It all passed in a blur. Every two hours, Michael would wake up in search of blood. Edric or I would give it, and Michael would blissfully fall back asleep. His right foot had completely regrown, and his left leg now almost had an ankle again. It was working and though I would not admit it, I couldn’t have done it without Edric. I don’t know at what point I fell asleep, I couldn’t even remember if it had been day or night. I dreamed of the fields surrounding our house, of chasing the people I had grown to love in a game of tag.
