Ryan was still trying to come to grips with everything, as they packed his things into Merrick’s SUV. He was glad Merrick had refrained from making any comments about the apartment, other than the fact it was smaller than he’d expected. Ryan was well aware his furniture was nothing to brag about. Most of it had come from near-new shops. Getting things from the SUV up to the third floor at Merrick’s house was a bit more of a challenge since, unlike at the apartment building, there was no elevator.
