Leigh The past month here inside Nightshade had not been the happiest for her. Farley had become completely obsessed with her it seemed, had started snarling at those around her, if they were male, almost as if he was all possessive of her. She’d beat him now five times and put him in the hospital once. Was currently standing in the Alpha’s office after coming back from her trip out to the last infraction marker, and back. Farley was currently on his way to that last marker himself right at this very minute, for inciting the fight that had gotten his ass put in the hospital. He was bloody lucky that it had been her and not her father that had taken to him. Though she’d heard him loose it just last week and demand something be done about the boy's sudden obsession with Leigh. Stated point blankly, “I will give you one month to pull that little s**t into line, or I’ll just kill him the next time he thinks he can touch my daughter. He rejected her, and she does not want him back.” It had been all of two weeks since that yelling match between not just her father and Alpha August, but Farley’s own father as well. Farley was out of control where she was concerned, and nothing she said or the amount of beatings he took from her seemed to stop him. He’d grated out at one point ,“You belong to me, Selena gave you to me. You will be mine.” She’d stared at that crazy sick bastard and stated, “I am not your Mate, was for all of 2 minutes, then you rejected me. I gladly accepted it. We are not Mates, stay the f**k away from me.” But not even that worked. She didn’t know what the hell was wrong with him. He’d never been like this before. Always an asshole all the time but had never actively wanted her, this was all new to her. She however, did not want a bar of him at all, regardless of what they had once been to each other, made it plainly clear to him. He was going insane, she thought. Now she was standing in Alpha August’s office unhappy about what he’d just told her, about going off to aid in the training of an allied pack and to bolster their numbers for a few weeks. She was off to the Cloudy Haven Pack, but so was Farley and that was what was making her unhappy. He couldn’t be contained here. What the hell was he going to be like without supervision at all? Her tightly ticking jaw said it all, and it was not lost on her Alpha. “I understand that Farley is out of control right this minute Leigh…I do understand what your concerns are about this situation. Believe you me, I understand and Hugo has made damned sure not only I but Farley’s family also understand how he will react.” She nodded, “His head will come off, and father will challenge anyone who dares to get in his way.” It was also something her father had yelled at their Alpha. Her father had no fear whatsoever of anyone within this pack, and she understood why even. “But, Leigh, I have to send an Alpha-blooded wolf as well, and you are fully aware that my Luna is due to give birth any day now. I can not go myself, I need to be here.” “Why does it have to be him?” she stated simply. “I’m pretty damned certain it ain’t going to end well. If he’s unsupervised, and I have to, or Jara has to defend us, we will do so with deadly force.” She saw him stare at her for a long moment and then just nod his head. “I understand. You’ll be in charge, Leigh, will be taking your own unit with you. I’ve got no one else right this minute I can send. There will also be 50 warriors going as well. You’re there to train Alpha Micheal’s warriors and get them all up to speck as quickly as possible. Farley will only be in charge of the 50 warriors, not you or your unit.” “Why?” she asked. That was a lot to send over. She had a unit of 19 warriors, so he was sending 70 over, 71 if you counted Farley himself. “To sure up the lines over there, while you train the warriors, Alpha Micheal has been getting random rogue attacks. Only now he doesn’t think it's just random, neither does the Alpha that helped him out last month.” He sighed and shook his head, “Micheal is looking to bolster his pack in an effort to deter the one trying to come in and take over.” “Farley?” she questioned. Farley knows Alpha Micheal, has been to his pack many times, gets along with the man and the pack. It’s only 300 wolves, not large enough to defend itself from a massive attack, which, from the information I have, is likely immanent. Though how far off we don’t yet know.” Her jaw was still tight but no longer ticking, she could see the logic in it, but still didn’t like it at all, “If I beat that boy senseless while there?” she questioned. “You’ll be in charge, his attitude of late.” August shook his head. “Is not leader worthy. So, you can punish him…within reason.” He added, kind of like an afterthought. “He has been warned, not just by me, you know this. But his own family is on him about his behavior, that it has to stop. Nothing he does is going to get you to leave.” “Is that what he’s trying to do?” “That is what he said.” August nodded. “It’s not what he told me.” She stated, looking right at him. “Do you want to know what he says to me.” “Go on, tell me. I doubt it will surprise me.” August nodded. “That I am his, and he will have me.” August was frowning deeply at her now. Clearly, he’d not heard that one before. She watched him think about those very words, and knew he was also thinking about Farley’s behaviour as well. It took him a good 5 minutes to speak again. “I’m not sure what is going on with him, but he stated it's just too hard to see you with others anymore.” “Bullshit! August,” she snapped, dropping the formalities, if she was going to swear at the man and get punished for it, she might as well go the whole hog. “He’s the one who goes out of his way to f**k she-wolves in front of me.” “I’m aware of what he does.” “So, when the hell are you going to do something about it then?” she nearly snarled at him and saw that deep frown again, “Watch your tone Leigh, I’m still the Alpha.” “Well, Alpha, at the rate he’s escalating and with you doing nothing about it, just letting him go about doing as he so pleases, I or my dad, Hugo, is likely to kill him at some point.” She laid it all out on the line. August sighed heavily and nodded, “Your father told him as much, before putting him in the hospital last week.” “Then what are you going to do about it? Because dad’s put a timeline on it, he, from my understanding, intends to keep it as well.” She told him and knew her father would actively hunt and kill Farley if he didn’t give up his obsession. “I’ve warned him that any more infractions, and he’ll be put in the cells for a full year. That when he gets out, if he attempts again to come at you, that I am shipping him off to the kingdom, and he won’t be coming back. His own father put in a stipulation that Farley would be nothing more than a grunt of a warrior while there. Would be declined any attempts to rank up, will be a soldier for the rest of his life in service to the king himself.” “You think those threats are going to set him straight?” she didn’t think so. Even now, after both she and her father had put him in the hospital, he’d still come after her. “He was quiet as he sat here in this office. We only informed him today, before he went out to that marker, and he’s going to the fourth one. It wasn’t just myself, but his own father laying out rules this time, how it would be in the kingdom… Janus also told him that he’s washed his hands of him as of today. He is completely out of control and is not worthy of his own bloodline.” “De-rank him.” she stated. If his own father washed his hands of the boy, he could be de-ranked down to simple warrior status or worse, omega. “Alright Leigh, one more infraction and I’ll de-rank him. But not until after you all come back from allied assistance, I need an Alpha blood to go.” She stood there staring at him, and he sighed and shook his head, knew what she was thinking even, though didn’t voice it. “What about Janus then?” “Not fight capable anymore, you know this. He is lame on his back leg in shifted form. You yourself know he hobbles in cold weather or, when it rains, plays havoc on his bones.” “He doesn’t have to fight, I can do that, he just has to be there.” “And if war comes while you’re there, Leigh?” he questioned right back. “I’ll be in charge and order him to stay behind.” “Make him feel useless, you mean. Don’t punish the man because his son is an asshole, Leigh.” “It’s not punishing him.” she frowned. “It would be, he’s a War General and good at what he does, just not fight capable, would feel useless in an allied assistance battle. Here is different. He has a different job to do when there is a battle on. Runs it all, keeps track of everyone and tells them where to go, protects those here in the packhouse.” She did know all that, only had to fight if the worst happened. Janus was still strong but not for the front lines, not in a battle unless it was needed. She stood and stared at August. “I don’t like it, just so you know.” “It’s only a few weeks…a month, maybe.” She was frowning now he’d stated a few weeks earlier. Now it was a month. “What exactly is expected of me and my unit?” she finally asked. She was not going to win this battle about Farley not going with her. August’s younger sister had mated out of the pack two years ago, and he had no other brothers, just Janus. Most of the Alpha’s family were she-wolves and had left the pack to go and be with their mates. He did have two other male cousins, though one was at Alpha college right this minute. This did not constitute a reason to pull him from that. The other had actively moved to his Mate’s pack years ago. His Mate had actually been the Beta of her pack and she wasn’t giving up her title. So, he’d gone there. She technically out ranked him even though he had Alpha blood, because she was part of an Alpha Unit, and he was not in line for the seat of Alpha. Not that he cared at all about that, he’d just wanted his Mate and was willing to go to her pack to be with her. A good wolf he was. Why couldn’t they all be like that? she wondered absently.
