Though the sun had been up when we left Germany, it was pitch black in whatever country we arrived at. The full moon was high up in the sky, providing our only source of light. There were no street lights here, no lanterns. It was a dark forest, just like in the stories I let go of Edric and took a step away from him. It wasn’t good for me to be close to him, I couldn’t let my emotions get the best of me.
