Chapter 18 :: Nosy neighbours!?

in India......society thinks for you more than you would think for yourself, infact why wasting time in that......let them OR, take reign in your hand before it's too late.
recently there's this neighbour name Manjula Bajpaie......next door would often come around for a little chat,.....
evening time and everyone thought of having Matar Kachori......so, there was lots of pea for peeling.
and that lady was there to......infact, instead of giving a helping hand, she kept taking them repeatedly full palm at that.....and stuffing her mouth with them and kept on chewing them raw.
Call it an intuition of a teenager but.....if she carries on like this, they won't be able to make Matar Kachori......
at least not TONIGHT.
Everyone noticed but nobody said a word, which at one point annoyed the hell out of Insiyaa......because she was younger than all of them.

patience is a virtue........Insiyaa kept chanting in a low voice which only was audible to Ruthba and Amma,
"chup ho jao.....sun legi koi" Ruthba looked at everyone under her lashes and hissed
[ keep quiet or somebody might hear ]
"aur beta ji abhi so aap chabbis ke hogeye ho aur aap ke to ekkis hogaye hai nahi ?........aur kitni padhayi karni hai, shaad ke baare me kuch socha hai ke nahi!" Manjula Bajpaie asked pointing first at Rushda and then
[ so, girls,.....you must be 26 and you are 21, right! how much more do you want to study......don't you think It's time to think about marriage ? ]
while Rushda always wanted to get married early.......Ruthba had no tension about it, beside Amma already talked to one of her matchmaker friend, but she didn’t like the families the matchmaker showed her.....
so, no sensational news!
and instead of keeping both of at home Amma sent them to office to help Amarendra and Rahat in office work.....as much as Ruthba loved working, Rushda on the other hand had no interest.....
so, at that question when she was just about to answer Insiyaa irritatedly cut her off .......
"um...h-ha vo......
"nahi socha [ they didn’t think at all ]......i don't think they even want to, infact.....aaj kal to casual dating ka trend chal rahi hai na....! wohi follow karti hai" And shrugged
[ casual dating trend going on...na ? they are following that ]
"kya pagaloon jaisi baat kar rahi hai!" Aunty gasped looking with horrified expression at both sisters and Insiyaa and then the others
[ what kind of rubbish you are talking about ]
"pacchis ke baad koi acche ladke ni milte....mein bata deti hoon"
[ after 25 no one gets a good guy....I'm telling you ] She said trying to scare everyone there......and she might have managed that with Rushda.
where Shawkat and Baba stayed completely unbothered, occasionally shaking their heads......Rahat was simply agitated.....
not that anybody noticed.....and
NEITHER they noticed when Insiyaa changed the bowl full of peas with bowl full of chopped green chillies.......
"haan to.....abhi shaadi karke, bacche karke, phir apne hi ristedaaron ke bachho ko matar chilte chilte betaa shaadi karle.....ye wala torture hum mein se kisiko ni karna"
[ yeah, but.....after getting married this early and having kids this early..... then nagging your neighbours kids about why they are not getting married.....while they are busy peeling peas,......none of us are really interested in torturing someone like this ] She answered looking at her with amusement in her eyes
Manjula Bajpaie choked at Insiyaa's sharp witty remark or may be because of how spicy those chillies were and started coughing violently and her eyes started to water and that stinging feeling in her tongue
"here aunty ji.....have some cold water" She offered with her own saccharin sweet smile
Manjula Bajpaie only threw a glare at her but didn’t say anything.........though she left hurriedly right after that and Insiyaa had a feeling that her cough didn’t stop until very very late that night.

and she was sure, her throat will stay sore and raw at least for a day......due to that whopping cough
"Insu did you ___ Shawkat tried to asked but Insiyaa just clicked her tongue and cut him off muttering......
"next time she'll think 10 times before giving any advice" and giggled
Amma stayed quiet throughout the whole ordeal.....but she noticed everything even though she didn’t say anything,......just sighed.
for few days, she wasn’t feeling well.......perhaps age was finally catching up with her
and later that night......
"dekh lo Sahab......hum to apne bacchio ke liye ladke dhund rahe hai.....aap bhi dhundna shuru kardo, acchi khandaan mein beti biyaana bohut jaroori hain,.....uske baad agar wo padhayi karna chahe to karegi....koi harj ni, pad waqt rehte subh kaam ho jana chahiye,...abhi saab dekhne lagee hai, der karoge to ladki par aur buri najar aajayegi.....mein baas apni teen o bacchio ko apne apne ghar pe khus dekhna chahti hoon"
[ look......I'm looking for good boys and families for my grandchildren...you should start looking as well for her, if she wants to study further she'd.....no problem at that....but one should hurry at good deeds, she started catching eyes now,.....who knows when does she catches evil ones, i just want 3 of them to get settled ]
Jubayda amma said and left the huge living room....... while Amarendra Raichand was sitting on the large rocking chair,......he sighed as well
true it was......she was turning out just like her mother!
and soon, she may catches evil eyes.
