f**k!
I was literally cursing in my head as I watched that arrogant Josiah disappear from the cafeteria.
I glared at everyone that was on my way and started strutting back to our table.
Mitch and Nanette looked at me weirdly while Mona was just staring.
“What’s with you and your future husband?” Nanette just couldn’t help her mouth from speaking.
I shot her a glare and she just shrugged. I am still mad. I am still so frustrated that I had to marry an arrogant guy instead of something decent.
And now, Mom wants me to pick up my wedding dress with him. I couldn’t even hide the disappointment and anger on my face earlier when she told me that.
“He’s handsome,” Mitch thought aloud.
The three of us looked at her with questioning expressions. She blinked at all of us.
“Come on, be real. He’s handsome. He’s probably one of the most popular guys in SNU.”
Nanette nodded.
“But, like you said, he is cocky,” Mona chimed and I smiled at her in appreciation of her act of siding with me.
Nanette and Mitch shook their heads and just continued eating.
We have been discussing about this gang invitation that we received last night from MiZa. They’re a group that we beat a year ago. Apparently, some of the members have stayed in the hospital for about a month and it’s only now that they are well enough to fight.
“Do you think they got stronger?” Nanette asked as she sipped on her orange juice.
I shrugged.
“I think so,” Mitch replied. “They won’t be sending us an invitation if they think they couldn’t handle us.”
Mona nodded. “It happens in four days. Are you ready?”
I raised my brow at her because she was looking at me when she asked that question.
She shrugged. “I’m just thinking that you don’t need bruises if you’re going to be married within the week.”
I froze at her words.
Fuck.
I am getting married next week. It was what my mother told me, that’s why she’s asking me to pick up my wedding dress later.
“That’s too abrupt, Eunice,” Nanette said. “You mean we can’t have a bachelorette party?”
I glared at her. Just when I thought she was sympathizing with me, she’s only thinking about that stupid bachelorette party.
Mitch laughed and the bell rang. “See you tonight. We need to plan,” she said before taking her things.
We all nodded and walked towards our respective classes.
~*~
I got out of the class at 3:30. The professor blurted a lot of nonsense before letting us go. I wonder why he always talks like the whole class is enjoying his lessons. We were all dozing off in his class. That happens all the time.
I walked towards the parking lot and saw an angry Josiah leaning against a black BMW. He’s glaring at me like he would want to jump at me and kill right at this instant.
“Where have you been?” he spat. His tone is already rising.
I shrugged. “I told you not to come with me, anyway,” I replied. I looked around for our car but I couldn’t see it.
“I told your driver to go home,” Josiah told me.
I narrowed my eyes at him. “Why would you do that?”
For the short period of time that I knew him, I am already aware that he doesn’t like me. He doesn’t like being around me. And the feeling is mutual.
“I want to ride my car,” Josiah said. I raised my brow. “Why are you late anyway?”
I shrugged. “The professor was busy spouting nonsense for thirty minutes,” I replied.
I saw his jaw clenching before opening the passenger door of his car. I looked at him, questioning and confused, but he shrugged it off and pretended he did not know what that look was for.
I slid myself into the shotgun and watched him walk towards the driver’s side of the car. I put on my seatbelts and looked forward.
“Do you even know where the store is?” I asked.
Josiah looked at me with a raised brow. “Do you think I’m dumb?” He asked in an insulted manner.
I shrugged. “Well, you can’t not be dumb if you have a girlfriend but you’re willing to go into this pragmatic marriage.”
If he loved that woman, we wouldn’t be trapped in this cruelty of destiny, right?
I heard him cursing under his breath as he glared at me. “If I’m dumb, then you’re stupid.”
What?
I looked at him. “You can say that,” I replied, not wanting to make this conversation any longer.
He uttered something to himself before starting the engine. I took out my phone and read some messages from our group chat.
Mitch: We need to be in the HQ at 7.
Nanette: What time will you finish with your wedding dress, Eunice?
Me: Not long. I won’t be late.
Mona: Things are about to get fun.
I smirked as I read Mona’s message. Sure, she’s quiet but when it comes to these things, she gets really excited. She’s twisted but she’s a loyal friend.
“Will that take long?” Josiah asked me.
“I don’t know,” I replied. “I hope not.”
I looked out and knew that we are already in downtown Seoul. I wonder if he really knows where we will go. Mom didn’t even tell me because she told me that the driver take will us there.
Josiah pulled over the store called United Dresses. From the outside, we can already see the mannequins displayed wearing gowns and other creations.
I unbuckled my seatbelts and looked at Josiah who’s staring at me. “What? It’s fine if you go home now.”
He pursed his lips together. “I was tasked to accompany you,” he replied.
I raised my brow. “Well, then you can go around first. I’ll just text you if I’m done.”
I don’t want him to wait for me. I bet I would want to try on different dresses first. This might probably just be an arranged marriage but I’m not going to compromise the dress that I will wear.
I could see the side of Josiah’s lips rise. “You know my number?”
“No,” I replied.
“Then, how can you text me?”
I pursed my lips in a thin line. “Fine, give me your number,” I took my phone out and handed it to him so he could type in his phone number.
He looked at me in amusement. “You sure? I have a girlfriend, Eunice,” he said in a teasing tone.
I glared at him. “Don’t flatter yourself too much, Josiah,” I dismissed him. “You’re not my type.”
He looked at me and shook his head before keying in his number. He handed me my phone. “That’s always what they say before falling in love with men, you know,” he uttered and I glared at him one last time before getting out of his black BMW. Jerk!
