1.Noah
"Noah, Noah." my roommate Jack Daniels slurred. Stumbling over to me and flopping down, leaning into me. He slung an arm around my shoulders. The heavy thick scent of alcohol wafted off his breath, I recoiled back slightly.
"Having fun Bro?" he asked. I just gave him a flat look.
"Sure," I said blandly.
"Good." he slurred, "told you ya would," he said. Clearly my sarcasm was muted by him. "Look. I and Lana are going to be leaving now."
I sighed, "You don't mind making yourself scarce for the night, do you?"
It wasn't a question and I definitely didn't want to spend the night pretending not to hear them having s*x.
"You are great Bro, you know that." He slurred before staggering away, grabbing a wobbily leggy blond and the two of them lurched giggling out of the bar.
I reached back for my pint. Great! A night forced to stay anywhere but my room. I guess another night in the common room, if it was open that is. Very relaxing.
I sighed looking around the bar, I hadn't wanted to come out in the first place. Who did? Although I have to admit it was better this way, I didn't have to pretend to be asleep while they engaged in some very noisy humping.
I took another sip of my drink as I glanced around the room and promptly found myself choking on my larger. Four guys had just strode in the kind of guys that expelled a feeling of power . I was sure each of them could have broken my arm with one finger, not that they would have bothered of course.
I could instantly see I would be one of those people that was simply beneath their notice, but that wasn't what had made me choke, no there was a girl stood in the middle of them.
She was...Holy f**k she was beautiful, petite yet curvy long dark hair falling halfway down her back and she was smiling at one of the guys not in a flirty girly kind of way, it was a true honest 10,000 watt smile.
I desperately tried to stop choking as I found my eyes had a mind of their own and didn't want to stop watching her, she was honestly so beautiful the air seemed to have disappeared from the bar.
I was however well aware that my glance was heading towards staring territory. She suddenly stopped mid-laugh and a crinkle frowned her forehead as her eyes lifted up and quickly scanned the bar.
Suddenly her eyes locked with mine. Her eyes were bright gold. She looked a little frightened. I dont know why, I mean I may have been staring a bit but I hadn't moved. This Angel was however now far too aware of me. She looked like the bar could have caught fire around her and she honestly wouldn't have noticed.
I felt my cheeks burning and looked down at the bar as if I found the wood captivating, but as I slowly lifted my eyes I found she was still looking at me intently. One of the guys was talking to her but she was clearly completely oblivious.
" Cass" he said Loudly, "Cass ... CASEY."
"What?" she said suddenly looking back to him. I smiled and went back to my pint.
"Well that was weird." I muttered to nobody. I pushed to my feet but then realising I had nowhere to go I sat back down and just ordered another pint.
I tried to ignore the girl but found my eyes drawn to her as if magnetically and to be honest I could understand why I mean she was easily the prettiest thing in here, but she was sitting in the corner with the guys who like I said gave off the clear vibe of approach us and you'll die. Hell I got the vibe that if I looked at them in a way they disapproved of i'd die. Despite their ease and command of their surroundings this girl Casey now seemed nervous and was sitting there with them chewing intently on her nails as her eyes kept flickering around the room like a startled rabbit, though seeming to hit me a little too often for coincidence. I ordered another drink.
"Hi." I flinched as a soft voice spoke next to me, hesitant, nervous? yet it still made Goosebumps appear on every inch of my exposed skin. I snapped upright and half fell off my stool.
"um...Hi." I said swinging my head around to look at her table and breathed a sigh of relief when I saw her table was empty.
"Don't worry. They are gone," she said sweetly.
"Sorry?" I said thickly.
"The guys," she said jerking her thumb at the table behind her , "figured you wouldn't talk to me if they were here. They left almost half an hour ago, but you have been so dedicated to not looking my way that I was forced to come over here." I had never heard a nicer voice. I think I would have sat there happily for hours and listened to her read the dictionary, it was like liquid honey.
"and...you want to talk to me why?" I said slowly. She gave a slow smile. f**k she was beautiful.
"Wow you just come out and say it don't you. Can I sit?" she asked,
"um... sure if you want." I mumbled. She smiled and slid onto the stool beside me.
"I'm Casey."
"Casey?"
"Yeah, it's my name," she said slowly.
"Oh." I said wishing I could say something a bit more interesting, as silence stretched out between us.
"You know traditionally this is the part when you tell me your name."
"Oh yeah." I said suddenly, blushing furiously wishing the ground would just open up and swallow me, am I always this much of a clot?
"Soooo...." she said slowly with an encouraging smile, "it is?"
"Oh Noah." I stammered, that was almost normal.
"Noah," she said softly, smiling as if enjoying the sound of my name. To be honest I had never really thought much about my name but hearing the way she said it I suddenly liked it. "So what brings you here when it's clear you hate it?"
"How do you know I hate it?"
She just smiled. "Got dumped drowning your sorrows mending a broken heart?" she suggested softly.
"Far from it." I said glumly.
"Shame I wouldn't have minded being a rebound."
"Is it too late to change my answer?" I asked Casey laughed, "My roommate thought it would be fun now he is back in our dorm room getting laid and I'm here for the night."
"Wow the whole night he's confident. I reckon give him a ten minute head start and you guys would be good." I smiled,
"So those guys just left you here by yourself?"
"I'm a big girl." she said calmly, her golden eyes locked on me. I had never seen eyes like those before but they suited her.
"Aren't they worried what could happen?"
"What" she said dropping her voice and leaning in closer. "you think you have the ability to drag me out of here against my will?"
"No " I admitted, "but other guys might."
"No they can't," she said softly, "and the boys know that." I sighed.
"Why are you here," I said solemnly, as much as I was enjoying this light flirting it was soured by the fact that I was half certain her 'boys' were waiting outside with the intention of caving my head in and stealing my wallet.
She shrugged, "It's a bit of a dive but the drinks are cheap."
"I don't mean the bar, I meant here." I said pointing at her seat, she smiled. I wish she would stop doing that. She was so damn Beautiful, that smile pretty much robbed me of my ability to think straight. "Look, I know me and I know girls you like you and you date guys like them who are football quarterbacks and can break my arm without even trying. You don't hang out with d &d playing science majors unless it's for like a joke or something." she leaned in closer, I could smell the light enticing scent wafting off her curtain of dark hair.
"You have never met a girl like me before, " she said seductively, " You have no idea about what I want, although I will tell you one thing I want is to level up my dragon-born paladin before our campaign enters Cragmore as I think I need the level 4 polymorph spell."
"Was that a D&D joke?" I laughed.
"Well it wasn't a joke. Are you sure you play?" she asked, "look. I'm not here for any obscure or complex motives and please believe me I will not let anything bad happen to you. Anyway I get it, the main reason you gave me the girl like me speech was because you were too afraid to just come out and ask so i'll just answer as if you'd asked. None of those guys are my boyfriend , fiancé, or even Ex. They are my brothers."
"Oh." I said frowning that didn't ring true but I wasn't in a mood to push it, she had me. I was willing to do whatever to sit here with her, SO what if it cost me my f*****g Wallet. "Soooo" I said, trying desperately to think of a topic that me and a beautiful girl could possibly have in common, I didn't dare try and bring up d&d again. "Are you a student?" inspired I thought wanting to hit myself.
She just smiled. "Sure."
"What are you studying?"
"Literature."
"OK, I'm studying Biology mainly, a little physics. I'm a proper official geek." the bell from over the bar was rung for last orders. I slid off my seat.
"Well Casey it was nice meeting you." I said awkwardly.
"So where are you off to now?" she asked.
"Um... I don't know." I said finally.
She just smiled. "Sounds fun fancy some company."
“Um...sure I guess.”
She signed. "Such enthusiasm." she held her hand out to me and I think I frowned at her for a full minute before I realised her hand wasn't moving, so I took it. Casey instantly averted her gaze and I saw her biting her lip gently, her expression impossible to read but a second later it was gone and she gave my arm a little tug, pulling me from the bar.
As we came out onto the street I braced myself to be tackled by her 'brothers' but nothing happened. The street was quiet and empty.
"So which way?" she asked, hardly acting like she had a plan. I shrugged and took a left by chance. She just smiled and walked with me, keeping a tight grip on my hand that was making my palm tingle.
