Chapter 3
As the days and weeks turned into months, the voyage became more difficult to endure. Most of the convicts were weak and weary. Three men had died and been thrown overboard to be swallowed up by the sea, or by sharks. Seven men, including Collins and McCready, were suffering from fevers and vomiting, and had been isolated in the infirmary.
The ship had docked in Argentina for supplies, which, according to one of the men, meant they were more than halfway through their journey.
“It’ll be a miracle if any of us make it to Sydney Town,” said Albert, lying in his bunk, groaning.
