Episode 5

It was about eight years ago. The place was one of the lands on the earth whose name was never important to remember, yet it was the busiest area in that region. "Hey!!! You thief, stop there. Stop right there." A man kept screaming with all his might, in the middle of one afternoon, under the broad daylight, when the market was fully crowded with various kinds of people all around the place. Under the crazy noise of the street market, the man's loud voice was proving to be all futile, as no one cared to listen to him at all. People were gathered up here and there in groups to buy something or to make some deals with one another or for their own jobs, barely leaving enough space on the street for anyone to pass through easily, if someone wanted to. But even the most crowded street of the region was not enough to stop the two desperate legs that were running as fast as ever in order to get far away from this place after stealing the food only for the sake of survival. The young boy who was about fifteen years old, kept shoving people aside in order to make some way for himself, so that he does not have to get caught up in the hands of the shopkeeper who might beat him to death if by any chance the man could ever get a hand on the boy. So, the boy at such a young age knew very well that he must stop at any cost, neither he could afford to turn around to see how far he came, except for keeping his eyes straight on the only way ahead that might take him away from his brutal fate. With the last bit of his energy, he jumped over the sacks that were kept blocking the way but he made sure not to drop the bread that he stole earlier from the bakery shop. The boy did not even have time to let go of the breath which he kept holding from the very beginning and went on running through the crowded streets, while sometimes he even preferred to climb on the top of the houses for making his way out in order to avoid the crowd but at the end, he needed to come down cause the road was the only way which would allow him to get away from this whole market area. It was such a hot and humid afternoon and the bright sunlight was really making it absolutely difficult for the boy to keep running and also when he had not eaten for how many days no one knew. But still, he just could not afford to slow down and let himself get caught that easily after all whatever he had to go through just to make his tiny stomach full. Unfortunately, the unbearable cursing of the shop keeper was still there, declaring the fact that the man did not at all stop coming behind the boy. Unable to run any longer, the boy tried to look for someplace to hide ever so desperately and went in a building quietly and carefully making sure that no one notices of his moves, without realising what kind of place was that. The crazy noises of people chatting with each other, fighting for some trivial matters, cursing without any reason and the other loud noises of the vendors, the buyers along with the neighing of the horses of the merchants, from the crowded and the busiest street, slowly started to fade away as the boy kept going further in the building, attempting to keep himself alive only. The building was a bit darker from inside and was less hot from how was the climate outside. In fact, it was quite pleasant to stay inside such a building, at least that was what the little boy thought for the time being, while he was absolutely unaware of what else he was about to face in any time soon. But for now, the boy kept sneaking inside where he noticed that the walls around him were all painted in red and the flames were flickering dimly in the gloom, which was barely showing whatever was ahead on the corridor. The corridor was long and doors were on the both of its sides. The little boy was indeed moved, seeing such a grand place in the middle of such a shabby market area as he had never guessed, neither had he ever seen a building like this one where it was indeed surprising enough for the boy to see so many doors altogether inside just one single building. He kept going ahead with his careful steps and passed a few doors only to stop in front of a particular one, from where he could clearly hear some weird noises and the voices of people talking about something useless. Somehow, one of the voice felt very familiar to him. Being all curious about what was going on inside, the little boy bent down to put his eye on the keyhole only to have a quick glance through the small hollow, making sure that no one gets any kind of hint about his presence. But he might have never expected to see whatever sight he just witnessed right at this moment, which was indeed terrifying enough for someone who was only fifteen and naive enough to understand the other face of brutality. Yes, the place was nothing but the well-known brothel of the region where women were used only to fulfil the needs of men while some of them were even tortured to satisfy their master's cravings. Even though the building was nice and less warm than the outside world, this place was the most brutal, from where everyone wants to go out no matter how harsh the outer world was. Cause here, unlike other places in this market area, the souls of innocents got traded without any mercy. But being unfamiliar with this side of reality, the little boy saw his own mother with few other women and an ugly man in some awful state, which he had expected to see the least. The boy knew that his mother works hard to buy food for him as he often saw his mother coming home injured only for some time to feed him, while she always made sure to return to somewhere else, leaving her only child behind, and as far away as possible from her. Even though he always demanded to take him along with her, she never did. And it was not that his mother used to visit him every day. Sometimes she used to come and only then the boy could eat whatever she used to bring for him, otherwise, he had to sleep empty stomach for nights. But little did he know that their situation will turn him into a thief someday and that too only to find some food, so that he does not have to wander with hunger, neither he knew that one day he would have to watch his mother in such a way. The little boy did not know what to do, how to react, as the tears from his eyes did not cease to flow down making his dusty cheeks wet. The earth trembled under his feet and in no time he fell down on the floor. The piece of bread that he was holding tightly till now, fell on the dusty floor as well, as the boy did not have the appetite anymore. It seemed that the whole was trembling for him for the time being. At least, that was what the boy thought. But the increasing noise of the chaos from outside and even from inside made him totally aware of the fact that it was not just his mind but something bad was actually happening right at this moment. The whole building was shaking tremendously in real while the dust, the bricks were already started to break loose from the walls and the ceiling only to fall on the floor without any mercy. Even though the building was the biggest around the whole area, something indeed was ruining it without any effort. Soon, it seemed that the ceiling of the whole building was going to fall on every one of them any time soon, if they could not get out of there in time. Seeing such a disaster had already started to act on its course, the body got up quickly at tried to break the door with the last bit of his strength, only to save his mother who was still inside. He knew that she was the only one he got in the whole world, and he needed to save his mother from this m******e or even from this place right now, no matter how. But it was hard enough for him to break through the door with such little strength while the doo was already stuck by the chunks of broken pieces of the ceiling, already. Even though he could clearly see that the whole place was going to collapse any time soon, he did not stop trying even for a second. It was not just the only door that was stuck. Cause people from inside kept banging hard, attempting to get out in order to save their own lives. Among them, few were able to open their doors to get out after some effort while few could not. People from the brothel had already started to run out to save their lives as soon as possible. "If you do not want to get smashed under the roof, then run, boy." One of the women said out loud on her way out, but the boy did not care to listen to her at all as he kept trying to get her mother out of the room anyhow. In no time, a big chunk of the ceiling fell in some distance where the boy was, smashing one or two underneath, ever so cruelly. The scream was all the boy could hear at this moment when he was no less than extremely terrified seeing people die before his eyes in a matter of seconds. It was sure enough that he was going to meet the same destiny if not one of the women dragged him out of the building without letting him get free, just before the whole building collapsed right before everyone's eyes. The condition of the market was no different. The shops, small buildings and every other thing were already ruined while people were running here and there, being absolutely clueless where to hide from the danger that was now dangling on every one of their fate. Cause, in the next moment, an enormous vicious creature, whom no one has seen ever before, came down to stand on the piles of ruins of the building. It was nothing but a huge mountain-like black dragon indeed, about whom everyone heard stories and which always existed only in the myths for the people till now. But not anymore. Cause now the most lethal beast from the mythical stories was standing right in front everyone's eyes, when no one expected to see such kind of creature in reality. Eyes were burning red, while it was breathing fire, turning the whole place into an enormous blaze within just a little time. Witnessing such grave destruction, no one dared to stand still, except for the one, who had just lost everything in his life before his eyes. Yes, the little boy moved no more, as if nothing could make him scared ever again. He just kept standing right before the mountainous horrifying dragon, keeping his eyes fixed on him, even though the entire place was in absolute havoc due to the arrival of the dragon. "If you are ready to die then die being useful to someone at least." Another deep and frightening voice fell on his ears, which made him turn away his gaze from the beast at last but only to find another guy, merely two or three years older than him, was standing beside him, bothering least about the mess that the huge dragon was making right at this moment. Seeing the boy absolutely stupefied, the guy asked once again, "What is your name?" "Logan." That was what the boy could say for the time being. "Well, then Logan, come with me. I will give you plenty of opportunities to die, but until death comes to you, you need to follow me and have to do whatever I ask you to do." The guy said, with a smirk on his face. Logan had never seen such a savage guy before, but whatever he just said gave Logan another chance to leave and that too with some meaning of life. The guy before him was indeed offering him the shelter that he always lacked. And now, when he had nothing to lose anymore, Logan saw nothing wrong with accepting the offer the guy was making to him. "But who are you?" Logan enquired first, before saying anything. "I am Draco. And that thing, is Egan...my dragon." Whatever Draco said, made Logan absolutely stunned. So, putting on a smirk on his face Draco said once again, "Are you coming?" "Yes" said the fifteen years old Logan.
