" Hello, young lad." Brant gestured before Bernard, dismissing the shivering secretary with a wave, while he leaned forward gawking into the eye of the little chap, and for some moments, he could notice a familiar face on the little chap. "So tell me why did you stop me?" Pulling the little chap closer by his waist.
"Hey, Mister, can you just take me out of here, it's just too boring," Bernard whispers, rolling his eyes in the air, with a frustrated sigh. "Don't worry, you won't get into trouble, I promise." Adds some assurance to his words with his hand against his chest, which made Brant amused that he couldn't help himself but ignite some giggles to the young chap's expression, he wasn't a lover of kids but this kid seemed a lot different.
"So how about we head to my office?" He whispered in return replicating Bernard's actions with some smiles curved across his lips.
"Oh, that's great. At least It will be much better than getting stuck with a boring receptionist all day long." his face lit up with a smile
"C'mon now let's leave for my office, you talk too much." Brant cautioned holding on to one of Bernard's little hands, with the other carrying his iPad, limping joyfully alongside Brant.
And soon enough, some gossip was flying around condemning the new worker who had the guts to come along with a child on her first day at work, but Annie couldn't hear any of this because her post of employment as an administrative officer, earned her a personal office unlike the rest who believed so well that stern consequences awaits her impropriety action.
Soon enough after going through an elevator reaching the last floor, the elevator came to a halt, with the doors opening for an exit. "Gosh! I felt like I lost my breath back there." Bernard voiced out spicing the atmosphere with his little masculine but babyish tone which in turn forces out giggles from Brant while they get distanced from the elevator.
"That's how an elevator works boy, it's just like a mini transport within a building. So is this your first time entering one?" Brant asked, placing his finger on the fingerprint sensor leading to his office.
"Well, it's my fir— the door soon opened up giving way for the duo then closed up immediately they stepped foot two to three steps away from the entrance. Bernard pulled his hand off that of Brant abruptly, catching a glimpse at the large exquisite office.
" Wow! This is much greater than my mum's, mum's own is still kind of small, very small though compared to yours." squinting his face while speaking after which he found his seat directly opposite Brant, enabling him to take a view of the outside world as a result of the transparent glassy walls. "This is magnificent," voicing out as he placed his iPad on the table.
For some moments, Brant gawked at the little boy, there seemed to be a familiar ace which he couldn't just figure out. Bernard caught a glimpse of his gaze and developd some flush of red bumps on his cheeks, making him cry out In embarrassment. "So why do you stare at me Mister? I guess I look too handsome than you expected of a five-year-old, sorry four rather, we will be five by December a"
Brant's smile soon disappeared when he mentioned the word. "We!" Brant exclaimed, begging his jaw to be hung low.
"Yes, mister. You're surprised, right? Funny enough we are quintuplets, it's not just me alone." Pouting his lips.
On a normal day, Brant's arrival would have attracted a lot of fixing work schedules, but this day seemed so different. Getting to see a little child with so much intelligence is rare and at the same time, seemed more interesting to behold. "So do I get to receive a birthday gift from you by then?" Pouting his lips again resulting in Brant dragging the bridge of his nose to tease him.
"You'd get your gift by then, is that fine with you?" Receiving a quick nod from Bernard.
"Wait, you are making me a promise, I hope you don't tell me things have taken a different turn when it gets to December, if not, I together with my brothers, will make you pay extensively." Pointing a warning finger at Brant.
"As my mum will always say, it's better not to make a promise, than make one without fulfilling-
"Your mum? who's she? You speak highly of her, she must be a celebrity and a good woman. Moreover, I would love to meet her someday." Brant asked, leaning his chin on his elbow which rested against the table.
"Well, I'm not gonna tell you about her because I don't share my mummy," Bernard responded, clocking his head sideways with a smirk, and his hand against his chest, while Brant was left with no option but to stare and laugh.
"I'm not willing to date your mum, I don't even like her either because she's not my type." Bernard's tummy grumbles audibly, forcing him to hold on to it out of embarrassment. Back then he had eaten a lot of sugary stuff for kids, isn't it better that he eats what belongs to the adults, he muttered returning his gaze to Brant.
The gurgling sound from his stomach was audible enough to attract Brant. "How about I buy you a meal, then you tell me who your mom is, huh?" Brant offered with a snicker, veering on curiosity in Bernard.
"I'm wiser than this if he thinks he could buy me over with a meal." Bernard mused with an exposed grin. "Mr. That's no issue after all as long you get to buy me the meal, —
Brant returned the smile, picking up the phone and sending out orders for two packs of pizzas, which to his greatest surprise, Bernard rejected requesting a better dish. " Hey Mister, make some better orders. I've been more of a pizza lad all my life," Bernard responded, pouting his lips again which seemed to captivate Brant so well.
"At your service young master." He picked the call again, canceling the previous order for a pot roast. This time around earning a satisfactory smile from Bernard exposing his dimples which for the first time, seemed to attract Brant more to his babyish look.
Barely ten minutes more, a young-looking man with carefully trimmed short golden hair and a suit against his slim-looking figure although not looking as exquisite as that of Brant, walked in with two orders after the door gave way for his entrance.
Peeking at the whole scenario, Bernard couldn't hide his feelings, he needed answers as to why the man could come in without opening the door. Silas, the new man, carefully placed the orders on the table, unwrapping the food from each pack. Barnard extensively gawked at him, now he wasn't amazed at the content of the food packs but how the man managed to gain entrance.
Brant inclusive noticed the curiosity in his expression complimented with furrowed brows but he instead chose to remain silent waiting for his next reaction.
And just as he thought, Bernard spilled his curiosity. "Mister, how did you manage to do that, seeing that you've not got the same fingers with the first Mister here." Silas' gaze met with that of Bernard and the duo resolved to an outburst. Instigating feelings of mockery in the emotional Bernard while tears formed below his lashes.
Silas noticed this and reframed from the outburst, notifying Brant to do the same. Silas leaned forward, amplifying the means to pacify the down casted Bernard by placing a hand on the lad's hair, massaging it gently with a soft masculine tone. "Hey kid, first of all, we aren't Mister's, we are but you shouldn't address us with Misters. Why not call us by our names? Call me uncle Silas, then he— pointing his hand towards Brant.
"He's my boss, so address him as uncle Brant is that clear?"
Bernard nods his head, shooting a smile at Silas. "Well I'm Bernard, so you could address me as uncle Bernard." Bernard teased stretching out his little hand for a handshake. Silas was baffled by his level of Intelligence, receiving the little hand after which he pulled his nose.
Brant's phone chirped pulling him out of their discussion, he checked the caller ID, and after discovering it was an important one, he pulled out of the discussion taking a few strides towards the glass walls, this moment earned Silas and Bernard the opportunity for a few chats while he consumed the food before him and within the few minutes of the chats, Silas fell in love with the lad. Although there was something about the boy which he couldn't place his hand on.
"Silas, I have to be at the board room in a few minutes, the Indian investors are on their way already." Brant chipped in taking a few steps towards them.
Instantly, Bernard pulled himself out of the chair to Silas' amazement clinging to his trousers. "May I follow you to the board room, please uncle Brant,"
"No, Bernard, that room is exclusive to adults, not children like you. So you stick with Silas while I'm gone." Brant replied, pacifying Bernard who instead held on to his trousers with a firm grip, then Silas approached to pull him off. The closer Silas got, the naughty he also got with screams and yells climbing up to Brant's trousers.
"I'm an adult Silas let go of me!"
Silas successfully pulled him off Brant's trousers, placing him across his shoulders and earning a lot of screams as he took long strides towards the elevator. "I'll see you when I'm done, Bernard." Brant voiced out with a smile taking strides the opposite way where the board room was located.
Silas pacified Bernard as he helped him settle in a chair in his office, helping him download a better game aside that previously existed on his iPad, with warm milk and a small cut of the cake.
"So you keep yourself busy with this before uncle Brant gets back alright." Bernard sniffed his nose in response, wiping his watery face with the back of his palm. Silas shot him a smile, massaging his hair while he continued to attend to his duties.
Bernard pulled out of his tears keeping himself engrossed in the computer game, and soon enough a knock came on the door. "Silas, I brought the little man some cakes," Winny from the secretary department voiced out. Earlier on, she had seen Brant walk hand in hand with the little boy but couldn't tell if the boy was his or not as she wasn't aware he came together with a female colleague.
She had always devised ways to get close to Brant but all seemed impossible. Seeing a little boy with Brant with the full knowledge that children had the easiest access to the heart of an adult, she decided to try her luck by intimating the little boy by making herself known to Brant.
Without waiting for a response, she forced the door open, gaining entrance with a plate of cake cuts. "Hey Silas, I brought some cakes for the little lad," she announced further to Silas' hearing, placing the plate of cake before Bernard who seemed consumed in his game.
Everyone knew her to be a very spoiled brat, and as a result, Silas refused to respond to every single words she spoke as he patiently waited to know what she is up to this time.
She realized Silas refused her attention as she smirked mockingly, moving towards the young lad. "Hey buddy, I brought you some cake." She announced with a smile. Bernard refused her an answer being completely engrossed with his new game. His refusal made her feel uneasy, she wouldn't want Silas making a joke out of her taking it like the kid wasn't aware of her presence.
She held onto the iPad to divert the kid's attention with a smile. "I brought you some cake cuts would you love to try some?"
She asked again, hoping to meet some nice reaction from the kid, who instead frowned. "Can you let go of my iPad please," he pleaded with a frown?
