CHAPTER SEVENTEEN Sitting in the observation room, Remi couldn’t decide who she felt sorrier for, Daniel or herself. She hadn’t slept a wink the previous night and it was beginning to wear on her. While she occasionally “pulled an all-nighter,” as her students called it, when hot on the trail of some exciting research topic, she wasn’t used to all this tension and running around. Poor Daniel, on the other hand, looked wiped out. At least he hadn’t seriously injured his elbow when he crashed to the floor with that half-sane man in the interrogation room.
