CHAPTER SIXTEEN -- Sacrifices

2386 Words
Raven Lynn Stone The whole Hunter Organization left to give us time to bond and talk, Cass and Carson are now talking with my mom and dad in the dining area. Like the story they have told me, that’s what they told mom and dad. To my surprise, mom and dad didn’t question them any further, they keep on repeating the word “Thank you” “How can we repay you?” It’s like everything is okay and solved, now that I’m here with them. “You don’t have to give us anything Mr. and Mrs. Stone, we’re just glad that we finally took her home safe,” Cass said in her weird country voice while clinging her arms to Carson. “Are you sure? You took care of our daughter for three weeks so it’s okay to ask for something, we owe you her life,” I shook my head with my mom’s statement. It’s Zionel you owe my life to, I wanted to say but I remained silent to avoid making things worst. This time Carson shook his head, “It’s okay madame, just promise us that when the situation gets worse again, trust your daughter’s decisions,” what Carson said made me look at him. What does he mean about that? Does he know something will happen soon? “What do you mean about the situation will get worse again?” my dad asked worriedly while handing us a refresher. “No sir, what I mean was she managed to escape the danger that she has encountered that night, so I’m saying that she can handle herself well, I’m just telling you that so you can trust every decision she might make or choose when the time is right,” Carson explained, this time he finally looked at me and smiled. My mom, dad, and I are confused but they didn’t say anything instead, they respected Carson and listened to him. Carson grunted when Cass secretly nudged his sides. “What my husband really meant to say was, I know that you’re worried about her but don’t lock her up here just because of what happened, you might suffocate her,” Cass said like they knew what was my mom and dad’s plans were after they leave. I see they’re concerned that I might not be able to go out anymore. I need to thank them for that. My dad sighed like he understands what these two finally meant, “It cannot be avoided, we lost her for three weeks, we almost lose hope thinking that she was eaten or what, and thank the gods she wasn’t so I might be strict to her now,” I bit my lips to what my dad has said, he must’ve been really worried sick and I feel awful about it. Because I enjoyed the days of my recovery because of these guys and… Zionel. I have to admit that, I really enjoyed my stay over there. I’m actually missing it already. “We understand,” Carson said while nodding. “But we’ll promise to follow your advice, thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Hughes,” my mom said while shaking their hands. My mom and dad escorted them until they get into their car, Carson and Cass glance at me while smiling. I went towards them to give them a big warm hug before they go. “Thank you guys, thank you,” I whispered to them. “Don’t thank us, but him instead. I was really surprised that he let you go. I guess that’s what love does to you huh? You must sacrifice your own wants and needs to make someone happy,” Carson mumbled, even though he wasn’t mentioning any names, there’s one person that came right into my mind. Love? Does Zionel… No... no that can’t be right, we’re still starting and taking it slow. It’s still a bit early for me to think that he already felt that way towards me. Carson and Cass left and I was now sitting with my mom and dad on our couch in the living room. They asked me what really happened that night, so I told them everything except for the part that someone saved me. I just told them that a wolf attacked me when they were gone that night, I tried to defend myself and ran away from it really fast and stumbled on some tree and lost my consciousness. I also told them that I had suffered from a mild sprain, so it took weeks before I could even recover and walk. I felt bad for lying to them, but to keep their identity hidden, it’s a must that I should lie but my stories we’re not all exactly a lie, they’re partially the truth but were only coated with few white lies. “I’m just so glad you’re okay sweetheart, I was so worried about you... I thought we lost you,” my dad added, so I just hugged them both. “I’m sorry that I made you worry but don’t worry, I’m strong enough to fight to escape that wolf and I’m pretty sure I can handle myself pretty well if I continued my training from the Hunter Organization,” I said trying to hint them that I immediately want to continue my school and training, my mom and dad just sighed. “I also want to go to school tomorrow, I have so many things to catch up, I’m probably excused right?” I asked, so they just sighed even more. “Darling are you sure that you want to go to school tomorrow? You can rest for the whole week if you want,” my mom said while combing my hair. “Mom, dad I’m fine. I already rested for the whole three weeks, my legs aren’t hurting too anymore so I’m better than okay,” I reassured them, so they just smiled and shook their heads like they have no other choice but to accept my request. “Okay fine, I’m allowing you to go to school but you’ll only train next week again just to make sure your sprain is fully healed and you’ll be escorted every time you go to school and even when you’re going home,” dad said while texting someone on his old-looking phone. I shook my head, “What? I’m not a kid anymore dad! You can’t just hire somebody just to be my chauffeur or bodyguard!” “I won’t be hiring anyone sweetheart it’s just a request, in fact, I think he’s willing to be your bodyguard,” my dad explained while smirking. “What?! Why? Who is that? Tell me!” I asked, slightly irritated. I don’t want someone to follow me around geez! “I don’t know why but tomorrow you’ll see him for now, eat and rest okay?” I just sighed when they both hugged me. They escorted me to my room, and I was astounded to see that everything that was been destroyed by that werewolf was already repaired. My room was now tidy, my two-way door is also fixed. I immediately found my phone on the bedside table and checked if he has messages for me. I was disappointed to see no new messages over there, I sighed and laid down on my comfy bed. What is he doing now? Is he busy? My mind instantly remembered those hot sweet kisses that we shared, I immediately blushed with the thought, he’s the only person who can make me feel and do those things. I snuggled with my pillows and closed my eyes. Will I see him tomorrow? I hope I can see him tomorrow, I don’t know why but I really want to see him again. *** It’s Monday morning and I’m done doing my morning rituals and was finally dressed. I chose to wear a casual long sleeves dress and flats today because I’m too lazy to wear jeans. I’m on my way downstairs to eat breakfast with my mom and dad when I saw a familiar built that is sitting with them on the dining table. My mom smiled upon seeing me. “Good morning,” I said while fixing my bag. “Good morning darling, we’re waiting for you, come here and join us!” my mom cheerfully said, so my dad and that familiar built faced me. “J-Jason? What are you doing here? It’s still very early,” I asked, I was so shocked seeing him here, it’s still very early. He stared at me for a moment like he has seen a miracle and smiled, he carefully stands up to walk towards me and patted my head, why does he always pat my head? “Good morning to you Rave, you look beautiful and well I guess I’m your bodyguard now,” he chuckled when I raised my eyebrows and escorted me to my chair. “Oh, thank you, so the man that my dad was talking about yesterday was you?” I asked and he just nodded, he looks so awfully cheerful today... I wonder why? “Oh darling, Jason was already here before your dad even woken up, he’s a very responsible man,” my mom said while placing our hot coffee and chocolate drinks. “Really? I see...” I reluctantly said and started to fill in my plates with rice, bacon, sausages, and eggs. I wonder if Zionel would do that also someday, I smiled with the thought is he eating now? “Woah? You eat like that a lot?” Jason asked catching my attention, I glance at him and saw that he’s already filling in his plate too. I nodded at him, “Yeah, why is there a problem with that?” I asked, curious that why does he look surprised. “Nothing... I just thought you’re the type of girl who doesn’t eat that much,” Jason said while eating. I smirked because of his remark, “There’s a lot of things that you don’t know about me Jason,” I replied, so he chuckled. “I have time to get to know you better, now that I’m going to school and going home with you,” he said while looking at my eyes intently. Weird... “Aw hon look at them! They look so good together!” My mom giggled, which made me almost choke on my food, Jason was already there patting my back as he offered me a glass of water. “Are you okay?” he worriedly asked, so I just nodded. “Y-yeah thanks, I’m fine.. mom what the hell are you talking about?!” I glared at my mom who just shrugged and laughed. Geez, she’s crazy. After we finished our breakfast, my mom and dad bid their goodbyes to us. Jason went to open the passenger seat door so I thanked him, I watched him enter the driver’s seat and stare at me. “Is there any problem?” I asked and he just smiled showing his cute dimples again. “I’m just glad that you’re okay and safe. I was also worried about you, you know? Your mom and dad told me everything that has happened earlier,” he said, so I just smiled. He’s such a nice friend. “Thank you, Jay, thanks for not leaving my family’s side when I was gone,” I told him, but he just blushed. What the hell? Why is he blushing? It’s not even hot here. “Y-You’re welcome... Jay? That’s a nice nickname,” he said while starting the engine of the car and I just nodded. “Yep, it’s okay if I call you Jay right? We’re already friends after all,” after I said those words, he only half-smiled and drove towards the University. After parking my mom’s car, I was about to open my door when he’s already there again to open it for me. He’s acting really weird today and I want to tell him that I can open the door by myself but I just remained silent. “T-Thanks,” I smiled and he locked the door, he glances at the main entrance before glancing at me again. I was shocked when he hugged me. “J-Jay?” I asked, why did he suddenly hug me? “Sorry about this, it’s just that I’m so happy that you’re here and safe,” he said, so I just shook my head and gently pushed him away. “I see… but you don’t have to hug me silly,” I almost complained, but he just smiled. “Let’s eat lunch together, is that okay?” he asked before handing me my bag. “U-Uh? Okay sure,” I said and with that, he smiled as we both walk towards the main entrance of the school. Is it just me or he’s really acting weird now? I shrugged. On our way there, I almost stopped when I saw Zionel on the side entrance of the University with the rest of the gang that is glaring at Jason.   To be continued…
