The Nigerian factor
Amblo got admission quiet alright but wasn't happy because he felt his efforts where all ignored since he couldn't get to study medicine, first thing he did was to register for another university entrance examination, although he would go and study zoology, he would still write and try his luck, 'now this is a typical Nigerian'.
Days passed by, it was already time for school, this university called 'usmanu danfodio university sokoto ' was located so far from home, but Amblo applied because he was told there was little competition in medical related courses, so now, he had to travel all the distance from home to come and start studying a 'zoology' he so much underrated. Coming to usmanu danfodio university sokoto, popularly known as UDUSOK, it was a long process of registration, being an Islamic state, many lecturers where Muslims and where so strict on dressing code, even with the harsh hot weather, students had to button up their shirts completely, following instructions like high school teenagers.
Students where frisked, before they come into lecture halls because of the repeated issues of bomb blasts in Northern Nigeria, lecture halls with polythene leathers all over them, except a day the school cleaners decide to have mercy and come to work, Agricultural departments tried so hard in planting trees to serve as wind breaks because of the harsh wind that you could feel it pushing you when you are walking in it. The camels that people still had even as civilization had conquered Nigeria still surprised Amblo.
Muslim girls covered their bodies with 'Hijab, a long cloth they wear after wearing their dresses and this made it so hard to be able to guess the 'breast size or buttocks size' as this was the joy of almost every average Nigerian boy, some also covered a cloth on their face and you could see only their eyes, this cloth is the 'Niqab' just to avoid too much disturbance from wild boys on the campus. Turning round to the new Muslim friend he made.
''why all this girls like the cover face'' Amblo said in Nigerian pidgin, a language that is a threat to English, as he was good at it.
''some cover their faces because they are already married or they have been bethrothed, so they are avoiding approaches from other men", Mohammed said.
Still laughing, ''Mohammed don't judge too directly on only trying to avoid disturbances, some of this girls are just trying to hide their ugly faces" everyone around bursted into laughter, only then they knew that the conversation really drew much attention.
