Braxton
He arrived back at the Cloudy Haven Pack, after he’d received a call from Alpha Micheal about things escalating, he told him he had 70 warriors and Elite warrior trainers here from another pack, to help with border patrol and the training of his wolves, but even that had not deterred or stopped whoever it was.
Someone had breached his border, sedated a patrolling wolf and not with silver or wolfsbane but, aesthetic, and snuck into the pack, fully scent-masked and undetected, had, from what he could tell, set a fire that burned two of his buildings down.
Brax had offered to come back and help before he’d left that first time, and now with his own pack fully secured and under the Kings' protection, he had no issues with leaving it. He’d left his mother in charge. To his surprise, Rhyse had offered to help out, apparently was a really good fighter, and would stand there next to the Luna to defend her.
He’d accepted her help, she was not the type to hide away, whatever her life had been, she had either gotten over it, or just had accepted it at some point. But she’d attended training two days after arriving and more than held her own, fought like a demon. She was going to rank up quickly.
All he’d heard was that during her escape from that pack, she’d taken on and beaten a Gamma-ranked wolf. Other than that, he still had only bare information on the girl. She was tough, that was for certain. He’d seen the scars on her body now as well. Had many of them all over her, she’d not stated who her Mate had been, but he’d read who it was, the Bloodless Moon’s Beta had been the one to own her.
It was not written any other way in that letter. Belonged and owned by the Beta of the Bloodless Moon were the words in the documentation about her. It was not a nice way to put things. He didn’t ask questions, just let it go. Likely wasn’t a nice thing for her to recall, and he didn’t want her to have too either.
His eyes moved to the burned-out buildings as they drove into the pack. It was only a three-hour drive up into Oregon from his pack in California, he even knew what buildings they were and sighed. Had likely been targeted by whoever was doing all of this. Was the pack's small hospital, only a 12 bed ward was all it was, looked just like a regular house even not like the hospitals in other packs.
So, the question then became how did they know it was the hospital? His eyes fell on the small building next to it, and he was not at all happy about what he was seeing. Whoever it was had known exactly where things were inside this pack. Could well be an ally to this pack, he now realized. That other building was a storeroom, holding training weapons mostly, from his recollection, along with scent-masking sprays and tranquilizer guns and darts. That was it, something was very off here.
His eyes moved to the small training ground and the group of warriors all dressed in white down there, instructing women and omega’s, he realized. Probably a wise decision, they might need all able bodies when war came, and it was looking to him that it was coming.
He pulled his car up out front of the packhouse, his two coaches behind him. He’d brought a hundred warriors with him, even though Micheal had told him there were already 70 more here in the pack. Braxton was out to not just deter whoever it was but get rid of them thinking it was a good idea.
The pack would go from 300 to nearly 500 strong. That was always a good deterrent. It would also show that Micheal had good allies to rely on and could come in mass numbers. Which was also something you wanted to show to anyone attacking or trying to take over one's pack.
He got out and shook the man's hand “Mike.”
“Brax, thanks for coming back.”
“No problem, about what happened? Have you found anything out yet?”
“No, the hospital and armory are completely destroyed, nothing survived the blaze.” Micheal sighed.
“Targeted and used an accelerant I’d say, from what I saw coming in.” Brax nodded.
“Yes, we believe so as well. Happened in the middle of the night, as I said. By the time it was scented out, and we all got there, we could only contain it.” He signed once more.
“Any injured?” Brax asked now.
“No, it was actually empty, we only use it when it’s needed. It generally sits empty most of the time. Gets cleaned daily, and the stock is checked, but that’s about it.”
“A bonus, you could say.”
“Yes, indeed.”
He looked about the pack, wasn’t ready to discuss his thoughts on it being someone Micheal knew, would wait a few days and see just what was going on around here. He’d seen many attempts at sabotage during the wars in the kingdom. Nothing could or should be overlooked, not even in the attending packs that were here to help.
His men started filing off his coaches and stretching out. Each bus housed 56 warriors, “I came prepared.” He nodded to his men. 114 plus him and his unit. Likely were going to need it.
“I see that. I can only put 110 of them up in the bunk house. Alpha August of Nightshade sent 20 Elite and 50 Warriors, though…the rest of yours could fit into the available 5 rooms I have here in the packhouse. You’ll all have to bunk in together though. Hope that’s okay?”
“It’s fine.” And it was. That was how he and his unit had lived during their time in the kingdom at war anyway. In with the warriors in large, tented encampments, groups of 20 to 40 per tent.
“I presume August’s men are bunking down the same?”
“Yes, but I have them separated, Elite from warrior.”
“Why?” he frowned, turning his eyes right to the man, that was a very odd thing to do.”
“There are some issues between the head Elite Warrior and her Alpha, though he too is in the packhouse, at the other end of the building, closer to his men. She, however, is bunked in with four of her own, stated she didn’t want a room to herself, didn’t need it, is better and safer for all to bunk down in groups, not an issue for her and her unit, it seems…though she’s a little odd to say the least. And she and hers don’t mingle with the others or the Alpha.”
Brax turned and looked at the Elite training over there. That was not something that would be considered normal for any pack, something else was going on. Some sort of animosity between the Alpha and Elite warrior, though that could be anything at all. “She over there?” he asked, hoping to get a look at her.
“No, out hunting the one that set the fire, she left the pack to track and retrieve what she could.”
“What’s odd about her?” he asked, returning his attention to Micheal.
“Just is.” He shrugged, “you’ll likely pick it up yourself. Is…odd.” He shook his head, smiled a little.
“Alright, where do you want my warriors?”
“Top floor of the bunkhouse and the last couple of rooms on the ground floor. That will house 110 of them. The rest you’ll have to bring to the packhouse.”
“Lockey go sort that out.” He sent his Beta off.
He and the rest of his unit grabbed their gear. “Which room, Mike?”
“Same as before, if you don’t mind. That will put you between the Elite and her Alpha, in case something happens. You and yours can step in.”
He knew none of his men would complain, his pack got on pretty well, they had good lives and were pretty close, not much infighting went on, just the usual teenage angst and girlfriend, boyfriend arguments or one caught cheating on the other. It all stopped once they found their mates.
He was once again looking at Micheal. Might have to step in between them, now that got his undivided attention, that was only ever needed if there had been a relationship between the Alpha and the she-wolf, and it had ended badly. “Alpha August Mated?”
“Yes.” Micheal nodded, “just had a little girl, pretty as a picture called her July.”
“Why is he here if he’s just had a baby?”
“Oh, my apologies, it’s not Alpha August that is here, he’s home with his Mate and newborn, he sent his cousin Alpha Farley.”
“Is he mated? And I’d like to meet him.” He stated.
“No, and I’ll arrange that for dinner, we’ll all sit down and get to know each other. “Farley is only 26, and can be…not so disciplined at times, where his Elite Warrior is concerned.”
“Send him home, if he’s useless or causing trouble, you’ve got enough to worry about.”
“He’s only young Brax, and was not inline, not due to be an heir at all. Is picking up slack for his cousin. I actually know the boy he comes here all the time, is nice for the most part, normally very well-mannered and behaved…I guess something was between them, not so much anymore.”
“Who instigates the trouble?” he asked, needing to know if he was dealing with a jealous she-wolf that was highly trained or a jealous and ticked of Alpha Wolf. If he was going to have to get in between them, he needed to know who to watch out for the most.
“Farley, I’m a little disappointed by that, as an Alpha myself, but I guess the man likes the girl a lot, and she doesn’t like him at all.”
“Bad break-up I’d hazard a guess.”
“It could be.” Micheal nodded, “I didn’t ask.”
“Might want to, in case it turns out into a full-on fight between them.”
“It won’t. August has restrictions on Farley, and he’s not in charge of her or her Elite.”
“She got a name?” he asked. Micheal had yet to state it.
“Leigh, its odd, you know…she has more rights than Farley does. Can and is allowed to punish him to a certain extent.”
He stopped walking now, an Elite had the right to punish an Alpha-blooded wolf, turned and looked at the man as he held the door open for his unit to pass into the room, they’d be staying in. “Likely she’s harassed by Farley in her home pack then.” He sighed “That is going to be trouble. How long have they been here? And what trouble so far?”
“Just three weeks, no physical trouble, just words that are snarky, and I did see Farley take one of the she-wolves he sees when here off in a hurry, to the woods a few times, like…” he sighed.
“I get it, wanted to f**k her in front of Leigh.” He shook his head, sounded like a right dipshit. “We'll unpack and come down to the dining room shortly.”
He stepped into his room and found Miles and Rohan staring at him. “That is not a good thing.”
“No, it is not. The question is why? And for how long it’s been going on?”
