Aeris’s pov
“You came looking for me, My star?” A wider toothy grin was plastered on the animal’s mouth. “Now, it’s my turn to look for you…” His glowing eyeballs darted on me, not leaving a single trail of gazing away from my body. The predator was supposed to hunt his prey but in this scenario, the prey herself had walked up to see if he could kill or not.
The voice resembled Caspian's but my heart did not want to agree with my mind. Shoot, I should have had ran away when my intiutions told me to f*****g run. Now this enormous wolf-like animal was glaring at me and the nasty thick saliva dripping from the corners of his mouth.
“Caspian, is that you?” I dared to ask him but what stupid question was it? I was certainly out of my mind. What was I thinking? The Lycan would accept and say, ‘yes! I am Capsian, The king of trolls!’.
He growled like a titan, “RUN!!!” My sense kicked in the hindbrain and I did the most sane thing I was supposed to do earlier, run! Crawling back in the mud, I was on my knees before getting myself on my feet and ran in the opposite direction to save my ass from the gigantic animal chasing me from behind.
“s**t! s**t!” I kept cursing the entire time I tried to run better and faster. My legs were running as fast as I could because I had never ran this fast in my entire life. The twigs snapped when I pressed them with my feet and it gave the animal a sound to detect me. Damn it! My heart was burning due to the shortage of air in my lungs. I found a big tree to hide and taking shelter behind the bark, I put my hand over my mouth to make no noise to alert the Lycan.
For a while, there was no sound of breathing around me but I gasped low when I heard a twig snap. The animal was behind this tree. It was the bark of the tree acting as a barrier between us. My heart was beating loudly, I could hear my pulses. It means the animal could hear it too. I had to calm myself down and be cool to think of a solution. I kept my eyes to the side in case I caught a glimpse of him coming for me.
When I thought he might have gone in another direction, I got up and turned my heels to leave. But the moment I took a step, there was a loud growl heard from behind and the animal clawed at me. I ducked and his claw got stuck in the tree bark. I took the advantage of the situation and drew my sword to attack him. When I lifted my sword in the air and aimed for a strike, the lycan grabbed the blade with his bare hand and snatched the sword from my hand. Then, he pushed me away and freed his claw from the tree bark.
My eyes widened in fear of getting killed by this animal. I wanted to scream for help but my voice got lost and no words came out from my mouth. Even, I felt the dryness in my throat because of the air. He lifted his head to the side and ran towards me. I took a step back and missed it, losing my balance and fell on the ground. The Lycan jumped over me and slipped in the mud. When I noticed he was struggling to get on his feet, I crawled on my knees to get out from the muddy puddle and ran for my life. My legs hurt and I was exhausted from this cat and mouse duet.
I stopped to catch a breath but my stop was short because a loud scraping growl of a pissed animal echoed in the woods. Less than ten meters, he stood and hissed at me. My legs gave up and I couldn’t run the entire time. It was now a situation of do or die. If today would be my last day, I will take him to the grave with me. My breath was shaky and I was perspiring under the cold.
His gaze narrowed at me and the next moment, he ran towards me with his speed. I closed my eyes and took out my dagger which I kept hidden under my clothes. As a warrior, I always keep some small handy weapons in my outfit. My father told me that a warrior must stay alert and aware in every situation. Moreover, the royal throne has been passed down to me. There would be times when the target was on my head. People want me dead. But my husband would be one of them, I never thought until my husband was no one else but the mysterious king Capsian.
His claws were sharp and during the combant, he dug them in my thigh. The excruciating pain traveled from the wound to my brain and I screamed at the top of my lungs. It was unbearable because I felt hot blood oozing out from the wound. With the strength I had, I put the dagger in his back and kicked him on his face with my other leg. He did get pushed a little away but his strength was far more than what I had. It was the first time in my life I regretted a decision I made. The gaze he held in his eyes made me jump on my toes but this was the weakness I won't show to any enemy.
He blew hot breath over my face and grabbed me from my neck before lifting me in the air. His hold was tight and I couldn't breathe. My lungs began to burn because I cannot breathe and fill air in them. Now I did not have any weapon with me and my kicks made no sense against his thick skin.
"CASPIAN….." I tried to call him back so he could let me go.
"Please… Let me go…" My voice hoarse and words faded with each second. The darkness gulped me, almost when suddenly, he dropped me on the ground.
"Mate…"
I gasped loudly to inhale everything in the air and feel alive again. My body went numb and I could even move. Taking dirt in my mouth with oxygen, I managed to crawl to the side of a muddy puddle. My tongue itches and the dryness makes my throat hurt. It was difficult to breathe silently.
"Mate… mate… Don't hurt mate…" I heard some noise behind and saw that animal talking to himself. He had his head in his hand and was bumping it into random objects. The animal wasn't under his control but instinct. He was the predator but before he could hurt me again, I have to end him.
Remembering the training when we were taught about the whistling signs. There were certain ways to whistle and signal your teammates without uttering a single word. I put little fingers on the inside of my mouth as I whistle loudly to gain the attention of other warriors. The animal turned to look at me and said, "Aeris.,. And Caspian… We are .. mates."
The moment he finished and came to stand near me, I was ready to fight and keep him engaged while my team would arrive and neutralize him. He put his hand over my face and cupped my cheeks slightly before planting a kiss on my lips. I panted for air and when we broke the kiss, his body went limp and rolled to my side. He had returned to his human form but he lay naked on the ground. Before anyone could see him, I had to take him back. I bent to hold him but a sudden sound of a gasp alerted me and with every single passing seconds, my heart came into my mouth.
"Is that king Caspian?" A voice asked me
