Chapter 07 Car Drive " What? " I feigned innocence, knowing exactly what Jatin was getting at. But hey, a little drama never hurt anyone, right? " Tell him not to flirt with you in front of me," Jatin demanded, his jealousy on full display. I couldn't help but smirk. Aww, I like it when you get jealous over me, but that wasn't my intention. I swear. " I didn't tell him to flirt with me, okay? " I retorted, trying to diffuse the situation. " I thought he is your friend, so I said that. Maybe you guys planned for him to get back at me because of Ana," Jatin speculated, his suspicions running wild. " No, I don't flirt around like you do," I shot back, determined to set the record straight. " I don't flirt, that's just my way, " Jatin insisted. " Okay, I don't want to fight with you, Jatin. And he's not my friend. He's Olivia's friend only, " I clarified, hoping to put an end to the unnecessary drama. " If you say so," Jatin muttered, clearly not convinced. " What do you mean? " I pressed, sensing there was more to his comment. " Nothing, babe. Sorry, I can't drop you today," Jatin changed the topic abruptly. " No problem, " I replied, relieved to move on from the awkward conversation. " So, let's continue to watch? " Jatin suggested, motioning towards an adult video playing on his phone. I wrinkled my nose in disgust. " No, I gotta go. The break is almost over. " " But there's plenty of time, Mira, " Jatin protested, clearly disappointed. " Yes, but someone will come. Let's not watch it here, " I insisted, not wanting to risk getting caught. " Oh, come on, Mira! What happened to you after meeting your friends? " Jatin complained, clearly frustrated. " It's nothing. I just don't want to watch it," I replied, growing irritated by his persistence. " So you have a problem with this too? " Jatin gritted his teeth, his patience wearing thin. " Why are you repeating the same thing over and over? I said I don't want to watch it here, so just get over it, " I snapped, my frustration boiling over. " Fine. I think I'm going to meet my friends, " Jatin declared suddenly, clearly upset. " Why all of a sudden? " I demanded, my temper rising. " Just something very important came into my mind to discuss with them, " Jatin replied cryptically. " What's so important? " I pressed, not ready to let him off the hook so easily. " I'll catch you later, " Jatin said, already turning to leave. " Jatin, Jatin! " I called after him, but he ignored me, disappearing into the crowd. Well, he can go to hell! It's over again. What kind of boyfriend have I made? He can't just ignore me whenever he feels like it. Ugh, whatever. ---------- Trying desperately to distract myself from thoughts of Jatin, I found myself waiting in the parking lot with Dheeraj, who seemed determined to get my attention. " You know, you're so special, Mira. If I were your boyfriend, I'd love to drop you off and pick you up every day with roses in my hand," Dheeraj said, oozing with cheesy lines that made me cringe. " Your future girlfriend is going to be lucky, " I replied, trying to be polite despite feeling increasingly uncomfortable. " Yes, you are lucky, " he shot back, confusing me even more. " Huh? I'm not talking about me," I clarified, puzzled by his response. " Look, you don't have to waste your time on worthless people," Dheeraj continued, his tone dripping with sarcasm. " I'm not wasting my time on Jatin," I retorted, feeling defensive. " I didn't mention him," Dheeraj countered, his words only adding to my confusion. " Then who were you talking about? " I asked, growing frustrated. " About you and me," he replied, his eyes twinkling mischievously. " Oh, please, just stop it. I will kill you if you hit on me again," I threatened, feeling my patience wearing thin. " I would love to be killed by you. Pleasure would be all mine," he replied with a smirk, sending shivers down my spine. " Wait for Olivia; both of us will kill you," I warned, hoping to end the conversation before it got any weirder. " Sure, lucky me," he winked, completely unfazed by my threat. I sighed, relieved when Olivia finally arrived to rescue me from Dheeraj's relentless flirting. " Hey, sorry I got late," Olivia said, unlocking the car. " No problem, Olivia," I smiled gratefully, eager to escape Dheeraj's company. " Yes, no problem, not at all. Actually, Mira was enjoying my company. I can bet she was sending silent prayers to the gods that you wouldn't come, so both of us could spend more time together," Dheeraj joked, earning an eye roll from me. " Haha, Dheeraj, sometimes you're not funny," Olivia teased. " Really? Then give me your keys. I'll drive so fast that both of you will cling to me, hugging me from either side," Dheeraj suggested, waggling Olivia's keys playfully. Olivia laughed and threw him the keys. " This doesn't look like your car keys," he realized, dangling the keys in his hand. " Yeah, those are my locker keys. So now sit in the back seat quickly because I am driving," Olivia instructed, taking charge. " Hey, you said you'd let me drive," Dheeraj protested. " Not this time," Olivia replied firmly, shutting down his objections. " You're cheating on me," Dheeraj pouted. " Not really, " Olivia shrugged, unfazed by his complaints. " Fine, whatever. But I'm sitting in the front seat only, " Dheeraj declared, sulking as he climbed into the car. Throughout the drive, Dheeraj didn't stop talking, his chatter filling the car with a never-ending stream of words. I couldn't help but wonder how one person could talk so much, but Olivia seemed to find it entertaining. " Then you will ----- hey that looks like my house " Dheeraj finally became aware of his surroundings. " Yep that one is yours only, " Olivia confirmed to him. " That's unfair, why are you dropping me first? You haven't read the famous dialogue of curtsy that screams 'ladies first'. " " Stop being dramatic. Your home came first in my way that's why I am dropping you first." " How come? " " Dheeraj bye for now, Mira must be getting late " He looked at me from the side mirror then shrugging his shoulders he moved out and I also moved out. " Aww Mira you don't have to be formal, it's really okay if you don't give me a goodbye kiss " " Huh? I came out to sit in the front not to bid you goodbye " " Uh oh, then what about coffee or tea or me?" He winked. -------------- " He talks too much, " I told Olivia after a while to start our conversation. " Isn't it good? Time just flew while talking to him. I mean he never let you get bored." " Yes it is but he flirts too much also " " He is like this with everybody. He flirts with me also. " she said it with affirmation. " How do you handle him? " " By laughing. He is just being funny, nothing serious. " " Oh I see " " Hmm. By the way I heard some senior girls were talking about having a party tonight " " Oh " She must be hinting me about Jatin lying to me about extra football practice but I ignored. " Yup, okay so should I take this way or that one? " She asked, changing the topic, sensing my hesitation. " This way is short cut " " Ok " ----------------
