage drama queen, you have to call him that, too?" Elliot then turned back to Logan. "Don't worry. He didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Caleb likes you."
"Arf!"
"He does."
"Arf!"
Caleb rolled his eyes and gave Logan a pet on his head. One bark only means no. "I do like you, buddy. But I like your name. Lindsey is actually pretty. Just like you. You should embrace the name."
Logan turned his cheeks away and turned towards the direction of the door leading to the back. "Hahahaha! He's sulking, Cal. You better play with him later."
Caleb raised a brow accompanied by his dimples showing as he pursed his lips. Elliot gave him a knowing look. "Aish! Why do you play favorites with him anyway? No wonder he's spoiled. He can't take a simple tease."
Violet, Elliot's mother who is standing by the counter, is shaking her head as she watched the two best friends bicker over their favorite customer. A chime was heard from the entrance and it caught the middle aged woman's attention.
"They look like a married couple arguing over their son." Alex came in and gave his wife a kiss on her cheek.
"Yup. But hey, they're planning to enter Bella Terra. Finally. Our Elliot will be able to find a rich girl to marry and look after him when we become old and unable to support him."
Alex chuckled and pinched Violet's nose. "Stop with that. Our son will be able to support himself just fine. Besides, with this little shop, we can rest assured that he won't starve as long as we keep him healthy and he can work."
"You're right. Or maybe him and Caleb can take over the shop together when they decide to come out and get married. It's been legal for years now."
Alex laughed even more then walked towards the grooming section to tell the two kids that Violet is shipping them as a couple.
"Oh gad! Mom! What the hell?!" Elliot screamed from across the room. Caleb was laughing at his best friend as he walked out to the back bringing Logan with him.
Later that afternoon, Elliot and Caleb headed to the community library to continue studying for the entrance exam at Bella Terra.
The two best friends are aiming for the medical department. Loving his job as an assistant at Fuzzy Paws, Elliot wanted to be a veterinarian at first. But then he changed it when the little girl his parents adopted when he was in middle school died of Leukemia.
Now, he wants to be a pediatric oncologist hoping that one day he can help other children who suffer from the same kind of illness.
Every day after school, and every afternoon on the weekends since the library opens on the weekends in the afternoon, the two friends would come to the said place to study. They can both study using their own computers at home but the vibe from the library helps a lot more.
"He's here!" Caleb excitedly told his friend. He incessantly tapped on Elliot's arm resting on the table. When Elliot looked up, Caleb pointed at the guy who just got inside the library's reading section.
It's Keith Khamson, Caleb's secret crush.
Elliot groaned. "For a rich kid, why does he come here to read on weekends? And his little disguise isn't hiding anything. What's he doing here anyway?"
Caleb has rainbows and hearts in his eyes. "I don't care even if he's here to meet his secret lover. As long as I can have a feast by seeing him. Ah... So handsome..."
Elliot smacked the back of Caleb's head. "How can you say handsome when his face is almost entirely closed? Look at that dust proof face mask. And his glasses. And the hat."
Caleb chuckled and dreamily sighed over his eye candy. "His mask is cute."
Elliot frowned. "Yeah. I guess, it's cute."
Caleb nudged on Elliot's side. "Hey. Do you think he'll notice me once we get accepted at Bella Terra?"
Smack!
"Study first before you daydream."
"Aye! Aye, Captain."
