My mind was still clouded after my encounter with Arabella. She had taken something from the study before I arrived, but I couldn't fathom her motive. The more I thought about it, the more unsettled I became.
Aeris entered the chamber soon after, finding me lost in thought. Her expression was sharp, a mix of concern and irritation.
"Why are you so serious?" she asked, her voice edged with tension. It was clear something was bothering her.
"I have to be serious if I’m going to protect you, Aeris," I replied, meeting her gaze. Her brows knitted together in frustration.
